About Patti Ther
Originally from Glen Ellyn, IL. Fell in love with the area in 1987. Built new in 2000, when I became a full time resident.
Patti Ther purchased this House in 1987
Why Patti Ther chose Lake Michigan Beach
The first time I experienced St. Joseph, MI. I knew I wanted to be here. Originally from Illinois, this was the perfect spot to chill out from the hustle and bustle of Chicago, and still is! Although I had been enjoying vacations here at Sweet Sara's since 1987, when the home was rebuilt in 2000 I moved up permanently. Hope you find in your visit what I discovered many years ago and still enjoy about Sweet Sara's and Lake Michigan. -- Patti
What makes this House unique
You will love the private beach here at Sweet Sara's -- everyone does. Take a swim, read a book, walk the "singing sands" for miles in each direction, it's all so good. We are located a short drive to St. Joe, South Haven, Saugatuck, Holland. The wine country here in Southwest Michigan offers lots of individual wineries and fun group tours. Golf courses are some of the best, with Harbor Shores (a Jack Nicklaus signature course) right down the road, which hosts the Senior PGA every other year . One cannot visit St. Joseph without experiencing the Silver Beach Carousel, the Whirlpool Splash Pad, the Curious Kids Museums. Many of my guests claim that South Haven has the best Farmer's Market, and Saugatuck offers a place to visit more unique shops that you can fit in a day!

Sweet Sara's is wonderful!
We really enjoyed our stay at Sweet Sara's. The house was very clean and beautifully decorated. The pictures online do not do this house justice. We felt very at home there and had all of the necessities we needed. The kitchen was well stocked, the living room as very cozy with tons of seating, the sunroom was perfect for some quiet time or reading a book and there were endless options for beds. Our young children loved the 2 small cozy bedrooms upstairs off of the larger bedrooms. They are decorated for kids to make them feel at home and attached to another larger bedroom to be close to parents. The outdoor seating areas were great - our favorite was the fire pit on the patio for making s'mores and the porch swing on the front porch. Patti was available for questions and it was nice to know she was nearby in case we needed anything. We will definitely be returning next year! This house is a gem! We were very sad when our stay was over.
We had 6 adults and 2 kids with plenty of space that included beach access as well as a short drive to St Joseph’s. Patti was communicative and helpful.
We had a great time at Sweet Sara's!
The house was fabulous and perfect for our group.
The beach was close by and even though the water was high we still enjoyed the sunsets and strolls.
Patti has parking passes, which the kids used often to go to the beach and everything we needed was supplied.
Patti is very good about helping with suggestions and if we needed anything.
Great place to stay in Coloma!
Beautiful family retreat w every detail!
Our multi generational family found Sweet Sarah’s to be the perfect setting for making memories. The home is clean, well organized and had everything we needed for a long weekend retreat! Compared to other VRBOs we’ve rented, Patti had really paid attention to detail with a kitchen where we could actually cook and bathrooms that had fresh linens! The yard was perfect for the toddler in our group. The beach is a 5-7 minute walk down a lane then 75 steps to a very small beach. Think of the beach as a sunset and wine- sipping spot, not a wakeboard location! Amenities in the area are about 10 minutes down the road at various parks and St. Joe’s. We loved our stay!
Thank you for your review. It was a pleasure having you as our guests. Sorry the beach shrunk this year. ☹ Hoping for a better beach once the deluge of rain stops!!! Congratulations to my guest who completed this weekend's Benton Harbor Ironman 70.3 Steelhead Triathlon! Quite a feat, young man!
The Immediate beach was very small due to high water. Had to drive to everything, that being said still pretty conveniently located. The house was big, well furnished, and clean. Very homey. Our 3 generation family all loved staying.
Great experience overall, nice house and great terrace and yard. One minor comment: water smelled a bit like sewer and when the jacuzzi was put on filth came out of the air nozzles. For the rest: great!
Ralph, in response to your comments... We are on well water here. Once in a great while, if the salt gets low in the softener, you may smell a little iron in the water, but never does it smell like sewer nor is sewer water in the well water. Had you told me, I could have taken care of it right away. Regarding the Jacuzzi, the "filth" that came out is due to someone using soaps/oils and turning on the jets. The soap/oils will sit in the jets after they are turned off and come out like soap scum next time it's used. Yuk, I know, but that's Jacuzzis. If that wasn't your group, then my deepest apologies. The cleaning products then weren't put thru the system to clean out the jets properly. Again, if you had told me, I would have taken care of it immediately. : )
We will make sure that doesn't happen in the future.
