Joshua Tree - Panorama Heights Desert House, Views, Privacy

Bedrooms 2
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

House, 2+ Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 2-6)

This home was originally built in the 1950's and developed over time to respond perfectly to the challenges and opportunities afforded by the Joshua Tree environment. There are 4 different outdoor living areas, all oriented differently. In summer, there is always a shady, glare-free spot to lounge. In winter, you can always find a place to feel the suns welcoming warmth. There is even a great place to enjoy the huge west view without fighting the west sun- anyone who has lived in the desert knows how special that is. There is even an observation platform high above the roof that offers a 360 degree view of the stars that would rival a planetarium.

Indoors, there are lots of different spaces so a person can be as social, or private as the mood strikes. There is even a large, screened in patio- perfect for a kids 'camp-out' or a drowsy afternoon nap.

The interiors are bright and airy. The well appointed kitchen is adjacent to a main outdoor entertaining area- cooks and their crowd can always mingle.

The property is very private, and ensures that your only neighbors are the large covey of quail that live around the house. Children love to watch how, like clockwork, the quail return every evening to roost in the large olive tree next to the house.

What makes this house unique

No matter what the weather, there is always a fun outdoor spot at this house. But the real unique feature is the proximity to the Park Boundary, and spectacular hiking and bouldering within a 15 minute walk- its like your own private National Park. And, if you feel like taking a walk on the wild side, Pappy and Harriets ( the 'Best Honkeytonk West of the Mississippi') is just 30 minutes away in Pioneertown.

What a terrific house!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here for the weekend with my two teenage daughters on a spring break trip to the desert. It was our first visit to Joshua Tree, and we hope it won't be our last. The house was beautiful and comfortable - we felt very at home and loved the place. We couldn't get enough of the outdoor spaces and loved watching the wildlife (the quails were awesome!), looking at all the neat plants, and observing the changing light of the desert. It was easy to access the national park from the house, too. Lori was a terrific host and was endlessly patient and helpful.

beautiful property in great condition

  • 5 of 5

we spent 3 nights at this lovely home... it has been very well maintained and is very clean... the home itself is comfortable and well designed.. the owners have thought of everything one might need, right down to extra throw blankets in the living room for cool nights reading or watching a DVD....

we especially appreciated the beautifully outdoor areas, of which there are several... each of them perfectly designed with desert landscaping and comfortable seating areas....

it was our first visit to Joshua Tree and we plan to return... can't imagine staying anyplace else!

Amazing retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our family couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more! The home had everything we needed and was very spacious. The views are incredible and the yard was so fun to explore! My boys and I loved looking at all the different desert plants and finding lizards. Each day we were visited by rabbits and once even a jack rabbit! The icing on the cake - snow flurries one morning!! And after that amazing sight, a small group of quails wandered through.

The beds were nice and cozy. And our favorite room - the sun room was hard to leave behind!

Lori is super easy to work with and very responsive. We needed a few things and she was always accommodating. We enjoy VRBO vacationing and this has been our favorite by far.

beautiful well-maintained property

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent a weekend at Joshua Tree. This is a beautiful, well-maintained property. The place was spotless. The kitchen was full equipped. There was a nice audio-visual system for watching dvd's. The bed was comfortable. There were plenty of towels and linens. The property itself has a view of the valley. There is an observation deck on the roof. The landscaping is beautiful in the desert sense. Although there were only two of us the property could easily accommodate six. I communicated several time with the owner Lori, mainly to say how happy we were with the experience. She responded immediately and is extremely friendly. I recommend highly.

Great house and garden near Joshua Tree National Park

  • 4 of 5

Great clean, spacious house with cactus garden full of birds and animals. This was a perfect house for our winter exploration of Joshua Tree - highlights were breakfast on back patio watching the crazy quail and hoping for a glimpse of the roadrunner! Lovely view over the valley from the various outdoor spaces. House is perfect for those wanting to explore park, but note it is in a sparsely developed area, so shops are some distance away. We had a wonderful stay here and would return....
