All bunks were handmade for us. They were built to accomodate adults. The Driveway is paved with ample parking for 3-5 cars. Additional cars can be parked on the shoulder of the road across from our home. For the disabled or elderly, there is only one step from our driveway into our home.
Three of our four grandchildren live in Harrisonburg. We found ourselves visiting Harrisonburg at least once a month and we always stayed with our son and his family. When their third child arrived five years ago we knew staying with them just wouldn't work. We needed more room as a family especially when our other two children, their spouses, and our fourth granchild came to visit. So we built a home large enough for our frequent family get-togethers.
There are so many things to do and see in the Massanutten area that none of our family ever gets bored. Whether it's hiking in the National Forest that abuts the Resort, or Skyline Drive just a few minutes away, or skiing or tubing in the winter, or using the pools that are available, we all have fun and get a chance to RELAX. The views from our upper deck are spectacular, whether it's the ski slopes in the distance, the golfers on the course below our deck, the sunrise that creeps over our home in the morning, or the sunset that slides below the mountain across the valley. If you want to unwind, this is the place.
Our staff just returned from a retreat at this location. It's perfect for a getaway to work or play. Very spacious and had everything we needed. Scene from the deck is beautiful. Carol is super to work and communicate with. Would definitely recommend.
We stayed at the Sungrazer with another family - 8 of us altogether, 4 adults and 4 children. We had an amazing weekend. There was so much to do on the resort and the Sungrazer was a wonderful home to return to at the end of the day. The property is comfortable and clean. The kitchen was fully stocked so we were able to prepare and serve our own meals. The kids really loved the bunk beds. The view from the decks is amazing. We will definitely return!
We held a family reunion at The Sungrazer, it was perfect. The view is amazing and there is so much to do close by. There were 15 of us and we had plenty of room and everyone had a bed to sleep in. The kitchen is well stocked to accommodate cooking meals. Prior to check in Carol was very responsive to answer any questions we had. All of the check in instructions we clear and she did not miss anything. Great vacation spot!
The Sungrazer is a wonderful property for a relaxing mountain getaway. The views from the deck are fabulous. The house met all of our group's needs and was comfortable and homey. The owner Carol keeps everything simple so there is no hassle with the details. We would definitely choose this spot again for our next getaway.
I rented the Sungrazer for 10 close friends who were traveling into town for my wedding weekend. They were so happy with the house, as it was far more comfortable and spacious than a handful of hotel rooms (and far less expensive, too!) Carol was very responsive in answering all of our questions, and check-in and check-out was very easy. The bridal party stayed nearby, so I was able to visit the house a couple times for a common meal which was easy to prepare and enjoy given the well equipped kitchen and large table. We also had a blast running a round-robin foosball tourney:-) The views from the balcony were amazing both day and night, and there is plenty to do on the mountain. Several of my friends took advantage of the mini-golf course and pool, while others enjoyed the zip line canopy tour. I plan to rent the Sungrazer again in the future, and I absolutely recommend it for your trip to Shenandoah Valley!!!
We are eight adult men who visited the Harrisonburg area on a golf outing. We really enjoyed staying at the sungrazer. It was much more enjoyable than 4 hotel rooms and less expensive. Carol was very easy to deal with so renting the house and checking in was very easy. The house met all of our needs and was very comfortable, clean, and well equipped. We plan to lease the Sungrazer the next time we return to that area.
The Sungrazer is about 15 minutes from Harrisonburg and JMU. It is a also a short distances from caves and Civil War sites and antiquing. UVA and Monticello are about 30 minutes by car.
Activities on Massanutten include golfing, skiing, snow tubing, ice skating, summer tubing, a Go Kart Course, an outdoor pool in the summer, and mini-golf.
There are 2 golf courses and the golf course has a restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The Great Western Water Park is on the Resort. It is open year round. The Water Park site includes a gift shop, a game room, and several restaurants.
Spa services are also available at the Resort.
