About Grace Greaves
Licensened Michigan builders dream home in the north. This is our 5th home that we've built since we were married and it has all the comforts of home and our home away from home!
Grace Greaves purchased this House in 2007
Why Grace Greaves chose Grand Marais
We love the wild life, natural scenery and the ability to access miles of groomed snowmobile trails and 4 wheeling trails within minutes. This is a safe area for all to drive and ride off road vehicles. High end amenities throughout this log home make you feel as though you are in a 5 star hotel. You’ll have the comforts of home yet be able to ‘get away from it all’ but still be connected to civilization if (and only if!) you desire. Top notch furnishing, appliances, local touches and trimmings in this home await your arrival and enjoyment. This three-story home also offers a lower level that is roomy enough for the kids to unwind and play a game of ladder ball or bean bag tic-tac-toe. This home is the most unique and upscale in the area, offering the best of the best and promising memories to last a lifetime!
What makes this House unique
We enjoy the various restaurants that are only blocks away. We also enjoy the local community and their love of the area. We enjoy being close to the town activity but also love being able to 'go to the ridge' and enjoy our family time. Grand Marais offers several restaurants, museums, a hardware store, grocery store, outfitter store (with canoe rentals), a city beach with public bathrooms, playground, volleyball net & marina, a post office, bank and several galleries & shops all awaiting your arrival and exploration. Local sites to enjoy include Coast Guard Point, Sable Falls, Grand Sable Dunes, Sable Lake, Log Slide and AuSable lighthouse that are all within the city of Grand Marais. The local event calendar is very busy during the summer and some of the activities offered are the Spash In (where water planes are allowed to land in the GM bay), the fishing tournament, the 4th of July city party, parade and fireworks display, the music festival, the Great Lake Kayak Symposium and the Labor Day Triathalon. Winter activities include the UP 200 (the dog sled race that goes throughout the UP of Michigan) as well as snowmobiling, ice fishing, cross country skiing, etc. Grand Marais offers miles and miles of groomed snowmobile trails for the snowmobile enthusiast. The average snow fall in Grand Marais is over 300” per year!! This home allows you to snowmobile, cross country ski and snowshoe in and out right from the front door. Eateries: West Bay Diner-all homemade food breads and desserts Dunes Saloon-pizza and on-site brewed beer and more North Shore –On the point, good for large groups and families Sportsman’s-Fish dinners, pasties & more

Love Grand Marais!
We couldn’t ask for a better view and loved the location; the house was very nice and served our family well. We had everything we needed to make any meals we wanted....until we found all three propane tanks were empty! It was late so our son had to get propane at a different location than your usual. Also I was disappointed to find piles of sand just outside the garage door and more in the garage that I needed to take care of before the rest of our family arrived, so it wouldn’t be tracked into the house!
I am sorry that the propane tanks were not full. I cannot determine what the guests before you did to run them dry (left them on?). I am happy to refund you for the purchase to fill up the tank. Thank you for sweeping up the sand, but in a sandy environment it does happen. I'm happy that the house was to your liking.
Second stay as good as first
We had another terrific week in Grand Marais. Grace is very easy to work with and stays in contact when needed. The property is gorgeous! Plenty of room for the seven of us. Amazing views from the back deck, love the swings!
Thank you for your kind words!
My wife and I along with our 5 grandchildren were beyond impressed. This is a gorgeous home with a view that you can't get enough of. When we first entered, my grandkids said OMG this is a mansion. It has ALL the comforts of home, a luxurious home. I can't imagine a nicer home in Grand Marais, this place is special and one you won't forget.
A Grand Lodge in Grand Marais
This is an amazing house. Everything you could possibly want or need, with an amazing view of Lake Superior and Grand Marais Bay. You also see a small waterfall feeding into a trout pond, right from the wall of windows on the main and upper level. The home is full of information and photos about Grand Marais’ history, and books and maps of the surrounding area. The owners have put a lot of thought into the design and provisions in this house. Upon arriving, the front door will drop your jaw! Copper sinks, spacious bedrooms and bathrooms, high end appliances, even your own lighthouse beacon. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else when we come back, and we will come back!
Thank you for your kind review! We are happy to share our piece of paradise with folks that really appreciate the beauty there with all the comforts of home! Your descriptions were spot on! It's always hard to try to explain it to others, but you did a wonderful job! Thanks again!
Great property. Good location.
Relaxing, beautiful views. Loved the decor. Close to Grand Marais.
Owner is very responsive.
Many state trails that allow 4-wheeling, dirt biking & snowmobiles. Also, trails specific for hiking & climbing are nearby. Several areas that are State maintained (and State recreational areas) that are great for picnics & exploring lakes, rivers, waterfalls, etc. If what you enjoy is beach combing, bike riding, hiking, site seeing, agate hunting, off road adventures, groomed snowmobile and cross country ski trails or snowshoeing, sunsets, canoeing, fishing, swimming in a crystal clean pond or lake, boating or just seclusion and enjoying what nature has to offer…this home is your vacation spot, offering comfortable coziness, all with a second to none view from every window. Enjoy day trips to the Eastern gateway to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Seney Wildlife Refuge (great place to hike, canoe & watch nature), Tahquamenon Falls, Oswalds Bear Ranch and White Fish Point. Hiking on the North Country Lakeshore Trail is only one block away. This area is a photographers dream and a sportsman's paradise! H-58 is now also paved from Grand Marais to Munising and it's a beutiful ride in a car, RV or on a bike.
