Minnesota House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Enjoy a week on the water in our river home, a spacious 3 bedroom, 2 bath home located near two quaint towns along the majestic St. Croix River: Hudson, WI., and Stillwater, MN. We are just steps away from the water where a huge 12 foot by 40 foot dock awaits. If you don't feel like being outside, there is a large enclosed porch with huge windows to watch the boats slowly troll by. We have 100 feet of private frontage with a sandy beach and for those of you who worry about current, there is little, as the river is very wide and slow moving. The dock will no doubt provide hours of endless entertainment watching the boats lazily drift by. And the best part is that we are in a no wake zone, so there is no danger of boats speeding past and ruining your precious relaxation time.

Within a two minute bike ride, you can access the Afton bike trail and ride into the historic town of Afton for a huge wafflecone at Selma's or maybe you would prefer a martini at the Sail Away Cafe. You can even ride across the bridge into the state of Wisconsin to Hudson where there is excellent live theatre at the Phipps, or great dining along the river at the Pier 500 Restaurant.

We are also just a 10 minute drive from Stillwater, arguably Minnesota's greatest town, with its steep hills, great views, phenomenal antique shops and breathtaking paddleboats. There is so much to do, and so little time. One of our favorite things to do is have a cheese plate and glass of pinot noir at the Dock Cafe. Amazing food and great views. For those who like a fun place to hang out and listen to a band into the late hours of the night, PD Pappy's provides a great time.

Maybe you are an early riser, and would prefer a kayak ride (we have two). There is some amazing wild life to see. This morning, I saw a group of 12 egrets preening in a bay, and a pair of bald eagles were perched in a huge cottonwood above our home. If you love to fish, rumor has it that the walleyes bite often. We have some poles out on the porch, along with some lures. Best of luck and we can't wait to hear the fish stories.

We are also close to Interstate 94 and within 25 to 30 minutes you can be in St. Paul or Minneapolis where city life awaits. Why not take in a Twin's game, or go and see the new Guthrie Theatre, which is architecturally breathtaking. Maybe your goal is to see the place where Mary Tyler Moore threw her hat into the air. The options are limitless. There are even a couple of great shopping malls close by, either Woodbury Lakes, or the Mall of America.

Our home is definitely comfortable and clean, but not fancy. We wanted it to feel more like a cozy cabin than a city home. However, with 2600 square feet of finished space, you will have ample room to move around and enjoy your surroundings. We do have the kitchen stocked with pots, pans, dishes, etc..., and we hope that you can whip up some great meals to enjoy on the huge lower level porch. We are close by and can be easily reached if there is anything else that you might need. We want your experience to be a pleasant one.

About JT

My wife and I always joke about how we came to own this house. It started with her saying she wanted a boat. That led to me buying a truck, which led to us renting a slip, which led to much frustration and expense, which led to me looking for property, which left her saying, 'All I wanted was a boat.' We bought our home when our boys were young and wanted them to grow up with great memories of life on the river. They spent countless hours jumping on the Rave trampoline, swimming with their friends and learning to navigate a boat on the St. Croix. We have never regretted living in this beautiful river valley and can't wait to share it with you.

JT purchased this house in 1999

Why JT chose Minnesota

-my grandparents had a cottage in Lake St. Croix Beach, and as a child, there was no place better to be than going to spend some time with them on the river. My uncle continued the tradition and purchased their cottage and we continued the to enjoy the St. Croix valley. When I grew up, and finally had the chance to purchase some waterfront property, I knew there was only once place for me: the St. Croix.

What makes this house unique

-life jackets -bike trail -kayaking -fishing -sandy beach -huge dock -option to park your boat -no wake zone -friendly neighbors -quiet road -easy access to Hwy. 94 -children's park one block away

excellent choice for family gathering!

  • 5 of 5

This home was clean and spacious, just perfect for our family event. It was comfortable and well stocked with ample linens and dishware for a 6-day stay and shared meals. It couldn't have been a more perfect place for us to visit with out if town guests during our daughter's wedding weekend. We enjoyed family meals, relaxing on the river, a campfire, telling stories, and making new memories. Very peaceful and scenic! Many thanks!!

Family gathering

Great spot for family getaway with adult children and husbands. Big house, great dock, kayaks, good food and wineries nearby. Right on the river. Could use a comfy sofa and reclining lawn chairs.

Perfect home for family get together

  • 5 of 5

We spent a 3 day weekend in this home and it was perfect for our needs. We had 5 adults and 2 small children and we had plenty of room. The owners were very accommodating - brought us firewood when we ran out, and shoveled the driveway when it snowed. Very easy to get to, just right off the highway. Close to relatives in Hudson and the Twin Cities. And a short drive to Stillwater. The view of the river is awesome.

Perfect family retreat and perfect location for a relaxing get away, but close enough to get back

  • 5 of 5

Situated on a quiet cul de sac, this VRBO provides quiet solitude and easy access to the water front. The house is amply stocked should you wish to cook; however, there is a quaint restaurant not more than 5-10 minutes away should that be an option. The house was very clean and charming. Beds were ridiculously comfortable. We had 5 people and never ran out of hot water (a big plus). Watching the loons dive for fish and trumpeter swans during the day was a treat. The city lights reflecting on the water at night was spectacularly beautiful (best taken in with a bottle of wine and good company).

The house was situated close enough to the highway to make driving to various locations in the Twin Cities and WI easy. Stillwater was just 10 minutes away. Sincerely, we could not have picked a better place to stay for convenience, location, comfort, and quality. We were only there for a weekend and chose this over a hotel stay as this afforded our family to be together in one space rather than spread out in several rooms in a hotel. Best choice ever.

Perfect Home for our Girls Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for the weekend to celebrate a Bachelorette Party... Friday night we went into Hudson, WI for dinner and drinks. It was nice that it was only a couple miles from the house. On Saturday night we had a shuttle pick us up and drive us into Stillwater. Everyone had a wonderful time and the house was absolutely perfect for the weekend! We can't wait to come back and enjoy in the summer when we can spend some time outdoors!
