Beautiful Lakeview sunsets, hot tub, large deck, mountain gardens

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,000 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-5)

Romantic, knotty pine cabin with panoramic view of the lake in the historic Tahoe neighborhood of Brockway. Ancient granite boulders and stately incense cedars frame the view from the hot tub on our large deck, equipped with barbecue and picnic table. In winter, gaze at snow falling on the lake while enjoying a home-cooked meal in front of the mellow brick fireplace or sipping a glass of wine in the deck hot tub. New flatscreen Direct TV, HD, with 240 channels and all sports events. In summer, grill out and watch the boats on the lake or the chipmunks scurrying around the boulders, or just savor the beautiful sunsets.

The cabin was built in 1940's and features lovingly crafted knotty pine paneling and very cozy old brick fireplace (owners were the Bruener Furniture family)but of course we have updated, adding new windows, appliances, etc., while still trying to preserve the family-friendly amenities and craftmanship of that earlier era.

The close view of Lake Tahoe and the quiet thrill of seeing the lake over a panorama of incredible glacier-age boulders and beautiful conifers that were seedlings when our great- grandparents were born is an experience that many of us who live here will never take for granted and love to share with guests to the cabin

North Shore ski resorts are 12 to 30 minutes away and the lake is a two-minute walk down the hill. Kings Beach is a 5-min. drive away.

About janet steinmann

I'm a retired high school English teacher and my husband Jim is a still working and traveling consultant. We bought this cabin plus another permanent rental as a vacation home and moved into it full time in 1991. Then we added a larger house and garage/greenhouse/workshop to the 1 acre, lakeview property. Realizing that we seldom used the cabin except for guests, we closed it off and made it private, then began renting it as a vacation place.

Why janet steinmann chose Lake Tahoe North Shore

North Shore Lake Tahoe is beautiful no matter what the season. We enjoyed the granite boulders, pines, and especially the lakeview in this small Brockway neighborhood. We are close to skiing and can walk to the beach, as seen in our picture.

What makes this cabin unique

Life on the deck overlooking the lake is lovely with the hot tub and sunsets in winter, sunny days and barbecuing in summer. Inside, it's fun to sit in front of the fireplace, watch Direct TV, or whip up a meal.

Great place for kids!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and one year old daughter stayed here for a weeks long family vacation. The owner, Jan, was extremely nice and accommodating. This cabin has the best beach for kids right down the street. It is just a short 400m walk. My husband and I lugged our 20 something pound daughter and all of our beach stuff down to Speedboat Beach almost every day we were there. It was no problem at all. This in itself is worth the modest price of this cabin. This beach was so clear and calm; perfect for any age children!

The cabin is old and rustic but clean and charming. It has everything we could expect from a private rental. Our daughter slept great in the cabin which is always a worry when we travel.

We did experience a bit of allergies. I'm not sure if it was all the pollen in the air or the few wool items in the house but nothing Claritin couldn't solve.

Also, their is no AC but Jan will gladly accommodate with fans. We, however, found that it cooled off at night enough (even on 90 degree days) to simply sleep with the windows open.

The only thing that may have been nice is a washer. Their is a dryer to help dry towels and such but with a baby we tend to do a load (or two!) when on vacation.

We cooked several meals at this place... All on the BBQ. We also used the hot tub while soaking in the gorgeous view of the lake!

Overall, this was a fantastic rental and I recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the Kings Beach, Tahoe area.

Charming, Romantic, Stunning Views

  • 5 of 5

This place is a gem. Very old-fashion and rustic feeling. Not on the glamorous side, more heart-warming and super relaxing. The views from the hot tub are stunning and we loved making fires in the brick fireplace every night. Also very close to the city for shopping, and small hike to beach is beautiful. Will recommend to friends and couples.

Just a ho-hum rental near a beautiful lake!

  • 3 of 5

First of all I don't know how fast the owners walked, but two minutes for a healty individual to walk to the beach if very far fetch. Its not even possible to drive there in two minutes. However, it is walkable. Just don't be misled as I was. There is also NO air condition. Not that there was claim to be. Just so much to look over. I missed that there was not one mentioned. We were there in August and coming from NO, LA found that it was needed. We opened the windows which helped. There were fans available with using them sleep was possible. AC would be nice in august.

Owner's Response: Yes, there is a small public beach two-5 min walk from cabin. Renter must have just considered Kings Beach which is more "beachy" but a definitely a short drive from the cabin. We would never walk to it, no sidewalks. We don't use air conditioning in our Tahoe home or in the cabin. Fans work fine for the few hot nights in our very cool, fresh air summers. Renter should stay at an air-conditioned hotel with its own beach next visit to Tahoe.

Fantastic Place to Relax

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this cabin over Christmas and found it to be perfect for our needs! It was very well appointed and had everything we needed. The decor isn't modern, but it is in keeping with the area and the era of the cabin. Everything is extremely clean and well maintained.

The sunsets are just fantastic looking out the lounge room or from the deck. I'm not sure what is better to look at - the sunset or the fireplace!!!
