What makes this Cottage unique
The cottage is situated in a breathtakingly beautiful setting on a quiet, non-mechanized lake. Famous for its bass and trout fishing, Vaseaux Lake offers an ideal getaway for couples or families. With McIntyre Bluff to the south and Vaseaux Lake cliffs behind, there's phenomenal outdoor activities including hiking and mountain biking on the KVR trail at the eastern side of the lake, birdwatching at the preserve at the north end of the lake, and bighorn sheep in the cliffs behind. The lake is warm in the summer and ideal for swimming. In the winter it freezes over and is great for ice skating. We are close to the over 100 wineries, including Township 7 in nearby Naramata, where the staff are happy to have you visit for a complimentary tour and tasting.

A Dreamy Chalet
Golden Mile Chalet provided our family of four a dreamy vacation.
Located at Vaseux Lake front, with the mountains as the background, this tranquil place with a great garden and deck, brings breath taking peace and beauty to enjoy. We spent our Christmas holiday here, skiing at Baldy in the day and relaxing, playing and watching movies at the chalet in the evenings. The lake was frozen and when it snowed, it covered the whole lake white. Spotting a fox walking over the frozen lake is a memory we will never forget.
The Chalet is very sweet, well maintained and cozy. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Beds, beddings and towels are wonderful. The kitchen is equipped with everything we needed to make meals. We even made smoothies in the blender everyday and made waffles in the waffle maker for a breakfast surprise for the kids. Our children were delighted to have found a box of Legos and entertained themselves for hours.
The top window towards the lake frames a magnificent view to wake up to, if sleeping in the loft.
The care taker lives across the street and he is very accommodating. Andrew and Christie are very helpful. Everything is very well explained in a book and as notes around the chalet, very informative, but still when we had a few questions, the owners were available on the phone, even on Christmas eve!
We are very impressed by this beautiful sanctuary. We would love to come back in the summer and enjoy swimming in the lake and spending more time on the decks when it's warm and the garden in full bloom.
Deeply thankful to Christie and Andrew for their wonderful accommodation and hospitality.

Great place to stay
This is a great place to stay, and I can't recommend it highly enough. I was on my business trip(visiting wineris) / vacationing with family. Spotlessly clean, in a very quiet and peaceful location. The rooms we had were very comfortable and was very welcome indeed! We enojoyed bbqing, drinking sparkling wine from Blue mt( best in the category for sure!) , our dogs and my daugher really enjoyed themselves playing on the grass, watching wild birds (we even saw a golden eagle catching fish )We are planning to go to okanagan in september, if this place is available then, we definitely would love to stay here again! Thank you very much for a wonderful trip!
We are very glad you enjoyed your stay with us and we would love to have you back in September (there is one weekend still available and other days mid-week). I have not tried sparking wine from Blue Mountain yet but will have to put in on my list.
Fantastic, relaxing family vacation
My wife, 2 small children (6 and 3) and my parents shared the cottage for a wonderful week this year. I would highly recommend it for people looking for some quiet space of their own in a warm and sunny Okanagan setting.
Highlights of the cottage:
- Quiet, beautiful lake frontage: Vaseux lake doesn't allow motor boats, so it is very quiet and felt like you had the lake to yourself. The water is warm and we spent many hours floating on tubes and mattresses.
- Bass fishing from the private dock: 3 generations of my family were fishing off the dock, where a worm and bobber got my 3yr old innumerable bass throughout the week.
- Location: 20mins to Penticton, 25 to Osoyoos, fantastic vineyards all around.
The only drawbacks we found were:
- The second bedroom is only accessible by going outside first. This is OK if you want privacy between groups, but with kids it meant we had to have an adult stay in the bunk bed room with the kids.
- As others have mentioned, the stairs to the loft bed are VERY steep.
We are very glad you enjoyed your holiday and we would love to have you visit again.
A Family Reunion
This property is one of the most spectacular lake front lots that we have experienced. A perfect mix of sun and shade, shallow and deep water. Lovely decks and beautiful landscaping. It was perfect for young children (1 & 3) and the older set (80+). The outdoor area couldn't be beat!
The interior was nicely appointed. A new bathroom, nice linens, good beds, sufficient (but somewhat dated) kitchen utensils -- there were even some condiments for our use. (No dishwashing soap though).
Things to expect that make this property less than 5 star include:
1. The air conditioners (2 small window units) are ancient and do not even begin to cool the house. They need immediate replacement and an additional one needs to be installed in the kitchen/living area.
2. The BBQ is old and cooks hot dogs fine, but cooks far too unevenly to cook any higher quality meats.
3. It should be noted that the stairs to the loft are extremely steep and deep making them difficult to navigate for older folks. We had to forgo its use and use the fold-down couch in the living area which worked but wasn't optimal.
The location was perfect for visiting wineries and for access to fruit and groceries. If we could have accessed the loft, the space would have accommodated our group of 5 adults and 2 young children perfectly.
I am very glad that you enjoyed your family reunion and our cottage – great grandparents, grandparents, adult children and grandchildren – what a great family holiday! We appreciate your feedback.
Beautiful setting and comfortable home
We stayed at this property in the early part of September where we enjoyed perfect weather. The home was clean and ready for us when we arrived. We found the beds very comfortable with good quality linens, ample towels for use inside and out and a well equipped kitchen with lots of space. The deck was wonderful for meals overlooking the lake and we spent our days on the property's private beach and on the dock. We would totally recommend this place to others, and have! We will definitely be back next year!
We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay and we would love to have you again.
Not disappointed, but had to lower our expectations
The lake is spectacular and has a clean, gentle walk-in off the grass, completely suitable for toddlers and young kids. The property is overgrown and needs some landscaping. Watch you don't get whacked in the head when its dark. However, the plum tree was fully ripe in early August when we were there, and made for great picking. The chalet itself is cute. Watch - the loft stairs are not toddler friendly (too steep) but it, and the main floor bedroom, are air conditioned. The downstairs suite is not and the main living area is not, and it gets hot here in the summer. We enjoyed warm starry nights on the deck, watching shooting stars, drinking wine. It lived up to the reviews we read with two big exceptions: 1. Based on previous guest comments, we specifically asked the owner if the dock was repaired, and were told when we booked in the spring that it would be in time for our summer visit. It wasn't. The lake is too shallow to fish without a boat. A dock would have made that experience (on the 6th highest rated bass fishing lake in BC) a vacation to remember. 2. The chalet was dirty. We have a long history with VRBO rentals and never experienced anything like this. At $100 a night we could have wrapped our heads around spending the first day of vacation cleaning, but at $350 a night it was hugely disappointing. The description was accurate regarding the location. Photos accurately reflected the chalet's appearance and amenities. Would recommend to a friend but not at peak rates, with a caveat for needing a lower set of expectations regarding cleanliness. We went geo-caching in the area - highly recommended. Hester Creek Winery lets you bring your own picnic and and their wine shop is spectacular. And finally, the chalet is pet friendly and I have to say our Aussie Shepherd cross was in heaven. That was indeed a pleasure being able to vacation with her, and for that, we're grateful to the owner for allowing pets. Addendum: We emailed the owner post vacation and he apologized for the dock not being fixed, saying the roof needed priority attention. He also said he would look into the cleanliness and maintenance issues. A week later he messaged back and apologized again, saying he was on top of the cleanliness issues and assured that they have been dealt with for now and in the future. We will probably go back and take him up on his offer to make it up to us.
