We chose Dillon Beach and this house because of it's unhurried, friendly, easy relaxed feel and the great views of incoming waves from the house & the expansive ocean panorama. After about a year working on weekends, the house has been renovated into a comfortable retreat with new furnishings.
The area is relatively undiscovered and far enough off busy Hwy 1 not to be touristy like Stinson Beach or other beach towns full of cars and traffic and it's only about a 1 hour drive from San Francisco. Surrounded by a pristine natural coastline and trails, it's an incredibly relaxing and easy escape from the city and hot Sacramento summers. The sunsets over the ocean and star filled night skies are amazing too. The cool nights and sound of the crashing waves make for an incredibly deep night's sleep as well.
We regularly stay at the beach house when it isn't rented and are continually making sure everything is in order, stocked up and maintained.
Staying at the beach is magical - picnics, sandcastles, body surfing and uncomplicated fun. It's a chance to slow down, relax and be together to relish life for a few days and relive fond memories of going to the beach as a kid.
What can we say - this was a most beautiful stay, made more memorable by the incredible view, the tasteful aesthetic of the decor, and the spirit of so many happy and thoughtful visitors who have stayed in your lovely home. A wonderful and restful, peaceful respite for the aches of the world not too distant (sadly) - It is very important to know there are such places as this!
We came to the Sonoma area for a ranch wedding and stayed in Sebastapol for a few nights first...we wanted to spend a few extra nights near the ocean after the wedding was over. This home did not disappoint. Sitting on the very hip orange sofa and looking out the incredible windows at the amazing ocean view upon arrival, was the first time I truly relaxed during my visit. WE loved exploring the area (even though we were very cold in August. We are from South California, but currently living on the eastcoast and were not prepared for the colder temps). We loved the hike down to the ocean that ran alongside the house and also going to the main area of Dillon Beach. The neighborhood was quiet and private. The design and decor of the home was so relaxing. Great lighting, furniture, fireplace. Just a great overall feeling. We are a small family of 3, but it easily and comfortable could accommodate several families or a large family. The downstairs is totally private. My 11 year old daughter absolutely loved the area. We saw a ton of deer and incredible birds. It was a magical stay. My only small request/suggestion would be to have a small amount of laundry soap available for the w/d. We couldn't find any eco friendly in the area so didn't do our laundry. Make sure you grab firewood on the way (they sell at Dillon Beach Resort. Their cafe had a decent lunch and we had a great dinner at Nick's Cove about 20 minutes away in Tomales Bay. Highly recommend. Jerry was very helpful too! Thank you!
This home is lovely, an ideal location with gorgeous view; adjacent to trail leading directly to the beach, spacious and well equipped.
The home was immaculate, clean and well kept. We picked up the key from Jessie, who was delightful and it was so convenient. Jerry was easy to work with and very accomodating.
Will stay here again in a heartbeat, hope we have the opportunity soon. Highly recommend.
Our family of 5 adults and 1 baby stayed for 4 days in this lovely home just after Christmas. We very much enjoyed the great view from the windows, both inside when it was inclement weather, and from the protected porch, and finally from the balcony at the front of the house.
We were also impressed with the many stylish touches of the house and admired the taste of the owner.
The house was set out well for us—2 bd upstairs and a bedroom and den downstairs. The baby and parents stayed downstairs so that the baby was in her own room but still close to the parents so they could hear her at night.
We walked over to the little general store and the beach just below it and we also enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and up the hill behind the house, where the views just get better and better. FYI, the little café is only open Thursday through Sundays, at least at this time of year. Good to know.
We weren’t comfortable using the trail to the beach right by the house (it had been raining) but there were a couple other options close by as well and those worked fine.
We had a quiet, restful time in this photogenic area and strongly recommend this lovely house.
We needed a holiday from the holiday so scheduled 3 nights at this lovely beach house over Christmas. Five of us fit comfortably in the three well-appointed bedrooms. The weather was pretty cooperative with sunny days for the most part, but we got to experience a couple of Pacific storms as well. Fantastic views of the Pacific from the floor to ceiling living room windows. We walked down to the beach and visited the small towns nearby. Had Christmas dinner at the Duck Club in Bodega Bay (about a 20 minute drive) which we also recommend for a nice night out. The house was clean and comfy and everything was just as it was advertised. The owner, Jerry, was responsive and helpful, and the caretaker, Jessie, had everything ready for us. All in all, the perfect relaxing getaway we were looking for. We'll be back.
One tip, especially if you are visiting in the colder seasons: Bring a few Duraflame logs for the living room fireplace. One was provided for us, and we left one for the next guests, but you're going to want to have more to take full advantage of that fireplace in the evenings.
Stayed here with family and it was breathtakingly gorgeous, and neat and well equipt. It was amazing to watch fog or weather moving in, and we loved the deck. We did a lot of cooking, and had everything we needed. We loved exploring all the little towns in the area. We would love to come back!
This home was a perfect fit for us. Was looking for a relaxing beach-side pit stop with my husband and three little kids after flying into SFO for our North-CA vacation. The best part was Jerry, the owner, and Jessie, the caretaker. Jerry is more than responsive and professional, and Jessie went over and above. She let us ship things to her home and had them waiting for us at the home. She even brought her grandchild's sand toys and beach towels for our family to use! Although a bit treacherous, the walk to the beach really does take just a few minutes and I did it will our 2 and 4 year old more than once a day. The house itself has nice minimal, modern decor with comforting livingroom fireplace and sauna attached to the downstairs bathroom. Love the balcony enclosed with window-walls overlooking the crashing waves. Would definitely stay there again.
