Our stay was relaxing and comfortable. Karl was very helpful navigating the property and making himself available in the event we needed anything.
The property is very private and Lake Garfield is peaceful and relaxing! The area offers many outdoor activities and delicious dining options or choose to stay put enjoying all the amenities the cabin has to offer.
Looking forward to another visit soon!
Thank you Karl!
My family wanted to have a peaceful winter break and we certainly found it with this cabin. It was charming and comfortable. We enjoyed being in the woods with a short walk to the lake. The master bedroom was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Karl, the host, made himself accessible and came up to meet us. He was a great host. As it was winter, we kept the wood-burning stove going, which added to the charm and comfort. The cabin was stocked with all of the basics you could need. Overall, we had a wonderful week.
Great house and great access to the lake. There is a dock just a short five minute walk down the road that you can relax on and swim off of. Bring some floaties and you can just float in the water all day. Perfect for swimming. If you have little kids, the beach nearby might be better. But the dock was perfect for my friends and I to sit and relax all day. We loved it. The house was clean and nice and had everything we needed. Karl was very helpful.
The house can be a little hard to find at night in the dark, so make sure to follow the directions Karl emails you. The GPS might lead you astray.
We had a great time.
this was the perfect, easy getaway for my husband, 22-month-old, and I. the house has everything you need, especially if you like to cook as much as we do, and karl couldn't have been more accommodating, even though he was miles away while we were there. he called and gave me the run down before our arrival, and told me to call whenever i needed. the home phone was not working, and we didn't have reception on our cells, but we relished in disconnecting for 5 days. plus, the area seems very friendly, and the neighbors weren't too far (tho the property is very private) in case of emergencies. most of the time, we read our books in the back yard and listened to the trees in the wind. i can't wait to go back! VERY comfortable king-sized bed to boot…and lots of great, vintage children's books and movies for those who have kids…cozy cottage living!
We have rented this property twice in recent years. It is a lovely, well maintained, spacious home. We love the fireplace and the master suite. The only bummer is that there is now AT&T cell service. I loved that everyone had to be off the grid - together! Not many places left to get away from technology. Certainly no fault of Karl or the property of course. Karl is also always up to date on the cultural goings-on nearby. It's fun to have a local's knowledge of where to hear great live music.
We had such a good time at this house! It’s clean and very comfortable, with a good kitchen and bathroom equipment, a nice Tempur-Pedic bed in the master bedroom (you can even heat the mattress during cold nights, which is a wonder if you have rheumatism like me), an efficient wood-stove in the living-room and even a piano for music lovers. There is a lovely lawn behind the house where both our cat and dog had fun all day long, as well as a balcony on the second floor where I loved sipping my morning tea in the morning sun.
Most of all, it’s located right in the middle of the woods and very close to Lake Garfield, so we completely disconnected from urban stress during the week we stayed there, while also enjoying gourmet shopping at Monterey General Store or having nice little rides in the Berkshires. The owner, Karl, is very professional and hospitable. He had us promise we would come back in the Winter, and it will be hard not to.
Lake Garfield is one of the best lakes in the area. There is private frontage with boat dock and raft for boating, swimming, and fishing; or, the town beach is an easy walk (1.2 mi). Four minutes to Monterey's center (great General Store, evening concerts, library, etc.). Close to Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, Berkshire Theater Festival, Movie Theaters, Stockbridge, Lenox, Norman Rockwell Museum, etc. Majestically peaceful location: pine forest, streams, 40 acres---perfect for hiking and walking. Beautiful fall foliage; winter skiing and snowshoeing; air conditioning in master bedroom.
Other Activities: Much theater, concerts, clubs (& concerts in Monterey)
