Secluded Cabin-Spectacular Views

No matter the season, Bear Pause provides a great retreat for you and your family. Breathtaking views highlight this secluded mountainside getaway 1.5 miles from charming Gatlinburg. Snuggle up by the stone fireplace on the soft leather sofa or comfy recliner and enjoy a DVD or your favorite TV show on the new flatscreen television.

The expansive windows in the upstairs loft/gameroom allow you a picturesque mountain view as you play pool on a professional quality billiards table. At night, lie in bed and watch the twinkling lights of Gatlinburg and Ski Mountain, or just take in the view from the outdoor Jacuzzi. Each bedroom has a flatscreen, satellite TV and a DVD player for watching your favorite movies...but you may prefer the stars overhead to the ones on the screen.

The cabin has full broadband Internet access.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Jim,

Just wanted to say.....WOW! Your cabin provided the perfect "home" for our vacation! The cabin was beautiful and just great to come back to after a day of hiking, rafting, sightseeing. We really enjoyed the hot tub, view and pool table! The road to the cabin made me a little nervous but luckily we only had to pass by 3 cars during the week.

The location was great too - just what we were looking for. Easy enough to get to the park but close to dowtown Gatlinburg. We really enjoyed a restaurant that just opened earlier this year that is close by on 321 - Ogles Brick Oven Italian - just in case you are back to enjoy your cabin.

I hope we have the opportunity to rent your beautiful cabin again!

A Piece of Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent 5 nights at this beautiful cabin. It was beyond perfect for a family of 5 needing down time. Very clean and convienient to Gatlinburgs main strip...walking distance! Easy trip Down the mountain..great exercise walking back UP :) The hot tub on deck, gas grill, pool table, Dish TV, surround sound, and of course 2 visits by a bear! Perfect touch...almost staged. He wondered on the deck looked around and wandered back up the mountain. We will definately be back !!!!! Mark, Linda and Family

Secluded mountain side retreat

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was the perfect retreat after a day of playing in the park, Gatlinburg or pigeon forge. It was very private-secluded but only a couple minutes drive from the main strip in Gatlinburg. We enjoyed the hot tub on the deck after a long hike and even got to see a black bear. We found the cabin equipped with everything we needed and the layout was perfect for our party of 4. Once you stay in a VRBO property like this there is simply no way to go back to the hotel scene. The check in-out procedure was a breeze and communication with the owner was great. I highly recommend this cabin if you are staying in the area with 2 couples or a small family. Go kick back, relax and enjoy the mountains.

Wonderful Time!

  • 5 of 5

We have a fabulous time and really enjoyed our stay at "Bear Pause". The road to/from the cabin was just as intimidating as other reviews had mentioned, but we found ourselves getting used to it by the end of the trip. Would definitely recommend arriving before dark. We loved seeing God's creation close-up! We saw a deer from the front porch, and we had two bear encounters (one on the front doorstep!) Would definitely recommend staying a Bear Pause for a memorable vacation experience!

Great location close to town but feels like miles away

  • 5 of 5

My family spent 4 days at Bear Pause and loved it. The location is perfect, about a mile from Gatlinburg but it feels like you are miles out.

The cabin itself is very nicely appointed with all the conveniences of home. It was very clean and well stocked, just a nice "feel" the minute you walk in the door.

We have stayed in the area 4 times over the last 10 years and the combination of location and the cabin itself makes this our new favorite...we plan to return.

Very Pleasant Stay

  • 4 of 5

We stayed the day after Christmas and stayed till January 1st. The cabin itself is beautiful, as well as the area. Everything was comfortable and the views were spectacular. We also enjoyed the pool room and the hot tub. If you have a dog or a small child, be careful...there are some slats missing in the railing around the house by the hot tub and our dog was close to falling through! Although we would definitely rent here again because we had a fantastic fun yet relaxing trip, we were a little disappointed in some of the cleanliness of the cabin, some lightbulbs missing or out, and remote control batteries dead. Be prepared to bring most of your essentials (paper towels, toilet paper, cleaners, food, etc.). They do supply you with a roll of paper towels and a roll of toilet paper in each bathroom, but that is it. There is a nearby grocery store. You do need to drive to downtown Gatlinburg and all restaurants.

Nice time

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I enjoyed the cabin very much. We found it was well represented by the reviews and management. The cleanness of the cabin needs some improvement but you have to consider that things aren't going to be like home, so bring some disinfected towel with you and you'll be fine. From a maintenance standpoint there was some light bulbs out, a handle needed to be tighten up on the stove, trash pick up outside in the yard were some bear might have got in the trash at some point but didn't pick up his mess. but only minor stuff like that we found. For the price and location of the cabin it was a good deal.
