Need a break from the daily grind? Do beautiful views of the Blue Ridge sound relaxing? Would a little time on the slopes of Beech or Sugar Mountain help work the kink out? Try a vacation at our mountain haven and set all of your worries aside for a while.
The Lodges at Elkmont feature craftsman construction of the highest quality materials, beautiful interior fixtures and finish, and high quality appliances. You will enjoy all of the comforts of home on vacation.
At 4144 feet above sea level, summertime highs above 80 degrees are a rarity, and the mountain views are spectacular. Though the town of Banner Elk claims only 995 year around residents, opportunities for recreation, entertainment, shopping and dining abound. With a large number of seasonal residents, and lots of visitors, it would take months to try all of the restaurants in the area. During the summer, visitors come to enjoy the cool air and magnificent scenery, and world class outdoor activities. Hiking, biking, rafting and tubing, forest zip line tours and rock climbing are all nearby. Boone and Blowing Rock have a huge variety of galleries, specialty shops and outlets. The Blue Ridge Parkway makes the grandeur of the mountains accessible even from the car.
The winters can be harsh, and this is great news for fans of southern skiing and winter sports. Beech and Sugar Mountains offer gentle slopes and great ski schools to get the novice started, and they have steeps to challenge even the most advanced skiers.
Fall in the North Carolina mountains is one of the great spectacles of nature, and Banner Elk is at the very center of the show. Fall colors usually peak between October 5 and October 20. If you want to enjoy this special time, be sure to book early, consider reservations for any dining out, and don't be in a hurry to get anywhere.
September, November, April and May are "low season" in the NC mountains, and there are great reasons to visit then. The weather is usually mild, there are few crowds, and you can walk into almost any restaurant and be seated. Please don't let word get out about these special times!

I grew up in Banner Elk and have lived in Roanoke, VA since 1984. Having a home in Banner Elk means it is easy for me to visit family for the weekend, and I can enjoy the peace and beauty of the North Carolina mountains regularly.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2010
Location, location, location. Knowing and loving the area, I was thrilled when I found a property of such quality and convenience, close to family, and with gorgeous views of the mountains, I knew I had found a home.
Peace, quiet, calm, beauty and joy.
This is the second time my family has stayed at this condo. It is absolutely wonderful! The condo is clean and well equipped. The views from the balcony are breath taking. The location is great as well...a short drive to both Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain. We highly recommend staying here...we definitely look forward to going back!
My family and I just got back and to be honest we were bummed when we got home. We absolutely loved the condo. The view of the mountains and city was beautiful. The home is absolutely gorgeous. You must see in person. So much space. The condo was so clean and had everything you could possibly think of. We will be planning a trip back soon. I recommend everyone must see this one in person you will fall in love.
Just returned from a great weekend getaway with family members. Condo is very conducive to gathering as a group to talk, eat, watch March Madness. Internet service is great. Kitchen is well equipped. View of the mountains is incredible. Plan to go back soon!
My friends and I stayed here for a little R and R weekend. The weather wasn't great, but it made our condo choice even better as it was so comfortable and nice to be in. Very clean, SUPER comfy couches and chairs. Plenty of space to hang out in living area or loft which was great. Really nice open layout. SPACIOUS! Kitchen was very well stocked. We would definitely come back again. The only negative for me was the beds were firm, which is totally a personal preference but one worth noting if you are a plush sleeper and considering a weeklong visit or so. For two nights, wasn't a big deal. I've stayed in many VRBO rentals and this was one of my favorites. 4.5/5 is more accurate:)
This was our fourth year coming for our Girls Weekend and we actually got to see a little snow this year! Six of us ladies stay and sleep comfortably in the spacious accommodations. The kitchen is well-equipped and there are always nice extras--coffee and coffee supplies are stocked, great books and DVDs are provided. We just returned home and have already started our countdown to next year's visit.
Just got back from New Years vacation. Loved this condo and its location! Amenities were exactly as described.Very clean and well-stocked Kitchen. First time we have used VRBO and so much easier that going through a rental company. Felt like home rather than a rental! Perfect location for many activities in the area!
