Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Den, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Year round bird activity makes this home appropriately named “The Swallows.” Many call The Swallows “A little piece of heaven”, and it is!

The Swallows is located at the end of a quiet little street on the northwest end of Yachats. The house is just one block from seven miles of sandy beach to the north. To the south is the beginning of the historic 804 Trail which meanders along the coastline with breathtaking views of waves crashing on rocks and scenic sunsets. You can walk the trail all of the way into town which in total is about a half hour walk- one way. Stop off along the trail to the Adobe for a meal in their oceanfront restaurant.

You can see the ocean from the living room and dining room and on a nice day sit out on the deck with a cup of tea, soaking in the rays and listening to the sounds of the pounding ocean. The house is a very comfortable, bright , cheery, well stocked abode that is cozy in all seasons, with warm fluffy blankets and comfortable beds.

On a rainy day, enjoy a walk along the 804 Trail and then come home to snuggle in front of the cozy gas fireplace. Curl up with a book from the bookshelf, or enjoy a puzzle or game provided for your pleasure. If you’re a Duck or Beaver fan, you can even grab a game on the television.

We love dogs and gladly welcome yours, though we do ask that you pick up after them and keep them off the furniture and blankets. Dog towels are provided for you as well.

The beach at The Swallows is dog (and people) heaven – we hope that you enjoy!

About Nikki Hamilton

We fell in love with Yachats and the 804 Trail back in the early 1990's. This is where we always went for a change, rest and rejuvenation. We would always rent a house on the "fish streets" with our three children, as we loved the proximity of the beach and trail and so much peace and quiet. We felt like the people who had homes here were so lucky, and we held out hope that someday we could be as lucky too! We frequently rented "The Swallows" and by a twist of fate reached out to the owner at a time when she was looking to make a change, as were we....and, the rest is history.

Why Nikki Hamilton chose Coastal Oregon

We bought this property because of LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. It is the kind of get-away that most people would appreciate: comfortable, cozy, bright and fun. It is a very personal kind of place..a great little retreat to the coast.

What makes this house unique

We love the quiet and the sound of the surf in every room. We are yet to finish reading anything....the sound of the surf has us asleep in no time at all.... The house is cozy with a great view of the ocean and a gas fireplace that makes even the rainiest of days a pleasure. We like the easy and uncomplicated atmosphere and the proximity of Overleaf Lodge, Fireside and the Adobe for some special amenities.....It is nice to walk over to the Adobe for a meal and then, walk back (their chocolate cake is to die for!) Yachats and the area around have many things to offer in way of entertainment and nature excursions. Newport with its aquarium is not far and we love to eat pastries at the Green Salmon or go for dinner and listen to music at the Drift Inn.

Guestbook comments from the manager

.....we seem to have fallen in love with the Central Coast. The drive to Florence was absolutely breathtaking. The Swallows is perfectly situated between the beach and the rocks/ I can't imagine a more balanced coastline for walks, dogs and tide-pooling. ... Certainly hope to return.

Very cozy and comfortable little cottage a literal stone's throw from a beautiful beach.

  • 5 of 5

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Swallows. The accommodations were clean, comfy and the deck and dining room had a beautiful view of the shore. The cottage is less than a two minute walk to the Oregon Trail and the beach. During our week-long stay, there was never more than a handful of people on the beach making it perfect for long, relaxing walks.

The house was equipped with everything we needed to feel right at home – quality mattresses, up-to-date appliances and a fun, eclectic mix of decor. The house is located near the end of a dead end street and we never heard a peep from any neighbors. We live in a remote area of Montana and appreciate solitude and quiet.

If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing oasis, the Swallows is hard to beat.

Bright, spacious, comfy and well supplied!

  • 4 of 5

The house is very comfy and fully supplied. The location is great because you have the walking path to the beach or town and, a great place to walk the dogs with your morning coffee. We plan on renting the house again next year!

The Swallows is the best place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Yet again, we stayed at The Swallows house. Clean, airy, romantic, and equipped with everything one could need. Less expensive then a hotel, and you get your own yard, deck, kitchen, and other things. We cannot wait to come back and stay again.

Very Cozy place. Excellent location right by the Oregon Coast Trail.

  • 5 of 5

Very convenient location on Perch St. close to downtown. We were able walk one South and view the waves and climb along the rocks near the seashore. Walk north and there is a beach to walk along. The view of the Ocean from the house exceeded expectations. Received excellent support whenever we had questions.

Great quiet spot, close to the beach and the 804 trail

  • 4 of 5

The Swallows was a nice retreat space for a weekend away. It was seconds from the beach, and the 804 trail, which is a nice walk along the rocky shore to the main street of Yachats. We thoroughly enjoyed our time, and found the accommodations at the Swallows to meet our needs.

The Swallows, Yachats, OR

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for a week in August and we loved our stay. Being from Arizona, it was nice to come and cool off. It was an easy walk to the beach and the 804 trail, which we had a wonderful time exploring each day. We enjoyed relaxing at the house and we were excited to see whales, eagles and osprey from the patio. The neighborhood was very quiet and we were even visited by deer in the yard one morning. Unfortunately, we were disappointed that the fireplace did not work and it could not be repaired until after our stay. The house was clean and well stocked. I hope we can return in the future - LOVED the area.
