Overview

About the property

Beautiful Riverfront, Spacious 5 Bedroom, 5 Bath (Sleeps 10-12),

There comes a time when you need to pamper yourself. Grandview Manor offers you this opportunity. Imagine a vacation where the hustle and bustle of vacation angst is not felt or even thought of. Awake in the morning with a view from the Master suite of your private riverfront where the nearest person is nearly 1/4 mile away from you, your coffee is fresh, steaming and the morning dew is still on the ground. As the day warms up your biggest decision is whether to cross the compound to play tennis or go for a swim, or maybe if fishing is more to your liking, then stroll out to your 100 ft pier and cast a line. You may catch a mouth-watering flounder, a puppy drum or maybe some delicious Chesapeake Bay blue crabs. The end of the day may begin with a toddy on one of the grand porches as the water in the Jacuzzi fills waiting for you.

Your biggest challenge at Grand View Manor is learning to relax. We will provide the surroundings; you provide the relaxation!

Also great for family reunions, weddings/receptions, corporate retreats! On Facebook go to Grand View Manor, Mathews, Va for additional photos.

What A Treat!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying at the Grandview Manor for our nephew’s wedding weekend. Wow, this place is awesome! The grounds are very well kept and the spacious house was able to comfortably handle our large family. The two master suites on the first floor are great. We enjoyed playing tennis, using the pool, and relaxing in this unique home. The kitchen is well stocked for a crowd.

We had the most relaxing vacation because of the preparation that the owner and caretaker provided. One of our favorite things to do was to sit on the back porch and enjoy the magnificent view of the East River!

We highly recommend this fabulous rental home. It simply does not get any better than this!

Best Vacation Ever!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 12 had a wonderful time at Grand View! We enjoyed the spacious house and room to spread out for all--loved the 2 living room areas with flat screen TVs and the FABULOUS master suites on the first floor both with big flat screen TVs. The kitchen was very spacious with a great view of the water and dock. We hung out on the big back porch in late into the evenings and played corn hole on the back lawn overlooking the water. The kids (ages 11-21) loved loved the pool and spent day and night there--lots of pool toys already there. We had older teens who enjoyed the tennis court too! We docked our boat and the guys went fishing out in the Bay everyday and everyone fished and crabbed from the pier too. We had a fish fry one night with all the fish and crabs! The grounds were beautifully maintained! The caretaker was wonderful and even brought us fresh eggs.We went to nearby Gloucester and Mathews for our shopping needs and checked out some of the small shops downtown and had dinner at Willoughby's on the Rappahannock River in White Stone one night ---outstanding seafood and service! This was a peaceful quiet vacation and the kids never wanted to leave the property! I Highly Recommend Grand View to all who want to enjoy spending time with family and friends! Thank You Cathy Leitz (owner) for everything you did to make our vacation the BEST EVER!!! We are already making plans to return next year!

Relaxation Personified

  • 5 of 5

My husband and our three adult children and our daughter in law spent 5 wonderful days at this beautiful property. We swam in the pool, fished off the pier, read on the porch, played corn hole, played tennis, played trivia and spent time together cooking and eating. We ate out only one night. I was a little worried that our children might be bored with the slow relaxing pace but we found plenty to do and there was ample room to spread out both inside and outside. Thank you for sharing your beautiful property with us. It was extremely private and serene. I certainly hope that we can come back in the future.

Amazing Memories made to last a Lifetime!

  • 5 of 5

Grand View is the PERFECT place for a quiet getaway, a family gathering, and/or a big celebration. I was here to stay this past weekend with my family and friends. I also held my wedding in front of the beautiful barn. We made all the use out of the property that we could. Our rehearsal dinner took place right on the water, and it was breathtaking. The house itself is immaculate. The property manager is PHENOMENAL and went OUT OF HER WAY to make our stay and wedding day more than special. Highly recommend!

Great Relaxing Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have asked for a better vacation. We had every intention of not cooking one meal the entire long weekend. We ate out one night. We didn't want to leave the great back porch!!! We ate every meal out there.

Jeanie, the caretaker, was so helpful. She was a wealth of knowledge.

The pool was wonderful. We enjoyed it everyday.

Lynne's has a great breakfast and is right down the street.

We are already planning another stay at Granview Manor!

Exceeded Expectations

  • 5 of 5

Our eight-person family recently had the pleasure of spending a week at beautiful Grandview Manor. I'm not sure that my vocabulary possesses the proper superlatives to describe this place, but I will try. A lot of times, you look at sites like this, read the glowing description, commit to rent the place, then get there and you get a lot of disappointment because it is nothing like that description. Not the case with Grandview Manor, though. From the moment we arrived amidst the blooming Crepe Myrtle trees, we were struck by the vast area of well-manicured landscaping surrounding the house. As we toured the house and the pool/tennis court area and saw how clean and well-maintained everything was, it became abundantly clear that the owners really care about their customers. The attention to detail is impressive. The huge first floor master suite on the pool side of the house can best be described as opulent. The master suite on the other side of the house is extremely large and well-appointed. The 2nd floor enclosed porch overlooking the water is memorable.

Outside, the tennis court plays very well. It has a high fence. (So very little chasing after errant balls). The pool house has a seating area as well as a mini kitchen with (most importantly) a refrigerator and and ice maker. The pool is is great shape as well, with a fairly new liner and very comfortable chairs on the deck. The dock is also in extremely good shape. It looks like it will accommodate a boat with a fairly deep draft. I can only imagine how much fun it would be to have a boat docked there.

We cooked just about every night and ate in the dining area adjacent to the kitchen. There is a new 5 burner cooktop with a huge oven and a large prep area.

Our family has stayed at many places over the years. Never have I heard so many oohs and ahhs about a place as I heard during the week we were there. We hated to leave and can't wait to get back.
