What makes this house unique

Stunning views and a comfortable environment.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at here and the views are truly incredible! It was convenient with our own parking spot, and we loved the personalized signs they had upon our arrival. The living area was comfortable and the food they left in the fridge for breakfast made it very covenient. Overall they were very helpful and we have nothing negative to say.

Beautiful, private retreat from reality

  • 5 of 5

This property is exceptionally well-maintained with wonderful amenities. The beach gear was a great plus and the air conditioning in the bedroom was perfect to help us nod off to sleep. It is wonderfully secluded but with quick access to a main highway. The view is brilliant and the sunsets stunning. Five isn't enough stars.

The property looked exactly like the photos! I did not think it was possible for the place to look that amazing! The house was spotless and renovated. We used the kitchen to cook breakfast every morning to enjoy out on the lanai. I was a little concerned about no air conditioning but with the elevation, there was always a breeze. The house also had fans in each room to keep cool. The owners were very responsive to any emails I sent and responded within 15 minutes to an hour. The property was located in a quiet and safe neighborhood. Perfect getaway location for me and my husband to enjoy our wedding anniversary. I would recommend this property to all of my friends and family!

Secluded little gem!

  • 5 of 5

We spent 10-days in this wonderful little place. I was overly worried about the fact there was no air conditioning since we had some toasty 86 degree days. Mostly concerned about the lack of A/C when it came to sleeping, but leaving the windows open, and turning on the fans worked really well. I was so relieved!

The place is centrally located, actually in an absolutely perfect location. Close to everything, and you feel peaceful, and almost isolated when you are there. There is a lovely sound of the birds, no traffic noise at all, and a perfect patio and sunsets. The patio is a huge highlight. We loved having breakfast there, and watching the sunset with a couple of cocktails in the evening.

The pool was great addition, we used in 2-3 times during our stay.

The place was immaculate. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking tools & gadgets. They have a great selection of beach gear.

We put over 1200 miles on the rental car, traveled all over the island, snorkeled almost daily, dined out 1-2 times a day, and every day - without exception - we would exclaim how happy we were to come home to this little gem of a place! It has a great feel to it. We absolutely loved our stay! There is a reason this place has such great reviews and is always booked.

Amy and Paul are delightful. We met them once, and got to chat our first day. They are extremely warm, and gracious people. They care about you being their guest; you can tell it's not just a business to them, they truly love hosting you, and they respect your privacy. So much so you may never see them again. We passed them once on the street during our stay. Seeing the type of people the owners are made me really glad we decided to stay here. Amy and Paul go out of their way to make sure you are cared for, and that is the icing on the cake.

We lived by *Yelp* and the recommendation of friends for dining. Here are some places to consider. Check out their reviews.

Daylight Minds - excellent breakfast and lunch!

Huggo's and Huggo's "On the Rocks"

Hilo side - Big Island Brewhaus

Annie's Fresh Island Burgers

Da Poke Shack (both locations)

The Coffee Shack

Lava Lava Beach Club $$$

Beach Tree - Four Seasons $$$

808 Grindz Café (large servings, reasonably priced, excellent breakfast)

Wonderful Stay

  • 4 of 5

As a frequent traveler to the Big Island, I admit, I approached this rental with some concern. It was an ohana unit below the main house. That can be problematic. I am delighted to say this rental turned out to be exceptional.

There are many positives:

1. During our two week stay we found the rental to be extremely quiet. I never saw either Amy or Paul. I never heard them. There house is located in a very peaceful well maintained neighborhood.

2. The rental is small but comfortable. It has a living area/kitchen, bedroom and nice bathroom. It was immaculate. The kitchen had everything you needed to cook. The bbq was great. In two weeks I saw no bugs, a rarity in the islands. Nicely furnished and a comfy bed. The garden was beautiful.

3.The location just off Lako was great. It's a two minute drive to the Queen K highway that can take you to all the Island sights. It's also close to the Kuakini Highway which gives you direct access to central Kailua-Kona. Finally, it's a few minutes drive to the cute village of Holualoa.

4. The view from the lanai of Kailua-Kona was superb. The view from the pool was better. Have your camera ready at sunset.

5. The price was very reasonable. I'd have to say this is a great value.

6. Because of it's elevation, it's a little cooler than Kailua Kona. Believe me this is a good thing.

The unit is perfect for most travelers, especially those on a budget. The owners were very easy to work with, which is always important. I highly recommend it.

Such a lovely oasis in Hawaii

  • 5 of 5

April, 2016 - We are so happy we found the perfect place for us to stay in Hawaii thru VRBO. It was comfortable, just secluded enough and what a lovely view! No air conditioning is needed with all the windows open to the nice breezes and with ceiling fans in every room, it made for nice sleeping. We ate breakfast at "home" every day during our stay and packed a picnic lunch in the Coleman freezer bag that was available for our use. We appreciated the beach bag, beach towels, boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, beach chairs, etc. - everything to help make our trip memorable. There is so much to pack in in a day on this island, we found packing a picnic lunch every day allowed us to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible. A couple of highlights. 1. We booked a 4 hour snorkeling trip with Seaquest to the Place of Refuge and Captain Cook Monument. So amazing and very well organized. 2. We drove to Hilo across the Saddle Road, drove up 9,200 feet above sea level on Mauna Kea into the clouds and then on to some amazing hiking in Volcanoes National Park. There is more than one day of things to do in this area and as it is approximately 3 hours to get to the Park from Kona (with interesting stops along the way), we decided to book a bed and breakfast for one night in the village of Volcano. It was the right decision for us. Returning to relax in our "home" after two days of sightseeing was just what we needed. The pool was an added bonus and although we didn't use it much just because we weren't home much during the day, we appreciated being able to cool off in the pool after a very hot trail walk one day. Our Big Island trip was all we expected and then some. Thank you Amy and Paul for making our stay so comfortable. We hope to come back some day and will definitely recommend your place to any couple considering a vacation on the Big Island. Marshall and Cathy, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
