Streamside Chalet- Secluded Cozy Cabin Just 15 Minutes From Breckenridge

Bedrooms 2
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 5 nights

About the property

2 Bedroom 1 Bath Cozy Cabin with Private Stream Access, A Heavily Wooded Lot, and Mountain Views!.

Stremside is an authentic log cabin nestled in the deep woods right beside it's own stream. There are beautiful paths along the stream or you can enjoy the sound of the rushing stream right from the deck. The views of the mountains to the North and East are beautiful. The home is decorated tastefully with cabin decor. It has all the modern conveniences but is surrounded by natural beauty. It's far enough away from the crowd to be secluded and private but close enough to get to the skiing, sites, restaurants, supplies, etc. nearby. The spacious living room has seating for 6 and has a cozy gas stove. There are two bedrooms. One has a queen bed and the other has 2 twin bunk beds and a full size bed.

In winter, (4 wheel drive is recommended), there's Breckenridge world class skiing within 25 minutes. Numerous other ski venues (Copper Mtn., Keystone, Vail, Monarch, Ski Cooper) are within another 1/2 an hour. Other winter activities nearby include cross country skiing, snow-mobiling. During the summer, there's white water rafting, hiking, ATV trails, biking, fishing, hunting, and camping. You can relax and just enjoy the natural beauty or head out to the nearby towns/resorts/parks, and enjoy the unlimited winter and summer activities the area has to offer.

In the summer you will be in the center of all activities including old mine ruins, Montgomery Reservoir, Mt. Lincoln, Mt. Bross, Mt. Quandry and many more. Fairplay (just 10 miles away) is the activity center of the Colorado Rocky Mountains and is often referred to as the Base Camp for all activities some of which include hiking, mountain climbing, horseback riding, ice climbing, fishing, hunting, rafting, 4-wheeling, ATVing, mine exploring, canoeing, kayaking, and much much more. Alma is only 5 minutes away and offers dining, shopping, and entrances to some of the most beautiful drives in Colorado such as Kite Lake, Bristlecone Pines, and Mosquito Pass.

If you can think of an outdoor activity, you will probably find it within 10-20 minutes of the cabin. It is a great home to call your "Base Camp".

This is a beautiful home to spend any season of the year. The access is easy and 4-wheel drive is not a necessity in the summer but is recommended in the winter months. You can find all of these activities within minutes of the home:

* FISHING ... Gold Medal/Blue Ribbon Fishing. 5 area lakes and public river a short drive away

* In Subdivision... Access to National Forest/ large lots for plenty of seclusion

* Breckenridge ... ski, snowmobile, fish, ride, golf - 20 min. NW

* Buena Vista ... Hot Springs, fishing, raft the Arkansas River - 45 min. SW

* Salida ... fishing, hiking, jeeping, rafting - 30 min SW

* Como Historic Railroad District - 10 min. NW

* Fairplay Historic Mining Town - 15 min. NW

* Denver ... shopping, theaters, sports, amusements parks -90 min NE

* Cripple Creek ... gold mining, gambling - 50 min.

* Canon City ... home of the Royal Gorge - 1.5 hours SE

* Manitou Springs ... Cave of the Winds, Pikes Peak - 1.5 hours SE

You will enjoy the flexibility of being able to explore all of the exciting areas in the heart of the Rockies by being in the center of all the activities. You will be able to enjoy a luxurious home but you won't have to put up with all of the traffic in Breckenridge and along I-70.

About Susan Bigham

We purchased this home in October 2007 after living in Colorado for just two years. We love having a little getaway place that is close to our home, yet feels so far away from the city of Denver.

Why Susan Bigham chose Alma

We enjoy fishing in the valley pond and at Montgomery Reservoir, going on hikes right out our back door, and visiting Alma, Fairplay, and Breckenridge. Sometimes we just stay at the cabin all day and watch the wildlife - we have seen foxes, porcupines, hummingbirds, deer, bear, and moose right out the windows! Day trips to Turquoise Lake, Buena Vista, Salida, and Twin Lakes are easy and fun. It sure is nice NOT having to take 70 to and from our cabin and dealing with the interstate traffic. At night, we always leave the windows open so we can hear the soothing sound of Moose Creek while we sleep.

What makes this cabin unique

The close proximity to Breckenridge with the added benefit of peace and solitude are the main benefit of being near Alma. The home is near 5 of the main "Fourteeners" which just adds to the beauty of the location and provides so many unique outdoor activities like mountain climbing, hiking, 4-wheel roads, ghost town exploration, ice climbing, and fishing just to name a few.

Beautiful and peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

Streamside is a beautiful, secluded property in the forest. We hit it at peak aspen leaf season and were amazed at the beauty of the area. Alma & Fairplay are lovely little towns with everything one needs - no need to travel up to Breckenridge! The sound of the stream and the beauty of the surroundings created the perfect fall vacation. We'll be back!

Great cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed a week at this cabin. We normally stay in Summit County but really enjoyed learning our way around Park County. The cabin had everything we needed and it was a joy to have our dog travel with us.

Quiet Mountain Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is excellent for a true getaway experience. The town is small with great people and greater views. We drove through Breckinridge and were SO happy we chose this cabin in Alma. It was quiet and secluded. We didn't see any neighbors the whole time, but we DID see a coyote. We were worried that the "streamside" might have been oversold, but we were very pleased with the ever-present sound of rushing water and size of the stream -- it comes from way up the mountain and is literally right next to the cabin. There is even a lounge chair out there to sit and relax by the water. There was a mud room, which was very helpful for our dogs. We loved sitting on the porch, where we saw hummingbirds and chipmunks on the regular. Also, the cabin was well-stocked with toiletries, dishes, pillows, and blankets.

There are only two things we would have changed. One is that the beds are only so-so comfortable, but the couch is awesome, so I slept there. The second is that the info packet for the place, which was partly helpful, was also a bit deceiving. It said there was a washer/dryer and a dishwasher, which there were not. We actually packed with a washer/dryer in mind. The packet should be reviewed. In one page it says "absolutely no pets allowed" and then in the next paragraph "pets allowed."

Overall, we absolutely loved our stay and plan to come back. The stream and the trees alone make the property a worthwhile stay. We would recommend this place to anyone -- singles, couples, friends, and families.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much. We appreciate your input. I am glad you enjoyed Streamside. Our digital guide books are new so I am glad you pointed out the misprints in them. We have to turn on and off specific information for each one so it is a bit confusing. I apologize for any misunderstandings. We will get the information in it corrected right away. Streamside is definitely pet friendly so please feel free to bring a pet next time. Thank you again for taking the time to write a review.

Relaxing stay at Streamside Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We visited Streamside cabin with our two dogs and had such a wonderful time. The cabin interior and layout were very comfortable and exceeded our expectations. The stream located next to the cabin was the main feature that swayed us to book Streamside over other accommodations and it did not disappoint. The sound of the running water was very soothing!! We found the furniture to be comfortable and felt at home right away. Location was also very close to great hiking. During our stay, we saw quite a bit of wildlife in areas near the cabin: mountain goats, fox, deer, and moose! We are planning on visiting again, highly recommend!

Wonderful Place

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place. We really enjoyed our stay and our walks down the road. Especially enjoyed our breakfast and dinner out on the deck with that great view. Hearing the creek at night was so peaceful. What really impressed us was how clean the cabin was, it was spotless and everything we needed was provided, we just had to bring our food!! Loved the place and will definitely like to stay there again.

This home has a fantastic deck with panoramic Mountain Views, private stream access and 1 wood fireplace in the living room. It is a quick 15 minute drive to Breckenridge Ski Resort. Montgomery Lake is less than 2 miles away as well as old mine ruins to explore and Lincoln Falls. You can hike and snowshoe right from the property. There is world-class ice climbing within 2 miles as well. In the summer and fall, you can fish in Montgomery Reservoir which is stocked each year and is one of the best trout fishing spots in Colorado. The 4-wheel drive trails are also well know in this area. Most of the 4- wheeling clubs meet each weekend right by Montgomery Reservoir to begin their trips.
