It was a dream of ours to own a beach house in Hawaii. One day our realtor told us a sandy beachfront property in Ewa Beach was just listed. At first sight, we fell in love with the views and the sound of the gentle surf. We are proud to share our beach home with other families who we hope take the same loving care we do.
The moment I walked in to the living room, I KNEW we made the perfect choice. The view is PHENOMENAL! We opened the patio doors and the view got even better. We rented both Ewa Moon and Hula Moon for our week long trip. My only regret is that we couldn’t stay there forever. The house is beautifully decorated, clean and inviting. To be quite honest, coming from the Midwest, I was a little concerned about not having AC but I would not have wanted to miss the sounds of the waves.
Dr. Dolly and David left us a note on arrival that they needed to do a small maintenance project and would be by during the day. They stayed to visit with us and gave us suggestions on things to do while we were there. It felt like we had known each other for some time.
Even with all the amazing things to do (Waikiki Beach, Diamondhead, Pearl Harbor, The North Shore) I could have been just as content to sit at the sea wall and watch the waves. I highly recommend you consider renting this place for your stay. It has all the comforts of home with an extraordinary view. We have already begun saving for another trip to Hawaii so we can stay there again!
Thanks again Dolly and Dave! Please let us know if you ever want to come to Indiana!
This rental was a wonderful place to stay!! it was very clean & everything worked great! The inside was decorated with antiques & history of Hawaii. It made you feel the beauty & calmness of Hawaii. The home was about 50 feet from the beach. The front yard has a table & chairs next to the beach wall where we spent most of our time watching the ocean. On the front porch there was a swing & rocking chairs. It was a short drive to a Safeway grocery and many other stores etc.We met the owners & they were great people. They were very concerned about our happiness while staying there. We hope to go back to Hawaii again & plan on staying with them again!!!
Our family of 9 including our seven year old grandson enjoyed the Ewa Moon and the Hula Moon rental units for ten nights. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean for both Ewa and Hula Moon. The rooms and furniture had an authentic Hawaiian motif and each units living space accommodated all nine of us. There is also a piano in the downstairs unit. We enjoyed the beach only steps away and also the Ewa public beach a very short drive away. The views of Honolulu and Diamond head during sunrise were beautiful. We walked on the beach most mornings and our grandson loved the waves and helped find beach glass and shells. We did our swimming on other beaches during our travels around Oahu and Hawaii. The upstairs lanai had great views and the porch swing was great for lounging. The property was perfect for our group of 9 everyone had a great time. We traveled all over the island of Oahu, visiting the North Shore for shaved ice at Matsumoto Shaved Ice, the Polynesian Cultural Center for a great show called Ha- Breath of Life and a great Luau, we climbed Diamond Head and hiked into Manoa Falls. We also flew to the big island, Hawaii for a day trip and visited the Volcano National Park. The property is just a short drive from the airport and Pearl Harbor, a great place to visit. The Ewa and Hula moon rental was a great place to return to after each days adventure. We would recommend staying here to friends and family that would enjoy quiet residential living. We hope to visit again someday.
We rented both Ewa and Hula Moon locations for our parents wedding anniversary, 10 adults. Both units were clean and decorated with a true Hawaiian theme. The beach was secluded, private, but rocky. I would not recommend it for small children as the currant and tide are quite strong. Dave the owner was fantastic when we told him one of the ceiling fans was broken – he came out within a few hours and replaced it! We knew the units didn’t have AC when we rented them, however it did not cool down much during mid- July and was quite warm in the evening to try to sleep.
We recommend Germaine’s if you want to see a great Luau – only 25 minutes from Ewa Beach. Also make the drive to Kualoa Ranch on the north side of island, we took the Mountains – Jungle Expedition tour as well as the Ocean Voyage tour….both were excellent. Great place to eat there also and a souvenir shop that was awesome.
The view was worth a million dollars. I rented both Hula and Ewa Moon for my family of 12. At times it was very hot in the house. Most of the time we used the downstairs Ewa Moon and they only slept upstairs because it was quite hot. We found both units clean and comfortable. We did see a few cockroaches in the house probably due to the heat, as the house was clean. We didn't use the beach as the tide was in most of the time when we would get back to the house but just having the view was enough to keep us on the porch at all times. Although the house is a ways from attractions I'd recommend staying there due to the quiet and getting away from the hustle and bustle and commercialism of Honolulu. We ate all but 1 meal at the house everything we needed to cook was at our disposal, Great place to stay!!!!
I rented both the Hula Moon and Ewa Moon units for a ladies trip, 8 of us total. It was spacious and nicely located for all of us.
The house is exactly as described only the pictures are a little outdated (house is a different color on the outside now) and don't do it justice, the house was better than expected and so were the views. Very clean. The only con I found was most of the house cools down at night for sleeping but there was one bedroom that didn't (upper level) and it was really warm during the day, but that was to be expected. The upper level in general was hot (but we expected it to be). We mainly congregated in the lower level and on the porches, we used the lower levels kitchen because it was bigger and had seating for all of us. On our first night in the upper level there was a cockroach in one of the bedrooms (the bedroom that was super hot) but warm weather is their natural habitat so could happen anywhere, it wasn't because the place was dirty. We only saw the one.
The beach area is more oceanfront than beachfront depending on the tide, the beach hours seemed to be in the morning, but well there's beaches all over so it's not hard to find another if the tide is too high.
It's in a nice quiet residential neighborhood and away from touristy areas. The neighbors who live local were friendly and helpful as were the neighbors also there for vacation. We made friends with a couple of the local neighbors and one even invited us to a party they were having at their house so we went. The con of being in a residential area most attractions are 40-60 minute drive with traffic (but great views along the way).
Aside from some picture updates the only other thing is the lock boxes the keys are in could be updated they're hard to open and close but we were able to do both with them.
Parking is a bit tight but still adequate (we had 2 cars), the houses on the street are close together and there's a lot of people parking on the road so it's sometimes hard to see backing out.
Dolly & David were good about answering any questions we had prior to our arrival but we didn't have any issues while we were there so we didn't contact them while we were there.
Wifi worked great.
I would definitely stay there again and recommend to others.
