This home was originally built in the 1950's and developed over time to respond perfectly to the challenges and opportunities afforded by the Joshua Tree environment. There are 4 different outdoor living areas, all oriented differently. In summer, there is always a shady, glare-free spot to lounge. In winter, you can always find a place to feel the suns welcoming warmth. There is even a great place to enjoy the huge west view without fighting the west sun- anyone who has lived in the desert knows how special that is. There is even an observation platform high above the roof that offers a 360 degree view of the stars that would rival a planetarium.
Indoors, there are lots of different spaces so a person can be as social, or private as the mood strikes. There is even a large, screened in patio- perfect for a kids 'camp-out' or a drowsy afternoon nap.
The interiors are bright and airy. The well appointed kitchen is adjacent to a main outdoor entertaining area- cooks and their crowd can always mingle.
The property is very private, and ensures that your only neighbors are the large covey of quail that live around the house. Children love to watch how, like clockwork, the quail return every evening to roost in the large olive tree next to the house.

No matter what the weather, there is always a fun outdoor spot at this house. But the real unique feature is the proximity to the Park Boundary, and spectacular hiking and bouldering within a 15 minute walk- its like your own private National Park. And, if you feel like taking a walk on the wild side, Pappy and Harriets ( the 'Best Honkeytonk West of the Mississippi') is just 30 minutes away in Pioneertown.
We loved our stay at this house and hope to return someday. It's attractively furnished in a laid back comfortable style. The artwork is appealing and the cactus garden and outdoor patios are beautifully done. It is set up on a hill, feels very private, but is within easy access to the park and town of Joshua Tree. The caring attention to detail in both the house and the garden made us feel welcome and relaxed - the owners have thought of everything you could possibly need. The house was very clean, neat, and uncluttered and Lori and Tony were a complete pleasure to deal with. This is one of the nicest VRBO's we have stayed in.
Beautiful property and grounds. Easy access to Joshua Tree N.P. surrounding restaurants and stores. A few things: lawn chair recliner was ripped unable to use, dishwasher broken, radio did not work. We have stayed @ VRBO's all over the west first time no welcome note or basket. Typically we don't have to buy coffee either, seems the amenities were cheap, single ply toilet paper no Kleenex, magazine's very old etc. The property itself was very nice.
This is the second year my wife and I have rented the Panorama Heights Desert House. We enjoyed it so much last year, we rented for a few days more this time than previously. It would be hard to overstate the charm of this place, especially for those who like the solitude and beauty of the desert. There are so many spaces, inside and out, where it's pleasurable to pass the time. The desert panoramas are truly splendid and the landscaping around the house with fruit trees, palo verdes, cactuses, and much else, is extremely tastefully done. The same is true for the house itself, which is an architectural one-of-a-kind. The sun room, with expansive window views, is so convenient for late-winter days when sitting outside may be just a little to cool. The well-equipped kitchen is a cheerful, well-lighted space, with a wrap-around corner window at the sink, where one tends to spend so much time. The kitchen nook area has large sliding glass doors opening onto the patio, giving a feeling of mingling of the indoors with the outdoor desert environment. And for those amateur astronomers, of which I am one, there is an observation deck above the house, offering unobstructed viewing of the celestial sphere. Even though there were just the two of us on this occasion, there is ample space for at least four people. The owner was always available to us if questions arose. Although there are several fun places to go for supper in the nearby towns, we loved the house so much that we tended to go for a hike in Joshua Tree National Park in the mornings and then spend the rest of the day relaxing about the house and property. This is a clean, well-functioning house and obviously we would like to return again and again.
As another reviewer noted, this property is better than the photos suggest. Beds are comfortable, kitchen is spacious and well-stocked, and the whole house is immaculate. Very comfortable.
Enjoyed Lori's home..very tastefully done, and has everything you need. Enjoyed the cold nights on the porch with the warm fire in the outdoor "Chiminea". The whole Joshua Tree area is so wonderful !
We visited our daughter who had rented this house for a month, we loved the peacefullness, landscaping, roominess of the place. (my husband is in a wheelchair and got around with ease). The dinning room and living room are spacious. We have rented a few homes in Joshua Tree and this one is the most pleasant. We will be back
