It was a dream of ours to own a beach house in Hawaii. One day our realtor told us a sandy beachfront property in Ewa Beach was just listed. At first sight, we fell in love with the views and the sound of the gentle surf. We are proud to share our beach home with other families who we hope take the same loving care we do.
The view was worth a million dollars. I rented both Hula and Ewa Moon for my family of 12. At times it was very hot in the house. Most of the time we used the downstairs Ewa Moon and they only slept upstairs because it was quite hot. We found both units clean and comfortable. We did see a few cockroaches in the house probably due to the heat, as the house was clean. We didn't use the beach as the tide was in most of the time when we would get back to the house but just having the view was enough to keep us on the porch at all times. Although the house is a ways from attractions I'd recommend staying there due to the quiet and getting away from the hustle and bustle and commercialism of Honolulu. We ate all but 1 meal at the house everything we needed to cook was at our disposal, Great place to stay!!!!
I rented both the Hula Moon and Ewa Moon units for a ladies trip, 8 of us total. It was spacious and nicely located for all of us.
The house is exactly as described only the pictures are a little outdated (house is a different color on the outside now) and don't do it justice, the house was better than expected and so were the views. Very clean. The only con I found was most of the house cools down at night for sleeping but there was one bedroom that didn't (upper level) and it was really warm during the day, but that was to be expected. The upper level in general was hot (but we expected it to be). We mainly congregated in the lower level and on the porches, we used the lower levels kitchen because it was bigger and had seating for all of us. On our first night in the upper level there was a cockroach in one of the bedrooms (the bedroom that was super hot) but warm weather is their natural habitat so could happen anywhere, it wasn't because the place was dirty. We only saw the one.
The beach area is more oceanfront than beachfront depending on the tide, the beach hours seemed to be in the morning, but well there's beaches all over so it's not hard to find another if the tide is too high.
It's in a nice quiet residential neighborhood and away from touristy areas. The neighbors who live local were friendly and helpful as were the neighbors also there for vacation. We made friends with a couple of the local neighbors and one even invited us to a party they were having at their house so we went. The con of being in a residential area most attractions are 40-60 minute drive with traffic (but great views along the way).
Aside from some picture updates the only other thing is the lock boxes the keys are in could be updated they're hard to open and close but we were able to do both with them.
Parking is a bit tight but still adequate (we had 2 cars), the houses on the street are close together and there's a lot of people parking on the road so it's sometimes hard to see backing out.
Dolly & David were good about answering any questions we had prior to our arrival but we didn't have any issues while we were there so we didn't contact them while we were there.
Wifi worked great.
I would definitely stay there again and recommend to others.
Do you have a family with young children that like to play on the beach? Want a taste of vintage Hawaii in a centrally located residential neighborhood? Is it important to you to have good responsive communication with management? Then the Hula and Ewa Moons will be perfect for you! Our family of ten (children ages 5, 6, 7,14) ALL loved this clean, spacious, and well appointed house! From the luxurious bed linens and the plethora of reading materials, to the authentic and historic Hawaiian furniture and decor, this house is comfortable and practical while still being interesting and fun. I thought that not having AC would really bother us (and a couple of times the upstairs DID get quite warm) but overall, with ceiling fans in each room and large box fans on each floor, it was okay... and leaving the windows open to the sea breezes and the sound of the ocean was relaxing and soothing. Want to make wonderful family memories to last a lifetime? Stay here!
We actually rented the Blue Moon for 2 weeks and both the Hula and Ewa Moon for 9 days for our group of 16 family members traveling for our daughter's wedding. It was a marvelous experience and the kids especially loved the beach access, playing with their cousins, spending time with distant uncles and aunts, and seeing their great grandmother (my mom, who at 85 was visiting Hawaii for her first time). Dave and Dolly were very accommodating and helpful throughout and afterwards. The property is very well maintained. And the views are priceless.
We booked this property for our girls softball team that was coming for a softball tournament in Oahu. We rented the whole property for our team of 18 people.
The property was very clean, the house and cottage were very spacious, clean and we were excited to see the yard and beach area that the girls could spend some time in while they were on downtime from playing softball.
The bedrooms are a good size, beds were comfortable & cross winds were appreciated that came through the windows in the heat of the day.
Kitchens were fully stocked with dishes and appliances to use. Lots of space in the kitchens for more than 2 people to help make meals.
The girls enjoyed swimming in the ocean, enjoyed the water toys that were provided at the property. As well, some of them even enjoyed riding the tour bicycles down to Silvas store for shaved ice.
We would recommend this property to anyone and I know that some of the families in our group already have mentioned renting this property again in the future for trips to Oahu.
Dave & Dolly were great to communicate with. Dolly always stayed in touch, letting me know when they would be away and who to contact while they were on the mainland. They were great to deal with for the rental.
We would not hesitate recommending this property to others. The pictures posted here are what you see when you arrive, it is probably one of the best rentals in Ewa Beach!
Mahalo Dolly & Dave for your hospitality!
Aloha Dolly & Dave...
We were a family group....ranging in ages from 2 to 65 plus years of age. We stayed at and occupied the bigger property(both Ewa & Hula Moon). Even with all of us in the house....there was plenty of space for everyone to do their own thing, lounge around & relax, or catch up on some reading on one of many lawn chairs.
As a parent it gives me great joy seeing my kiddies playing with their cousins at the back of the house...be it chasing each other around with water balloons/water guns or playing in the sand/ocean. Hopefully these new memories they've created will last them a lifetime.
Even though this is my first time in Oahu, I think the property is pretty centralized....it's close to everything. It takes about 30 minutes to get to downtown Honolulu. But beware and watch out, try not to get stuck in rush hour!!!! lol It happened to us when we were coming back from Downtown Honolulu...traffic was barely crawling, it was as bad as back home(Vancouver - BC, Canada), but mind you I think that's the same with everywhere in any big city around the world.
Mahalo Dolly & Dave....Dave, it was a pleasure meeting you in person. I admire and envy how youthful you look for your age......I guess all that yard work and surfing keeps you very fit and looking young, maybe I should take up surfing eh? ^_^ Everyone in our group can't wait to come back!!!
