Local Amenities

There is a superb large Super Valu supermarket located at the Fr Griffin Road end of The Crescent; a most useful petrol/gas station at the other end of The Crescent, and a delightful church and gourmet shop just at the end of Sea Road. At this point, you are already at the Restaurants & traditional Irish pubs quarters - you are almost spoiled for choice! Browsing & shopping in town is a lovely treat, plus wonderful day trips to Connemara & the Burren, and by evening time join the sociable world of Sea Road/William Street West and the two Dominick Streets, and then to Quay Street & the Latin Quarter - a mere stroll over Wolfe Tone Bridge.

Galway is busy and buzzing with its people, university population, many visitors, shops, cafes, festivals, sociable activities & events, and a wonderful artistic, theatre and music-making tradition. There are beautiful small strolls along the pretty town canals, many cool town churches to discover and pop into for a peaceful interlude, in particular to look over Galway's medieval history in the collegiate church of St Nicholas's where there are many medieval artefacts and inscriptions on the flagstones to decipher and absorb.

Galway is the origin of the beautiful Claddagh Ring, and there are a variety of competing stories on its design-origin to enjoy as you visit key jewellery stores around town.

And last but not least are fabulous walks, runs or cycles to Salthill & Blackrock, where there is 8 kilometres of promenades & shoreline walks to enjoy throughout the day - joining thousands of Galwegians also catching up on their daily constitutional, or a leisurely swim in Galway Bay on a warm summer's day!

All of this is just 5+ minutes from the Coach House on The Crescent, and these things are all yours to absorb and enjoy in this lovely, stylish small Residence, everything adding hope to a '10-star' experience for your time in Ireland. The Coach House is delightfully quiet and private - being the only residential unit on this private laneway. With private parking for guests located just across in our car park at the Main House.

And for a larger guest-party, we can also accommodate you across in the Main House:

About Cathy Morgan, Your Time in Ireland SR

Dear Guests, myself and my family returned to Ireland in recent years having lived overseas for many years. We enjoyed many worldwide trips & travels over those years, and experienced firsthand the pro’s & con’s of hotels versus short stay apartments. Hotels can be great, but! we realised, how much we better enjoyed ourselves when we felt thoroughly ‘At Home’ on these travels. Putting all of this into good practice in our beautiful Galway & Dublin short-rental options, we are extremely conscious of always offering this pleasure to the weary traveller – a seriously welcoming home-from-home environment - for 3 nights only or 3+ leisurely weeks! Working hard on the things that count – including fresh, luxurious bed linens & duvets and beds fully made up, fridge freshly stocked with Useful Food Items, and our useful local guides - you can so quickly settle in and get going with the many wonderful activities, explorations and small adventures awaiting you on a visit to Ireland, including lively engagement with everyone you meet on your tips and tours...

Cathy Morgan, Your Time in Ireland SR purchased this house in 2010

Why Cathy Morgan, Your Time in Ireland SR chose County Galway

Our deluxe short stay options are just 2 to 3 minutes away from the liveliest quarters of Town – and yet so peaceful and quiet for a great night’s sleep. The wider city is alive with visitors, restaurants, cafe-bars and many very unique & special traditional Irish pubs and live music - you will have made an excellent choice by staying with us on The Crescent.

Galway is a great town! - the capital city of Connacht is a bustling and superbly lively university city that sits at the end of Lough Corrib - Lake & River - as it wends its way to the Atlantic Ocean. Long a wonderful and busy merchant town with a serious maritime tradition and backdrop, Galway’s trading history can be seen in town canals, water breaks & salmon weirs, pier heads, and sea-side promenades and walkways, plus rich ancient woodlands that survive in precious pockets around the town. Our location on The Crescent is part of this older world of Galway going back to the early 1830’s - when trains ran to Clifden, and a tramline ran from Eyre Square via The Crescent and out to the seaside promenades of Salthill. Our apartments are located in an elegant tall period house there of some 180 years standing, and we do everything we can to maintain the ambience of this lovely old period house accompanied by many beautiful and contemporary features of today.

What makes this house unique

- Beautiful environment to settle into quickly, beds all freshly made up; fridge stocked and generous Welcome Basket of groceries.

- excellent local shops & supermarket just 2 mins away;

- excellent shopping in lively town centre just 5 minutes away;

- many interesting walks through town and surrounding places;

- abundance of excellent Restaurants from the end of Sea Road - just 2 mins away!

- fabulous walks to Salthill Village and along seaside promenades;

- Abundance of wonderful trips & tours to book into;

- suberb Golf courses a short drive away: Galway Golf Links 5 mins; Barna GC 10 mins; Galway Bay 20 mins; Athenry Parkland 30mins; Ballinahinch 1 hour, etc.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This place is a Wow! It's new & intriquing, with the architect-designed layout, colours & artwork are impressive. It's spacious and extremely well finished. For 6 of us, there was everything we could need - beautiful kitchen & all utensils, fresh bedroom linens - all superb quality, hi-speed wireless internet and satellite tv. Walking into town centre & taking the sea air at Salthill was delightful, and thrilling on a windy day. The Welcome Basket & fresh flowers from the owner's garden were so genuine and helpful. We would highly recommend this for a 5-star holiday stay in Galway. We felt so welcomed & settled in so quickly. Very cool and well worth the price.

Our Galway leg of our Great Ireland Adventure

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I decided to take our daughter, our two sons and two daughter in laws on a family trip. We went through many locations, but landed on Ireland. We were not disappointed! Ireland is even more beautiful than I realized and our time in Galway at the Coach house was spectacular! Liz greeted us and showed us all the features the Coach house has to offer. It was so much nicer than staying in hotels, we were able to gather around the table for meals and conversation at the beginning and end of our days. We loved the location, fabulous Quay! So much to see from the Spanish arches to the most photographed street in Galway, so close to everything. We ventured to the Connemara National Park, extremely beautiful, we went to Sligo and Donegal, the Burren, so much to do!! We even went to a sheep farm and watched the Border collies herd. This is a great location for all sorts of adventures. We would highly recommend the Coach house. The folks, Liz, especially was so gracious and helpful. One of us forgot our wallet, it was found and mailed to the states, above and beyond is what we have here. Thank you so much for enhancing our trip with the Irish charm! The Minnettes from Indiana, Oregon, and Colorado!

The Best Place to Stay in Galway!

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I stayed at Cathy's fantastic townhouse for 4 nights. The location is absolutely perfect...on a quiet beautifully charming street of townhomes but less than a 5 minute walk to all the best restaurants, shops, and lively nightlife of Galway. Cathy is a perfectly charming host. She met us promptly, welcomed us warmly with a gift basket and her cheery disposition and smile. The Coach House is two stories and fully equipped with dishwasher, washer/dryer, TV, WiFi, and fireplace. It's immaculately clean, with all amenities we needed and we felt comfortable and cozy. I highly recommend staying here and we will surely be back sooner rather than later!

Grand Galway Girls' Get-Away!

  • 5 of 5

I'd like to thank Cathy and Liz for a truly wonderful stay at the Coach House, all of the extra touches were appreciated. We traveled to Ireland for a girls' trip to celebrate a special birthday, and it was most memorable! Liz was very gracious in walking us through directions, parking, tips on the house and terrific recommendations for restaurants and night spots. We loved parking the car and walking to dinner, the pubs and Galway Bay to boot! Slainte!!

Beautiful Spacious Home in the Perfect Location!

  • 5 of 5

5 friends and I stayed in the Coach House the week of St. Patrick's Day in March 2015. We had traveled to Ireland from the USA for a friends wedding and needed a home base for the week- the Coach House was absolutely perfect. We were all surprised and very pleased with how beautiful and clean the home was with plenty of space for all of us and all of our stuff.

Liz was a wonderful host. She was sweet, friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to make sure we had everything we needed to make our holiday perfect. The welcome basket and bowl of fresh fruits upon arrival was a lovely touch and came in very handy since we had not had any time to shop.

The location was fantastic. Close, easy access to shops, stores, restaurants etc. We walked into town everyday and spent most of our nights out on the west side which was a 5 minute walk and some of the best nightlife in town.

I have traveled quite a bit and lived abroad on several occasions and have never had such a lovely experience. Everything about this booking was effortless - from house set up preference and payment to the key exchange - seamless.

This place is truly a gem in Galway. I will definitely stay here when I return.

Great Home-base for Galway Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We stayed eight days at the Coach House, and it was the perfect place for a visit to Galway and the surrounding area. With a full kitchen and plenty of beds and bathrooms, it felt like home. We cooked several meals in the well-equipped kitchen and were able to do laundry as well. We could easily walk to the city center and the nearby grocery, but also get away at the end of the day to a cozy neighborhood. Cathy was very attentive, as was everyone else we met in Ireland. We'd definitely stay at the Coach House again!

Great Realizations!

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed at this address on the Crescent many times now (in Silver Teal) but this was my first opportunity to stay at The Coach House. My Mother is elderly and would not have made her way successfully up the stairs. So, time to give Coach House a go. It was, simply, wonderful. As a former Travel Agent, Mother holds to a fairly high and honest standard; she does not mince words. What can I say, gentle readers? She loved it. Yes, all that was said prior regarding the narrow lane is true. Not a bad walk though, even for an octogenarian. But from the moment you enter the flat you can softly exhale all worries knowing you will be staying in a calm and comforting home. Not a sterile hotel room. You will have space to really relax. Buy some briquettes and have a fire in the wonderfully working hearth. We had local family over during some crummy weather for drinks before dinner. Inclement outside, cozy-warm in front of the fire with an adult beverage and delicious foods from Sheridan's. Like we lived in Galway! Put another way, you are staying in an understated, natural elegance. Wonderful touches. Small climb to the upstairs. Rooms beautifully appointed. Yes, some bathroom sharing may be inevitable; so what? The location is quiet. You will sleep well. Don't worry about a "view". You are not going to be looking out, but enjoying friends or family within. Lastly, all that has been said about Liz (who will greet you) is true. Fantastic hostess, excellent adventure-advice, superb welcome basket-and all done with incredible good spirit and energy. Wish, actually, that I was there right now. So, my Mother has said, does she. I am, however, always thinking of the next time...
