About the property

Lodge, 4 Bedrooms + Detached Unit, 4.5 Baths, (Sleeps 20)

WINTER: Snow bound in the winter months, guests ski or snowshoe 3.9 MILES in to this backcountry ski lodge. There is NO VEHICLE ACCESS TO THE LODGE IN THE WINTER. Please do not contact us if you're coming to ski at local resorts. We're not the place you're looking for.

SUMMER: Come enjoy the best of a Sierra Summer! Hike to secret waterfalls. Play in private creeks. Run with the dogs, roast marshmallows with the kids. Soak in jacuzzi tubs. Play chef in a gourmet kitchen. Create your own adventure!

Summer Access: Hike or Mountain Bike 4 miles to the lodge or drive to our summer parking area, only 1/4 mile away. 4wd vehicles recommended.. The 4 mile road to the lodge is dirt and bumpy. Currently, NO parking onsite.

The LOST TRAIL LODGE is a hidden backcountry retreat. We have been renting the lodge for about 20 years now and have been featured in such publications as the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, National Geographic Travel Magazine, Sunset, and many more. Our guests come from all over the globe and keep coming back.

THE LODGE: Our place is a 3700 square foot home comprised of 4 cabin-like bedrooms attached to a central family room and kitchen. Each bedroom has between 1 and 5 beds, it's own entrance from the deck, parlor stove, and private bathroom; 3 of which have jacuzzi tubs. There is also a separate cabin overlooking a creek with a double sized bed. We have a total of 15 beds and can sleep up to 20 people. The kitchen has a double oven Wolf range with 6 burners and a double griddle, 2 sinks and granite tile counters. Americana decor fills each room and our glowing fire offers a warm welcome to everyone who comes to our door.

ECO TRAVEL: We are completely off grid. Solar panels supply all of our power.

INN KEEPERS will be on the grounds to 'keep the lights on' and everything running smoothly during your stay. We respect your privacy and won't interfere with your group, but are available to answer questions and suggest restaurants and hiking trails. (Think of us as your personal concierge!)

'NEIGHBORHOOD': We are surrounded by forest in all directions. Our nearest full-time neighbor is about 1/4 mile down the road. The views are beautiful! There's great skiing in the winter and hiking, biking and horse-back riding in the summer. We're in the perfect spot to hide away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

CIVILIZATION: If you're looking for a little action, we are 4 miles from the historic town of Truckee where good restaurants and boutique shopping can be found. Donner lake is a short drive away (4 miles), and Lake Tahoe is just a little bit further (about 17 miles to the north shore) World famous Squaw Valley is only 30 minutes away. There are events occurring there year-round. We are in California, but not far from the Nevada border where gambling awaits all day and all night.
