Nice location, Wonderful views of St Lucie River in a large home in need of some TLC
stayed from 1/29-4/1/2018
Positives; views from just about every room in back of house of river and boat traffic are wonderful. Views of wildlife (cranes, egrets, pelicans, seagulls and the occasional dolphin) from the lanai and dock are outstanding. Some nice antique furnishings but many pieces are just old and need to be replaced. Beds are comfortable except that the master bed squeaks. Stove is the original from 1961 a Frigidaire with two ovens that work very nicely. Unfortunately only 2 of the stove top burners still work. I like to cook and was able to make due with the two burners. Owners have provided and extra set of counter top burners that plug in but i was able to make due without using them. AC unit works very well and ceiling fans in living areas and bedrooms.
Negatives; Owners use the tenants to maintain the property rather than have someone inspect the home on a regular basis. I.E. I had to let one of the owners know; there was no automatic closer on the lanai screen door, no handles on burrow draws in the twin bedroom, sink facet in 1/2 bath was loose. They did come and fix the above but poor way to manage property. As many people don't mention everything that's a miss as follows; Hole in screen in lanai, area rugs in living room and master bedroom that are very old and stained, Curved section of sectional couch in living room that's missing a leg in the middle so it falls back when you touch it. Black mess on bottom of sectional couch that is fall apart onto floor that we kept cleaning up, cabinet doors in kitchen that don't stay closed, sliding door blinds in master bedroom that missing some of the blinds and a whole section of blinds missing going out to the lanai, front door that has no lock that works on the inside so it can not be locked so you have to keep the key in it to lock the door at night. Charcoal grill that's is so old the top grate is all rusted and corroded even though it's a Weber it's time to get a propane grill for the renters. Lastly the patio table that's inside the house for a sitting/ eating area with plastic taped over the hole is just ridiculous.
My husband and I spent a wonderful week at Cabana Point. The home had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Lovely screened porch to watch boats pass by. Centrally located for shopping and great restaurants. We will definitely return in the future. Many thanks to our hosts for sharing their home.
We enjoyed our Christmas 2017 with our family. We had his, hers and ours family Christmas and dinner. There was a lot of room to gather together and to get away for quiet time. The home was built in the same style and period of our childhood home and brought back warm memories.

We stayed for the weekend at this house and from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we were amazed by this beautiful lakefront house. This a place where you can rest and release your stress. I loved all the antique furniture this house offers, the sunset is phenomenal. Just sitting outside, enjoying the nature, makes you want to stay.
Thank you so much for your comments and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay! It makes us happy to share our little piece of paradise.
I was advised by the owner that this property was clean but "dated." The property was clean, but "outdated" was more the case and poorly maintained. The furniture and appliances were from the 40's or earlier. Light fixtures did not work, water faucets were faulty, blinds were falling apart. There is a reason there are no interior pictures of this property. Owner said we should have advised her of our issues at the time of our arrival and they would have been addressed; however, these items could not be addressed in the time we spent there (3 nights). Also, returning our money at the time of our arrival would not have helped since we were traveling with pets. It would have been extremely difficult to find someplace else at the last minute. Best advise - STAY AWAY!
This tenant, like the only other tenant who has written a poor review, did not contact me until over a week after check out when I received an email from her. She did not call me even though she had my phone number. She stated in her email that, "it is people like you who give Homeaway a bad name." I was shocked to receive her email as she had communicated with me via email several times while she was staying at the house and she never mentioned that she was dissatisfied with anything. When I received her email post check out I kindly asked her to clarify specifically what was wrong (which light bulbs, which blinds and specifically what was wrong with the faucets) so that we could fix any problems. She replied that she wanted her money back but did not give me any specifics about what was broken/not working. I called the tenants who were at the house at that time and asked them if they were having any problems with light bulbs, blinds or faucets and they said no. I am baffled by this review and by how angry this tenant came across in her email to me. If people are unhappy (and she is only the 2nd tenant in years of renting who was) with the house, we are more than willing to assist them with other arrangements and will return their money. In addition, my brother is local and can come to the house to address any concerns (i.e. light bulbs needing to be changed). I am very sorry this tenant was so unhappy.
We spent 3 glorious weeks at Cabana Point. If you are looking for a cookie cutter condo in a concrete jungle, this is not the place for you. Cabana Point is a unique, eclectic older style Florida home that hasn't changed much from the 50's. From it's original terrazzo floors to the Frigidaire Flair stove, Cabana Point is quirky and funky, however, the owners have provided enough modern amenities to make your stay comfortable (central air, extra stove burners, microwave, flat screen TV, laundry and WIFI). The star of the show, of course, is the view. Sitting directly on the South Fork of the St. Lucie River the boat traffic consisted of everything from standup paddleboards and rowing shells to mega yachts and everything in between. The bird watching was great and we saw fish and dolphins everyday. The house is minutes from downtown Stuart, located just off busy Kanner Highway. It was a 25 minute ride to Hutchinson Island and the beautiful Jensen Beach area. There are many excellent restaurants and shops in very close proximity, however, you may find it hard to tear yourself away from the porch on Cabana Point. The owners were very responsive to any questions. My calls were answered or returned promptly. Would rent again in a heartbeat!
Other Activities: Boating, waterway fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving
