About Cleo Risser
My name is Cleo. I am the mother of 2 and currently live in Olympia, WA. I grew up in Lake Quinault and as an 18 year old, could not wait to leave. I attended college on the East coast near Boston, MA and found myself truly missing this beautiful place. I missed the trees, I missed the Pacific ocean beaches, I missed the stars, I missed the sound of the frogs at night and I even missed the ridiculous amounts of rain. I returned to Lake Quinault after college and shortly afterwards, married my best friend who shares my love for the area. We lived in the community for a few years operating his family's business. We moved to Olympia in 2002 to pursue our careers and are now only a 2 hour drive away from our vacation home.
Cleo Risser purchased this House in 1996
Why Cleo Risser chose Grays Harbor County
My husband bought this property well before we built this home together. He recognized the unique beauty of this property sitting at the end of a dead end private drive with so many feet of private lake frontage. We built the home with the intent to live in the valley and operate his family's business. Our paths changed after a few years and we both opted to pursue different careers requiring a move to Olympia. My husband's parents moved into the home and slowly added on. They built the garage and apartment above, they added the spacious recreation room and the sunroom and the garage studio/exercise/game room. After we had our first baby, they retired and moved to Olympia to be near us. We feel grateful to be able to keep this beautiful home in our family while also providing the opportunity to share it with guests who also understand and appreciate the beauty of this unique area!. We visit this beautiful area as much as we can with our family; our two children and our dog love it!
What makes this House unique
The privacy of this property is second to none in the area. I cannot imagine finding another place like this....some of my favorite moments in life have been here...staying up all night laying on the lawn watching a meteor shower...listening to frogs while in the hot tub staring at the mountains across the lake....waking up and sitting with my coffee in the sunroom gazing at the picture perfect scene with a layer of fog reflecting in the lake like glass....sitting around a bonfire with my family and friends telling stories and laughing...teaching my kids to swim...watching the rain pour out of the sky like buckets as the lake level creeps up higher and higher and the electricity flickers during a fine winter storm while snuggled up inside with flashlights ready...

Quiet and Beautiful property
Had a great stay with 12 of us total. It's a huge house with many areas to hangout in. It's important to note that there's only 2 bedrooms, so if you have a large party most will be sleeping in the shared main area of the house. Kitchen was well organized and made cooking large meals easy. The owner was very responsive to questions and requests. Tons of blankets and towels were available too.
Beautiful location and property
We had a great time with the family at this Lake Quinault north shore property. It is truly a stunning location on the water. The house is big and has extra space located in adjacent living areas if necessary, but the house is plenty big for a group of 8 or 10. Great kitchen and living rooms. We had a blast and would recommend it to others. We did have some trouble with the hot tub and the propane was virtually empty on the grill, but overall minor issues. Dogs had a great time, lots of space on the lower lawn for the family to roam!
We stayed here with friends to celebrate my fiancé’s 30th Birthday! The house was much larger than the photos made it look!! Was so spacious and comfortably fit all of us. The house was very clean and had everything we could have possibly needed. The view was beautiful and we lucked out with amazing weather. We would definitely stay here again!
Amazing place to stay!
The grounds are wonderful; the views inside and out of the house were amazing! The home is very spacious and the ‘Sun Room’ is just beyond wonderful. The decks do get slippery and icy over-night, but a little ice melt fixes that issue quickly. I would recommend this place to anyone!
The Good Life!
This was the perfect location for our trip! It is indeed secluded, as you felt you had the lake all to yourself. The house had large kitchen and living room space, which was great to lounge and enjoy friends and family.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely escape. The views are of paradise. The house was very comfortable. The windows and inside eaves could've used a good de-cobwebbing, but I imagine this is an ongoing battle since the property is in the middle of the woods. Other than that it was nice and clean. It is also incredibly private. Aside from a few cars on the road when we explored the area, we saw nary a soul. It is pure magic to have the entire space to yourselves. The beach area is wonderful, and there is a little marshy area to look at, as well. It was such a pleasure in the morning to stand on the deck and watch the birds flit in and out of the blackberry bushes and such. The hot tub is a very nice addition, but be careful! It is deep, slick and tricky to get in and out of without slipping. It took down both my husband and I separately, at points. Luckily we bounce. The kitchen and other amenities are also great. We weren't expecting a full kitchen and good cable in such a remote location, which was a nice surprise, though truth be told we didn't spend much time inside. It's truly difficult to tear oneself away from those views. Amazing. We will definitely be staying here again!
