This villa is a piece of art; absolutely beautiful. I am running the best specials of the year; stays starting Aug 10, 2016.. take advantage now! We have time all the way into Dec 2016.
Created as a testament to an enduring love affair, The Buccaneer artfully melds Moorish Spain, Morocco, Crete, South Africa, Taos - and Jamaica - into one romantic, serene, spectacular, fantasy, beach villa, designed by Sally Henzell.
The setting is dramatic: on the hillside, above the fishers' beach in quiet Billy's Bay with 3/4s of a mile of untrammeled beach also reachable by gated pathways. Sweeping staircases, inside and out. Inspiring views. And always, the sound of the waves... Gaze out to sea from the oceanfront pool, terraces, and deep shaded portico. Up on the roof a spacious 'sun and moon lounge' invites sunbathing, dining, sunset and stargazing, or just curling up with a good book.
Opening onto the Oceanside terrace: a huge living room with scrolling hand-wrought ironwork doors, deep color-saturated walls that are inlaid with glass, plus comfy, inviting oversize furniture designed specifically for the house. Full music - VCR - TV systems, Phone.
Four artful, air conditioned bedrooms and four tiled bathrooms.
The kitchen is fitted out with all modern conveniences.

"This was one of the most relaxing vacations I have ever had.Suzie and the gang really know how to take care of their visitors. I cried the first time I left the Buccaneer so I have made sure to return every few years.. it is like coming home!"
"There are just no words to describe what a glorious, transforming trip this was for me and my wife. We were able to connect in a way that was not possible back home. I will not wait so long in going away with her again. I am still trying to figure out if it was the villa, the area, food, people.. there was just something so special about being there that allowed all those tired worn out feelings to disappear and all was new again! I cannot wait to return."
'I do not have words that are worthy of delineating the priceless time we had at The Buccaneer. To be enveloped by the never-ending vistas of the glorious sea and the heavens, the soothing waters and sea breeze, sweet Suzie's scrumptious food (a labor of love) is to be blessed and healed. My favorite moments were those spent in solitary strolls on the deserted beach as well as my meditation and yoga at sunrise and sunset, on the roof. I have been fortunate to have traveled to some of the world's most spectacular places - but there was something so incredibly magical about our experience at The Buccaneer.' - May 2003 guests from New York City

We purchased land in 1997 and then were blessed to have Sally of Jake's build the villa for us. I have been running it now by myself for the past 16 years. My kids are now 21 and 22 and have had the experience of Jamaican living since before they can remember!
I live in Alexandria VA and work part time at an animal hospital.. it is great fun! Give me a call :-) 703 765 7566

Absolutely loved our stay at the Buccaneer Villa. Mary is wonderful and she made me feel so relaxed and at ease. We stayed with our 3 children, ages 8, 6 and almost 4 and they had a great time and so did we! The view from the Villa is spectacular. We spent a couple nights on the veranda upstairs star gazing. The property is great for exploring. We even saw a mongoose! The kids loved the pool and so did we for a quick dip in the afternoon as it was so refreshing. The beach is great for beach combing (we found many different interesting shells that we are proudly displaying on our mantle.) We rented a car for our trip and went on a few different day trips. One of our favorites was going on a boat out to Pelican Bar and on Black River. This was such a neat "once in a lifetime" experience, which Suzie arranged for us. We had a blast. Suzie recommended going to YS Falls one day and we are so glad we did as that was such a wonderful memorable day. I cannot say enough positive things about the Villa itself, but do have to mention that Suzie, Jamie, and Nikki are the real gems. We just adore them and hope to come back and visit again.
This is the right choice. Call or email Mary now and get started before someone else takes your spot. You will not be disappointed.
The house, full of beautiful design details and one-of-a-kind artwork, sits on oceanfront property in between two gorgeous beaches. It is well equipped, secure, and naturally cooled by the ocean breeze. The bedrooms are equipped with air conditioners, but I didn't once use them. The master bedroom, on the second floor, opens to a large rooftop porch perfect for stargazing - the sky was so clear and the night was so dark, I almost couldn't make out Orion for all the stars visible in between his arms and legs. The pool is a relaxing alternative to the ocean water.
Treasure Beach boasts "community tourism." You can walk the streets safely and without hassle though I encourage you to meet everyone you can. For example, my toddler son got an impromptu look at the day's catch from a fisherman who was passing by as we wandered. He absolutely would have left us to our own devices, but a quick hello got us a great memory. A few folks will make their way to the house to show off some souvenirs for sale, but never once did we feel pressured to buy anything. One of the servers at a bar we went to refused to sell me a bottle of rum to take home because it was so much cheaper at a store down the road. Everyone pitches in to make guests feel like family. If you let yourself, you will feel like a member of a small town community more so than a tourist.
Mary, Suzie, Jaime, Nikki, and everyone they put us in touch with are honest, trustworthy, and delightful to deal with. They are truly a special group of people. Give them your complete confidence and you will not be disappointed. Also, let Suzie do the cooking. She expertly prepared jerk chicken, escovitch, and curried goat among other things, and each meal surpassed the last as my favorite.
You will not regret it - visit the Buccaneer!
A gem on treasure beach! We planned for a family reunion in Jamaica with our 4 grown-ups and friends and Buccaneer villa turned out to be the perfect place for us nine. Mary was on the first place very accommodating with our stay as we did not know how things would turn out with our invitation in Jamaica, it turned out that everybody made it, with different expectations, and once there Suzie was absolutely perfect for whatever need for some outdoors, great cooking or privacy when needed. The people in this area of Jamaica are also very friendly and you feel so relax walking in the near.
There is a lot to do around so we could keep active during the day and the place is great for some barbecue in the evening while enjoying the pool. The veranda on the top is also such a cool place for a drink and a gathering at sunset.
We have toured the caribbean islands for more than 10 years now, always going for a villa rental at some point each year, and this is one of the coolest place you can find. A pleasure at treasure beach!
We were a family group of 10 plus an infant and we had a lovely time at the Buccaneer Villa. We wanted a week with no distractions so we could just "be" with each other. Mission accomplished! Suzie prepared great food and is a delightful person. The other staff members were equally kind and helpful. We enjoyed the both the upper and lower terraces and the pool was a big hit with the kids (and us too)! We rented bicycles for the last two days and wished we rented them for the whole week. There is a lot to see from the seat of a bike, and it made it so much easier to get down to the little town of Treasure Beach.
This was our first trip to Jamaica for a romantic getaway after 21 years together. Just the two of us in a 4-bdrm house sounds crazy, but it was well worth it! The veranda, all rooms and pool had amazing views. We are extremely easygoing & somewhat private so interaction with Suzie(cook) and staff was wonderful and enjoyed her meals and conversations. Mary was a joy to work with planning the trip and eased our minds! We have stayed in plenty of private homes and we by far felt the most comfortable here. Absolutely beautiful! The rooftop is something we have never seen and spent every night with a cocktail watching the sunset, lights and listening to waves. As much as I don't want to I would be amiss if I did not point out a few things that I believe "5-star" travelers would have a problem with.....stray cats (we adored them because we missed ours and even named the resident one who enjoyed a lot of time with us- Pita!); stairs to beach may be difficult for elderly; beach in front has sharp rocks; ride to/from airport is long, grueling and I must say a little scary (but to be expected for a small island).
I miss the constant sound of the waves and did not miss TV ONE BIT! If you want to relax and enjoy the amazing beauty this is the place for you.
Mary, I love your information and charm! You were a joy to plan with. Might sound like a strange suggestion, but a few little (maybe plastic) side tables on the veranda, pool and rooftop would have been great. We were good at improvising! Just a suggestion.
Can't go wrong with renting this villa!!!!! Pictures don't do it justice.
8 adults - 1 week - the entire property to ourselves, couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable and relaxing vacation. The staff was amazing and the food was sooooo tasty! The house was so uniquely designed and the views were beautiful. The master bedroom on the top floor was a dream, I was lucky enough to have stayed in it while the others had rooms on the main floor. The small village had great beaches and an assortment of restaurants to choose from.
We all would highly recommend this rental - the owner Mary and the staff at the villa were easy to work with and some of the friendliest people we've met in a long time.
The only unfortunate issue we had was the exchange rate of Canadian dollar to US dollar. But it was worth every under valued canadian penny we spent!
Book at The Buccaneer - you won't be disappointed.
