The Mariah at Windswept is a 2-story, 2-bedroom townhouse that comfortably accommodates up to 6 people. Bathed in warm colors and ample sunlight, appointed in original artwork and topped off with the latest technology, the villa’s 2 master bedrooms, reading nook and living areas show off both personality and class.
Ocean Views From A King-Sized Bed
In the morning, enjoy the ocean view from the warmth of your plush custom-built king-sized bed. During the day, let your toes sink into the handwoven wool rugs that punctuate the property, and take advantage of the kitchen, complete with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances.
In the evening, linger over the ocean view from living room deck before settling in to the finely-styled living room for a conversation about the day’s events or to watch your favorite movie on the large flat panel television.
Both master bedrooms have memory-foam matresses, Egyptian-cotton sheets, down-alternative pillows and large flat panel smart televisions. Twin inflatable aero-beds are also available – we find these to be more comfortable, easier to manage and more versatile than sleeper sofas.
Enjoy time in the private reading nook tucked in the upstairs master bedroom, which has stunning landscape/ocean views. Don’t be surprised to find yourself spending hours here, book and glass of wine in hand.
Both master bedrooms have connecting bathrooms. Upstairs, a double vanity, oversized tub and separate shower offer ample room to prep for a night out on the town, and the downstairs bathroom has a tub/shower combination.
Steps to the Atlantic Ocean on Kiawah's East Beach
Located just 30 minutes from historic downtown Charleston on Kiawah’s East Beach, this vacation property is ideally situated. The beach is unsurprisingly a favorite destination – and from here, it’s literally steps to the Atlantic Ocean. A cooler and beach towels are conveniently available in the Mariah. All you have to do is have a good time!
Beyond the beach, put some walking shoes on and check out the nearby shops and restaurants. Several miles of bike trail also wind throughout the island; rent a bike and get peddling!
This popular villa is a Saturday-through-Saturday rental during the summer. If you need more space or your preferred dates are unavailable, consider staying in the 3-bedroom Penthouse, located one floor up in the same building or the 2-bedroom Topside, located in the adjacent oceanfront building.
About Property Managers, Shawn and Jeanette Lawson (Kiawah Island Getaways):
Shawn's family discovered Kiawah in 1978 and returned year after year for two-week vacations. In 1985 we drove our VW Bug convertible to Kiawah and Shawn introduced me to Kiawah. I remember stepping over the dune boardwalk out in front of the Kiawah Island Inn and seeing Kiawah's wide, sandy beach for the first time - it was so brilliant it practically danced before my eyes. It was during this vacation that the two of us decided to set our sights on moving to this beautiful and fascinating place permanently.
In 1988 our dreams came true and our U-Haul rattled across the Kiawah Island bridge (at that time it was nothing more than a wood-planked bridge). For the next four years we rented a 1-bedroom villa, 4251 Mariner's Watch. Shawn was so thrilled to be living on the island that he applied for the personalized South Carolina license plate 'KIAWAH' (which we still have today).
In 1992, we built our first home on the island at 134 Conifer Lane. During construction, I gave birth to our first son Benjamin - he arrived 2 months early in an ambulance outside of the Kiawah Island Fire Station.
In 2001, we purchased our first villa, a 1-bedroom, beachside Seascape and Kiawah Island Getaways was born. Once we got our feet wet with the villa rental business, it was a like a fever for us. We both really enjoyed furnishing, decorating and maintaining the villas - not to mention the new found fun of meeting and talking to all sorts of people about Kiawah. Because we really enjoy what we do, other Kiawah property owners noticed and we started managing their properties as well.
Our whole family loves Kiawah and running Kiawah Island Getaways is a true family-run business. We personally prepare each villa prior to your arrival - because we want your stay to be perfect. We want you to fall in love with Kiawah too...and we know you will.
From the high-end designer furnishings, unique art and ironwork to the ocean views from the property’s balcony, the Mariah at Windswept offers luxurious comforts.
Your unit (The "Mariah") is the nicest I've stayed in since coming back to visit Kiawah, that's eight trips in a little over two years, staying at villas through Kiawah Island Resort, Pam Harrington and Resort Quest. It is very guest-friendly and the wireless high-speed internet has been flawless!
This unit was everything we expected and more. We loved it and plan to return.
The villa lived up to our expectations and them some. It was easy getting onto the island with our printed guest pass, and was a beautiful, scenic drive to the villa. We couldn't believe how quite it was all over the island! The villa was located on the 3rd floor and we never once had to wait for the elevator. As soon as we walked into the villa, we were met with a pleasant fragrance, lights on, peaceful music playing and just a very inviting atmosphere. The size of the villa was perfect for our party of 6, which included 3 children. What was most helpful was that the kitchen was stocked with all the essentials, so you don't have to buy all those extra things that you only need for the stay - salt and pepper, sugar, dish soap, paper towels, etc. Everything was very neat and labeled really well. The decorations were beautiful and felt unique to the space. And the beds...they were so plush and comfortable, from the sheets to the pillows and duvet. There were also toys, games and DVD's supplied, which was nice for the kids. We found the Freshfields village pretty quickly and dined there 2 nights out of the week, as well as picked up groceries. The drive was only about 5-10 mins from the villa. We never used the Night Heron park pool, but it was very close, and we were told that it was heated. We did take the kids to the Night Heron park and nature center, which was only about a 10 min walk from the villa. We drove to Charleston one day, and the only traffic we experienced was on our drive back around 4 pm, but it moved fairly quickly. Overall the villa was immaculate, well maintained and organized and very homey. We were pleasantly surprised with how quiet it was all over the island. One thing to note, bring bikes if you can! It was too hard for us to get the entire family a bike to ride, considering our 4 year old can't ride a bike yet, but we would have loved to take advantage of all the lovely bike paths. So, if you're looking for a peaceful destination with beautiful surroundings, Kiawah Island and the Mariah are perfect for you! We would come back in a heart beat.
Nice and clean. The owners and managers are very organized and everything was done as promised. Only complaint would be the very soft master bed. If you don't mind, you have lovely views. Also, if you need strollers, be prpared to carry them upnthe first flight. I think all places on the island have the same issue.
Upon arrival, I immediately felt that this was a "home away from home"! All of the comforts and amenities of home exceeded my expectations! We definitely plan on returning!
Thanks so much for allowing us the use of your beautiful villa! Everything was perfect, especially the little details...we've been coming to Kiawah since 1978 and this was the best villa experience we've had so far! A great 40th birthday weekend for my wife!
