Great place to stay, awesome location and outdoor space

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the studio for 3 months in the beginning of 2016 and to my pleasure then we agreed to prolongate my stay for another year. Here is my opinion on the place.

1. Location is excellent.

University Avenue is one block away. Center of University Avenue (e.g. Cafe Venetia) is within 15 min walking distance. Hwy 101 is a few minutes by car. So you are in the heart of Silicon Valley. And at the same time, it feels like you are miles away from any town. The house is next to a creek, so you don't see the opposite side of the road. The area is extremely green and quiet.

2. Outdoor space is far better than in other places.

Before moving here, I checked a few other places in Palo Alto, and none of them had such a great outdoor space. Basically you have a big dedicated palm tree, and small table under it with two chairs. It's part of the landlords' garden, but it's the space you can use (and I happily do that). In other places I was offered a small patio space with high wood fence, which doesn't give you much.

3. The studio is small but convenient. There is a normal-size bed, enough furniture space for one person, a bathroom and a very small kitchen with a kitchen table. There are heaters inside, so no problems with cold. The studio design is pretty, there are even beautiful pictures on the walls painted by Nancy, the landlady.

4. The landlords, Nancy and Robert, are very friendly and very pleasant to communicate with. They even regularly give me some fruit from the garden, which I happily eat. There were no problems with signing the contract, and I was also given a discount off the short-term price, because we signed a long-term contract.

5. A few things that should be mentioned, though they are not a problem for me.

a) There is no stove, only a microwave and a single hot plate. So it is not easy if you plan to cook dinner regularly. I usually only cook breakfast (and sometimes dinner), so it doesn't bother me much.

b) Wi-fi is unstable. Very often it does not work, so I have to use cellular connection. I try to restrict Internet usage at home, so this works as a natural restriction. If you plan to use Wi-fi, you might want to ask the landlords to improve it.

c) It takes a couple of minutes for the water to be heated. It's surprising if you lived in a big city before, but I got used to it very quickly. The feeling of living in quiet nature is totally worth it.

Overall, it's the best place in Palo Alto for this money, I believe. 5+ stars.

A great place to stay! My first choice for the next stay in Palo Alto!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the Studio during a 3 month project in Silicon Valley.

The studio is in a very nice backyard in a quiet, safe and well-kept nighborhood - conviniently located to the downtown area/University Ave (a few minutes walking distance) and to the Hwy 101 (a few minutes by car). An own entrance guarantees privacy and parking is possible directly in front of the house.

The studio and the furniture is in a great condition as shown on the pictures.

The furniture includes all necessaries (microwave, fridge, hot plates, dishes, bedding, WiFi).

Everything is very clean and in mint condition. The studio provides enough room and storage space for one person or temporarily for two persons.

The landslords were very friendly, helpful and took care of everything immediately.

I really enjoyed my stay there and this studio will be my first choice for the next stay in Palo Alto.

Charming place; great value for money

  • 5 of 5

This is a charming and quiet place for one person or two people, who are visiting or who are in need of temp housing. Nancy, the landlady, is always friendly, responsive and very helpful.

True, it's not a big place; however, the studio had enough space to store my belongings. The interior is bright and open with a shiny hardwood floor (the pictures capture this adequately). The bathroom is super clean and the kitchenette sports a small fridge with freezer compartment, a microwave and two hot plates, allowing me to prepare my own breakfast or a simple dinner. The studio even has a small patio; it was nice to sit outside, watching the squirrels while enjoying a glass of wine.

Best of all is the location: it's an easy walk to downtown Palo Alto (better even, bring a bike), and you're only a few minutes away from Highway 101, which takes you directly to San Francisco (it's a 30-40 minutes drive).

I'll recommend the studio to friends, who are looking for a charming place to stay in the heart of the Bay Area.
