Want to enjoy the breathtaking Sierra Mountains from a wonderful 3 bedroom / 2 bath cabin in Truckee?
There's so much to do -- two miles from historic downtown Truckee and the Donner Museum. Right off of Interstate 80 and 89 north so you can get to the lake (Tahoe) in 15 minutes and Reno for more food and entertainment choices (including gambling) in 30. The house sits next to the Tahoe Natl' forest and is just 2 miles from the Truckee River where you can fish, dunk, or go tubing.
There's swimming, water skiing, boating, hiking, biking, golfing and horseback riding. Popular beach and boating areas include Lake Tahoe, Donner and Prosser Lakes, and Boca and Stampede Reservoirs. The national forest has numerous hiking and biking trails and there are several golf courses in the area. This is a perfect location for winter as well, as many ski resorts are within a 10-15 minute drive, such as Northstar or Squaw Valley. Our big front yard is perfect for building snowmen, too!
The 3 bedrooms -- two w/queen beds, one w/two twin beds -- comfortably sleeps 6 (and there's 2 couches for overflow!). The two bathrooms have two full tub/shower with strong water pressure! You'll have all the conveniences you'll need to have a great time – TVs in several rooms, DVDs, a piano (for those musically adept), games, books, and more.
You can find our rates below. There is NO minimum stay required! There is a $125 cleaning charge and a refundable security deposit of $500 (within 7 days of vacating) for each stay.
Sorry, no pets.

We fell in love with the Sierras and Truckee in particular because of its quaint yet hip feel, and when we saw this property we knew immediately that we had to have it. It's convenience to Lake Tahoe, ski resorts, Reno, night life, and the property's quiet surroundings make it a perfect home base. We furnished the home with lots of love and care and escape there from the busy SF Bay Area to relax and recharge.
We loved this place in Truckee. We were there with my wife and two kids for a wedding over a long weekend and the house was just perfect. Very cozy, very well equipped, everything worked perfectly. The house is as described or even better. There were a lot of nice details, like a bunch of board games that my son loved, a cozy TV room, a nice fireplace. The location is also very good, close enough to downtown Truckee and some stores, but in a very quiet neighborhood in the woods.
What a gem! We absolutely loved our stay at the Truckee Treasure property, and I've caught myself daydreaming about the place everyday since our visit a couple of weeks ago. The space was perfect (much more than necessary, really) for our family of 4 (Mom, Dad, preschooler & infant). Upon arrival the house was clean, and obviously well maintained. The fireplace warmed the home and created a very comfortable atmosphere for the whole family. Our 4-month old daughter slept the best here out of all of our other lodging accommodations during our 10-night Oregon-California road trip. Diane (the owner) was responsive and friendly throughout the entire rental process from our initial inquiry to payment and refunding our deposit. She was also quick to respond and helpful when we had a question about the property on our first night. We will definitely be back!
Just back from a great Presidents Day Weekend family vacation. Not a lot of snow in Tahoe, but this cozy home made the stay worth the vacation. Upon arrival, I must say the outside doesn't do it justice, but once you walk in, it is immediately apparent that this cabin is well taken care of. The owner had even turned the heat on for us and left a very kind note. The kids (11, 13, 14) appreciated all of the games and movies and they really liked the fireplace and the piano. We had wonderful family meals at the table which is adjacent to the small, but practical kitchen. Really nice to have the upstairs "suite" where the husband and I could have our own bathroom and large space. I also like that it was just a two mile jaunt into the historic town of Truckee, 15 minutes to Squaw and 10 minutes to Northstar ski resorts. A great find.
The cabo was absolutely beautiful! As stated in the description, there is a huge front yard for kids to play in. The decorations and stove fireplace gave it the cozy cabin feel. I loved having a detached garage that keeps your car and sleds secure. The owner responded quickly to my emails and was very friendly. Overall, this is a great location to downtown Truckee and Ski resorts.
First let me say that we had a fantastic trip, and our 2 kids were extremely upset at us when we said it was time to go. They basically would happily have moved into this home permanently. The house was great for our family -- lots of games, videos, perks like "that one bathroom item you inevitably forget"... And for us, the piano was really important because our older child takes piano lessons, so we couldn't take that much time away from practice! I loved sitting in front of the fireplace to read, play Scrabble with the kids, or just relax listening to the piano. Having free wireless was convenient, and the home even has a printer set up (just plugged in the USB cord and it worked straight away!)
The location is great. Near Truckee town, but just far enough away that it's peaceful and quiet. I like to run, and there was a nice bike path and good streets for running (wouldn't have worked if there were much more snow, but it was fine for me).
The beds were really cozy. A teeny bit chilly since the fireplace is basically the only heat source. But if we left the doors open, that great heat did keep us toasty enough at night.
Lots of nice decor around the house... very "homey".
The house was spacious. There is a staircase, which was fine for us, but might have been an issue when our kids were younger.
The kitchen was easy to use with everything we needed, but there was a lot of ancient food around. Now, you can't really complain about free food, but most of what we found wasn't usable, so it was basically clutter.
The front yard is nice -- good for making a snowman. But, there were several doggie deposits to be found -- again, not a big deal, but I don't jump for joy when cleaning poop up. The backyard area has a deck. It was too cold for us to use, but looked real nice for warmer weather. The backyard area is fairly small, abutted in every direction by other homes.
We would be really happy to stay here again!
We spent 4 nights during the Christmas break and really enjoyed the stay.
The best feature of the house in winters is the huge yard. Our kids spent hours sledding & playing right outside the front door. The house is about 20 minutes drive from several ski resorts.
The owners responded to all emails / requests promptly and returned the deposit in a timely manner.
We'll definitely consider it as an option when we return next year.
