Hawaii was my dream; to live here in retirement and have my children come and visit. Then the grandchildren started to come, and Hawaii was just too far away for this Tutu (Hawaiian for grandmother) and so we moved back to the big Big Island. This is a family home, in a quiet neighborhood near the beach, able to accommodate up to 10 people for memorable family get togethers and occasions.
The lush, garden setting with pool is just magnificent. Tropical birds sing in the trees, plumeria fragrance the air, charming geckos climb the walls, and screens keep out critters we don't want inside. We so enjoy the tropics that we've adapted to them - so no air conditioning, just gentle fans cooling each room. And because it's the tropics, you may find mosquitoes in summer in some areas of the island (occasionally including ours).
Your house is great and your back yeard is a heavenly sanctuary that I will never forget. We had coffee out there every morning in what felt like paradise.

I stayed a week with my daughters and grandchildren. The house and tropical yard are wonderful. The pool is as big and beautiful as it looks in the picture. We spent a lot of time playing in the water and relaxing in the backyard and on the lanai. Lots of floaties are available so you need not buy them. There are even water wings that worked well for our 4 year old.
The house has plenty of room to spread out. We awakened each morning to the sounds of birds...what a nice way to wake up. Lots of geckos around, which we all enjoyed seeing.
Magic Sands Beach is a short walk away so you can spend time there during the day. We spent a morning there with the boogie boards (don't need to buy or rent those either). The sand is also fun for the little ones. We also walked down to view the sunset.
I am writing this review while sitting on the lanai with a cup of coffee early in the morning. And listening to and even seeing the birds in the trees. My morning ritual....
This was truly a great home away from home. We had 6 adults and 4 children three years and under and spent 10 days here. We had everything we needed to be really comfortable and so much space! It was so handy to have the use of beach towels, chairs, boogie boards and sand toys for the beach days and all the pool toys for the stay at home days. Loved the pool and the yard is SO beautiful, very private. We also had the use of a crib for the youngest in our group and it was greatly appreciated. We were cooking at the house most of the time and to have a well stocked kitchen was great as well as access to the BBQ! Everything you could think of was available. Loved the lanai where we spent our meal times together. The location was very convenient for access to shopping and the local beaches as well as the main highway to other day trips. Thank you so much for such a lovely place to stay, we enjoyed it immensely! Highly recommend it!
You can not find a better location on the island. Large home walking distance to the beach. Backyard is breathtaking. Fantastic landscaping and an amazing banana tree! House is large and family friendly.
This home is very large and spacious. The 7 adults in our party had ample room and the 4 bathrooms was definitely a bonus. The pool is fantastic and very well maintained. The house needs a little TLC but overall a good space. I was a bit disappointed that the bikes were not usable as they were rusty and both had flat tires.
This is a perfect home for anyone with a large group as it provides privacy for anyone who wants it yet has great areas to come together as a group.
Thank you for allowing us the use of the house -our time there was enjoyed by all.
We stayed here with 4 adults, a 10 month old baby, a 3 year old and a 7 year old. This place is huge. We didn't use one bedroom at all. It basically has two living rooms, one upstairs and one downstairs which is great for multi-family stays. We brought our nanny to help with our girls and her and her fiance had the basement area entirely to themselves and we stayed upstairs. I loved all the local decor throughout and nothing feels stuffy about this place in any way. If you're looking for shiny, new, spotless this isn't the house for you. If you're looking for a welcoming, kid-friendly house where memories get made and moms can relax, pick Tutus. She has a lot of (oldies but goodies) great kid items (2 wooden cribs/mattresses, baby bath insert, booster seat, high chair) that came in handy. We used our pack n play poolside and had the baby in a crib in the master bathroom's closet area. Bring your baby monitors so you can sit poolside while they nap. The backyard is fenced and a little slice of paradise (we didn't leave our first day to do anything). There's a double hammock, a huge gorgeous tile turtle pool with a shallow (4 ft) and deep end, tons of outdoor seating, rafts, pools toys, a outdoor pool bathroom, etc... THIS POOL IS PERFECT. The yard gets some shade and some sun which was great for this family of redheads. The front of the house had a deck that runs the length of the house with green leafy tree cover, it's fenced and covered and was where we ate every meal. The kitchen had everything we needed, the appliances are older and the pans aren't the newest but they did the trick. We grilled every night (there are two gas grills on the property, the front and back of the house) to keep the heat down and to make the most of the amazing seafood we had at our disposal. The beds are all comfortable. We put a bed against the sliding door in one room upstairs so our young girls couldn't open and there's a door you can shut to the steps downstairs which was handy with a crawler. The downstairs had a little kitchenette/beer fridge for easy pool access. Find a place called Keiki Ponds if you have young kids it's the perfect Kona beach for you and you can go right down the street to Kahaluu Beach Park and snorkel in the morning during low tide with young kids and they can stand, look down and see tropical fish everywhere!! Kona is truly paradise and this house like home there.
7 of us spent a wonderful one week here: 2 grandparents, adult son, and daughter/son-in-law/ two young children. The house was perfect. Room for everyone to spread out, and lovely dining room and lanai to eat all together. The kitchen was well stocked and everything we needed was there - beach chairs, towels etc. We went on excursions every day and saw most of the key sights - what an amazing, changing landscape!!! Two of our group even went zip-lining. And every evening the kids played in the pool, while we watched on the wonderful pool chairs and relaxed. The kids also played in the pool in the morning, giving us a chance to get ready for the day. Two great beaches within walking distance. Farmers' markets nearby, and grocery stores as well. Once you are in the house, you feel secluded from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas nearby.
The only downside - which has nothing to do with the house, but you should be aware - is that no matter where you go for the day, the last hour back seems to be bumper to bumper traffic. Particularly anywhere that puts you near Kona. However, if you factor that into your trip and take a deep breath, once you get "home" all is well.
We all highly recommend this rental. The owner is in California and is easy to deal with, and there is a local person for the house and another for the pool. We never needed either. Thanks!
