Our gorgeous Bluff Suite is the perfect location whilst you're visiting Toronto. Everyone loves it, as you can see from the reviews! Our beautiful suite is just a stone’s throw from downtown Toronto and the trendy Beach. This 1000 square foot, second-floor unit, overlooks Lake Ontario, and includes both period furniture and modern amenities. Our accommodation includes a king bed, queen bed and a pull-out sofa in the den. The living room (15' x 20') features a stocked book nook, an electric fireplace and a reclining love seat. Other amenities include flat screen cable TV, a DVD player, and broadband-based WiFi. Imagine cooking while looking at the lake from our fully-equipped kitchen - all utensils and appliances: toaster, coffee maker, electric kettle, stove, fridge/freezer and microwave. Groceries can be purchased at one of the nearby major food chains. There are two bathrooms - one decorated in "spa" colours and the other having a "nature" theme. Of course, no home-away-from-home would be complete without laundry - there is a washer and dryer right in the apartment!
Our suite provides about 20 feet of viewing over the backyard with Lake Ontario immediately beyond. Sorry, no fishing or boating as we are on a 350 foot bluff! Our vantage point is perfect for watching the sunrise, storms, and rainbows. The moon rising from the lake on full-moon nights is simply indescribable and must be experienced.
The Bluff Suite is more, however, than creature comforts and a phenomenal view. We are very proud of our cottage-in-the-city environment, just fifteen minutes drive from downtown Toronto. Feel the peace and serenity offered by our secluded paradise - the wind and waves from Lake Ontario, flowers in season, and the quiet community atmosphere. While joggers and dog-walkers make good use of the neighborhood streets, often the loudest noise to be heard is the birdsong – Canada geese, blue jays, cardinals, and sometimes baltimore orioles. Raccoons regularly peek in the 2nd floor windows and occasionally deer, coyotes, and foxes (fortunately not often!) are spotted in the backyard.
We are just a few minutes drive from Bluffer's Park Marina where you can enjoy a wonderful meal or pub fare while the boats go in and out of the marina. In season, you may want to charter a boat and enjoy fishing for salmon or lake trout. You will enjoy exploring the trendy Beaches neighborhood with it’s Boardwalk, beach volleyball, walking & cycling trails, off-leash area for dogs, fine dining, shops, & spas...amenities abound! Enjoy walking, hiking or cycling along the scenic lakefront, stroll in the park, drop into a sidewalk café, catch some rays, explore the quaint homes in the neighborhood, or simply people-watch.
Your lovely apartment includes use of our spacious deck, hot tub, firepit, 2 bicycles and helmets, the daily newspaper, and free parking.
Our suite is great for travellers, corporate or wedding guests, the bridal party, people who are escaping their own home renovations, locals who want a vacation without leaving town, people who are relocating, and others.

I am a 6th generation Canadian and my ancestors settled in small-town Ontario. As a military brat and in the process of becoming educated, I have resided in various parts of Canada, the USA, France, and Australia. My world travels have taken me to fascinating places and I've met wonderful people along the way. In finding this location, a peaceful 'country' setting so close to downtown, we are 'home at last.' You, too, are welcome to come “home” to The Bluff - stay for a week, a month, or as long as you like, and your dog is welcome, too!
Joy Gilbert purchased this apartment in 2005
On-the-Bluff is your 'gateway to downtown Toronto' and beyond! By car, it will take you 15 minutes to get downtown and the subway is close at hand, too. Toronto boasts a diverse array of culture, entertainment, world class and local shopping and food. Our friendly 'city of neighborhoods' includes Little India, Chinatown, Little Italy, Greektown, Leslieville, Yorkville, the Gay Village, the Annex, Little Portugal, Koreatown and more. Other attractions include the Hockey Hall of Fame, the CN Tower, the St. Lawrence Market, the Toronto Islands, the Art Gallery of Ontario (famously renovated by Frank Geary), and the Royal Ontario Museum with it’s controversial “Lee-Chin Crystal” addition. Who wouldn't want to purchase a home in this amazing city!
Venturing just outside the city limits is Canada's Wonderland, the new spectacular Hindu temple, and our world-class zoo. Outside of Toronto there are many year-round attractions, including everyone’s must-see, Niagara Falls, Algonquin Park, and Casino Rama. Consider The Bluff Suite your home base!
Thanks for the lovely note, Jim and Janet......It was great to see you and the grandkids having so much fun riding the streetcar, the subway, and Go Train! They did pretty well with finding the hidden face in the tree! JOY
"We've had a wonderful week here - we would definitely like to come back to The Bluff Suite - it's awesome! Thankyou for the cash for the kids - they all bought treats at the zoo. It was great to meet you both - I'm sure we'll be in touch again soon.
Bye for now, Janet, Jim, Tessa, Lucas, and Nolan.
This was a delightful property. We were in Toronto for our granddaughter's graduation from college. The family was scattered throughout the beach area and on the night before the ceremony, they all gathered at our rental. We had a cookout on the marvelous deck using the very nice grill, we roasted marshmallows in the fire pit, we relaxed in the hot tub and we drank in the gorgeous views of the lake. We ranged in age from 7 to 74 and all of us had a grand time. Joy was so accommodating, setting up the twinkle lights so that as night came on the yard looked like a fairyland. The apartment was very comfortable and we so appreciated Joy having all the food necessities for us so we didn't have to make a grocery run first thing. WE explored the Marina, ate at some of the nearby restaurants and walked through the neighborhood parks. We were sad to leave and if we are in Toronto again, we know where our first choice is to stay - the Bluff Suite! Thanks Joy!
Our visit to Toronto in from April - May 2016 was mainly to visit with family residing there, but it became so much more. We flew in from Australia late one Friday evening in April 2016 and arrived at the Bluff Suite to a very warm welcome from Joy who had waited up for us. Joy showed us around the Suite explaining the main details and then said goodnight. Next morning we discovered just how beautiful this place was and how gracious our Host had been. Supplies in the fridge to get is started and some home cooked food. We soon discovered how easily we could walk to the shops and public Transport if required. As I mentioned the main purpose of our visit to Toronto was Family oriented, but we did manage to spend time in the garden raking leaves etc and just enjoying the birds, squirrels and the taste of Spring. Joy was very helpful when I required Medical Assistance, taking me to the local Clinic and Pharmacy. Nothing was too much trouble.
Soon it was time to leave this beautiful, peaceful place, but not before we had become good friends with Joy. I would have no hesitation in recommending this Property to anyone, whether is be a family, couple or just a single person wanting to escape. There is a flight of stairs up to the Suite, but then it is all on one level. Very easy to move around in. Very secure, friendly neighbourhood. Great walking area!
I thank you Joy once again for your hospitality and friendship and would certainly return to your Peaceful Retreat.
When we arrived in June 2015 sorry I'm a little late with this. The place was beautiful, clean and spacious. The view from the front of the house over looking the lake was gorgeous especially early mornings and late in the evenings. Very spacious home.We were met with fresh fruits, milk, bread and other breakfast items to start of our stay, also the owner provides washing detergents and cleaning items for your visit. We met Ms.Joy she was very friendly and knowledgeable about her city even suggesting places to visit and sites to see. Every morning Ms. Joy brought us the daily news magazines about what was happening g in the city and nearby, the kids loved the place there was lots of space for them to run around and play which they did. The back yard was huge, nicely landscaped with a grill and a fire pit for toasting marshmallows. This home is nestled in the suburbs a very quiet neighborhood you can see families around taking advantage of walking and cycling it felt safe and turned out to be safe because there were many nights when we got in late.
Lots of room with this second floor rental sharing the yard and back deck with Joy.
Best view of fall sunrises (at a reasonable hour too!) Neighborhood is walking friendly with a garden park closeby. Driving to the Bluffs is close and enjoyed the scenery and hikes there even more.
Full kitchen made breakfasts easy for us (we didn't cook our other meals since Toronto has too many tempting dining options). We got in after dinner/after dark and Joy had already stocked the kitchen with some basics for breakfast the next day along with fresh fruit. Allowed us to sleep in and keep early risers from starving.
There is a second TV room with a sofa bed which definitely can count as a 3rd bedroom. It does have a connecting door to a bathroom shared with the master, but more importantly has a door to separate it from the kitchen/dining.
From the moment we arrived, when our lovely hostess was cutting flowers from her backyard to brighten up our rental, we knew it was going to be perfect! Our boys (5 & 2) ran directly to the backyard and were amazed with the view (as were we). The backyard alone was a beautifully relaxing retreat with the lawn chairs, fire pit, and hot tub all readily at our disposal. When we went upstairs to the rental, the charming furniture and unique decor were just one of the many things we loved about the Bluff Suite! The washrooms were spacious and spa-like and the bedrooms were each interesting and unique. The kitchen was well stocked with all the supplies we needed. We loved the "book nook" and our boys read every children's book there! Our hostess went above and beyond. Our fridge had some welcome foods awaiting us such as bread, butter, jam, milk, eggs, and fruit. Its all about the little touches - on our second day there, she had the newspaper and a sleeve of spider man cups inside our door. The next day, she returned from a yard sale with two little patio chairs, perfect for the boys. On our third and final day, she arrived home with a bag full of children's books to add to the book nook and for our little guys to enjoy in the meantime. But it was the final day, when my husband was ill with heat exhaustion that Joy went above and beyond by doing everything she could do to accommodate us if we needed to stay longer due to his condition. Her suite was rented but she was not going to see us put out on the street and even offered us the spare room in her own home if we were unable to travel on the following day. Luckily, we were feeling much better the next day, but it was the kindness that she showed that we will remember for ever! Thank you so much for such a fabulous vacation at your beautiful home. We hope to return someday!
My family and I decided to go North-East for Spring Break and debated on staying downtown in Toronto for the "Experience". Glad we opted for staying here instead. Joy greeted us and showed us around the property and even left a starter basket of breakfast foods to get us going. View of the lake was spectacular and the rental gave us plenty of room to relax. Uniquely decorated and well stocked with brochures and local info. Loved the reading nook and the easy access to the city. 15-20 minute drive depending on the traffic. Was able to find our way around quite easily even without GPS. WiFi access was great also. Would definitely consider returning and staying here again. Thanks Joy!
