Stowe Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Vermont Cabin Rental: Rustic Luxury 1 BR + Loft Sleeps 5

Goldilocks cabin is a cozy retreat for a romantic getaway, and ideal for small families as well. The cabin is on 4 wooded acres, but just 1 mile from Stowe village, eight miles to Mt. Mansfield and skiing, and just a few miles to the Pinnacle, one of the most spectacular hikes in Vermont.

Goldilocks cabin is well appointed with Black Forest and French antiques, hand loomed rugs, and antler chandeliers--the perfect combination of rustic and luxury. The piping hot wood stove and the chiming cuckoo clock make this cabin a cozy retreat after a day of hiking or skiing. The large master bedroom has an antique four poster bed, complete with a sumptuous mattress, and a sitting alcove with a sleeper sofa. The sleeping loft (a favorite of older children) is accessed by a ladder and has a full size bed. There is a sleeper sofa in the living room as well. The cabin has two decks and a gas barbecue. Goldilocks is pet-friendly. Well behaved, approved pets are always welcome.

Guests often mention our attention to detail as one of the many reasons this cabin exceeded their expectations. Goldilocks cabin is just right.

Amenities: Wifi, well appointed kitchen with dishwasher, microwave oven, coffee maker and a gas stove. Dining area seats 6. Laundry room with washer and dryer. Wood stove. Television. CD player, VCR. Two decks, barbecue, and mud room for ski storage. Approved pets OK.

Activities: Minutes from skiing, miles of snow-shoeing, and cross country skiing, biking, hiking, fishing. Close to town and shopping. Six restaurants within a two mile drive. Great antiquing around Stowe, Farmer's market. Burlington is a 35 mile drive.

Area: One mile from Stowe village. On 4 acres. Close to shopping, restaurants, hiking, skiing.

About Jill

I am an interior designer living on Nantucket. I am married to a tug boat captain, and we very much enjoy the balance of having both the mountains and the ocean in our lives.

Jill purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Jill chose Stowe

Goldilocks was originally the ski cabin of the principal designer at the interior design firm where I was then employed. We had great fun decorating the cabin on buying trips to New York, and the Paris Flea Market, and at our favorite Vermont antique stores. The draperies were all custom designed for the space, and the rugs were all hand loomed at the Weaving Room on Nantucket Island. All the accessories hand-selected with care. The result is the perfect cozy retreat, down to the chiming cuckoo clock, and the crackling wood stove. I have so many great memories staying at Goldilocks, it has always held a special place in my heart. When my boss decided she needed a bigger space, I jumped at the opportunity to purchase the cabin, turnkey. We fell in love with Stowe, and with Goldilocks cabin.

Goldilocks got it right!

  • 4 of 5

Cute as a button and comfortable as you can get....very cozy. Best nap I've had in years. Great location for doing absolutely nothing! or, close enough to 3 different ski resorts to ski your life away!!

If you've never rented a property before you really should try this one. Great place, great owner, great...Go ahead. Take the 'plunge' and rent this one now before it is all booked up.

Charming cozy cabin perfect for our families ski trip

  • 5 of 5

The most perfect home away from home for a ski vacation.. Easily located 3 minutes from Stowe Center and 15 minutes from the mountain..Enter a large mudroom/laundryroom with ample space for all families ski gear...Then step into the coziest, most beautifully decorated cabin ever!! Living room has a large couch ( and it's a full sized pull out) and chairs to relax in.. The kitchen was wonderfully stocked with dishes pots pans and utensils to heat up and/or prepare all your meals...The kids loved using the ladder to reach the bed in the loft.. Separate Master bedroom beautifully decorated with the most comfortable full sized bed and full sized pull out couch..large closet and plenty of dressers in bedroom and bathroom to be able to unpack everything and settle right in .. The owner Jill is in contact before during and after your stay and is so helpful.. There is a local caretaker AJ who can be easily contacted as well..This family will definitely return!

Great stay in the cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a terrific time in the cabin. Owner was very responsive by email before, during and after stay. Cabin was clean, well-maintained and well-stocked. We had a great stay and would highly recommend it to friends or family wanting to explore Vermont with a dog and/or family.

Cozy cozy cozy!

  • 5 of 5

This is my second stay at this wonderful property in beautiful Stowe. And I can promise you that I will visit again and again and again. Jill has thought of every single thing from the cozy decor, the fully stocked kitchen to the pot belly stove fully set for a fire to snuggle by. She truly has thought of everything even setting out a culinary welcome basket. Some of the best nights sleep I have had in a long time. Not a sound to be heard except for the twinkling of the stars. 5 stars for sure.

Stowe has wonderful hiking trails, both easy and challenging. There are miles and miles on bike paths for biking and Rollerblading. In the summer there are open air concerts, golfing, fly fishing, hot air balloon rides. There are many beautiful lakes nearby for hiking, canoeing or fishing. Stowe is known for its great restaurants, many to choose from just minutes away. There are two spas in Stowe, the Stowe Flake, and Top Notch—both wonderful. There's lots of antiquing in the surrounding areas--and prices in Vermont are quite reasonable. For a day trip choose from Burlington, Montpelier or Montreal.

Stowe is known as the Aspen of the North, and the mountain is recently been improved with new runs, lifts, and world class shopping. There are hundreds of miles of trails for cross country skiing or snow shoeing, and of course ice skating as well.
