Overview

About the property

4 Bedrooms + Den, 4.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

This property is best described as a home of unending poetic details.

Originally utilized as the carriage house for the neighboring 1881 mansion, this home is upscale, luxurious and sharply designed. It is located on a hilltop adjacent to the center of historic Lenox.

The property offers spectacular opportunities for spending time with friends and family. A spacious, fully-equipped kitchen serves as the backdrop for entertaining and relaxing. Just outside, the large back porch offers open and unobstructed views of the Berkshires and is perfect for sipping cocktails. Down the hilltop, meandering stone and grass pathways lead to "The Secret Garden" -- a place of refuge, solace and contemplation.

The home serves as the owner's personal retreat and vacation home. It has been totally remodeled and professionally decorated -- mixing historical features with modern amenities and conveniences. The Secret Garden was carved out of the hillside over a period of several years and is a result of the owner's personal and ongoing labor of love.

Adjacent to the home are two of the famed 'Berkshire Cottages' (actually exquisite mansions), miles of development restricted woods extending from the back porch and lawn – creating an oasis of green space in the center of the town of Lenox. The historic Ventfort Hall is across the street, and shops, restaurants, galleries, coffee shops and Shakespeare and Company are all within just a 2 minute walk.

The home has 4 bedrooms, each with its own private bath. 1 king, 2 queens and 1 full bed. Three of the bedrooms have flat screen TVs with satellite and cable and high speed wireless internet throughout. A large, bright, modern fully equipped kitchen with stone countertops, an island and GE Monogram stainless steel appliances. The dining area has a magnificent custom dining room table of Madagascar ebony that can extend to seat up to 12. An outdoor propane grill is included. AC and heat with 6 separate zones. Approximately 3000 sq ft. The lawn is manicured with beautiful professional landscaping and flowers.

Pets Allowed: The home has a doggie door that opens to a very large fenced in yard. The owner will allow 1 or 2 well behaved and house-trained small or medium sized dogs. No puppies. No cats.

Why Sebastian's Legacy, LLC chose Lenox

The Berkshires have so much to see and do, and Lenox is the heart, which is why so many of the 19th century industrialists built their summer 'cottages' here. With Tanglewood, Shakespeare and Co, Jacob's Pillow, museums, shops, galleries, Canyon Ranch, countryside for hiking, biking, skiing, water-sports, it's an amazing place to enjoy life. In the fall, the area comes alive with all the brilliant foliage colors, arts, crafts, and harvest festivals. Take a scenic drive in the country or hike, bike or golf. Fine dining at area establishments featuring the seasons delights.

A beautiful home in a beautiful setting.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our 5 days in this lovely home which sits in well tended gardens with outstanding views. It is just a short walk into the center of historic Lenox. The house itself was perfect for our purposes, family birthdays and a gathering of friends prior to a wedding. It is beautifully furnished, with a well stocked kitchen. The house is both spacious and bright with large, comfortable bedrooms, in particular the very attractive master bedroom suite.

Dealing with the host was easy - and she responded promptly to our query about one minor issue.

We look forward to returning next year and would definitely recommend this home to friends.

A gem of a house

  • 5 of 5

This house is a gem! The photos don’t do it justice. All the reviews which rave about this house are true. We were a family of three generations with two toddlers. The layout was perfect. The main floor has a great room that includes an open kitchen with living and dining areas. Two large glass doors open onto a wonderful wrap around porch with beautiful views of an expansive lawn and exquisite gardens. Although the house is just a short walk to the shops and restaurants in Lenox, sitting on the porch gives the impression of being in the midst of the Berkshire countryside. The kitchen was fully equipped and we found plenty of paper supplies. For families with children, there are delightful children’s books and even some toys. Amy was a pleasure to deal with and was always very communicative. Can’t wait to stay here again.

Another World in Lenox, Massachusetts!

  • 5 of 5

Oh my goodness, it was like stepping into another world! This magnificent home is one of the best rentals we've ever experienced. Beautifully furnished and decorated with a unique eye in all details. Our guests could not believe their good fortune at being invited and Amy was a joy to work with. We will return!

Lovely vacation home, highly recommend!

  • 5 of 5

This was a great house, and I'd highly recommend it! Beautiful, spacious, well-appointed, luxurious. Amazing, huge back porch with a gorgeous view. Beautiful "secret garden" at the back of the landscaped lawn. Easily accommodated our group of three couples and two young kids. Located right in downtown Lenox, so easy walking distance to great shops and restaurants, and 5-minute drive from Tanglewood, the Lenox Town Beach, and many other attractions. Amy was very easy to deal with and incredibly responsive. One note is that there weren't a ton of basic amenities, so we ended up having to go to the store for stuff like toilet paper, bath soap, shampoo, and dishwasher detergent. I know that varies among rental houses so figured I'd mention it here in case helpful to future renters. Other than that it was basically perfect, and I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

Perfect House for Friends or Family

  • 5 of 5

Wanted to find a home to share with 3 friends, we each had our own bedroom and bath and lots of room to visit. The home is beautiful, landscaping amazing and the views from the living area and master bedroom are amazing. The home is very comfortable with a large kitchen, not that you need to cook there are many excellent restaurants within easy walking distance as is a grocery store. Shakespeare and Co is a 5 minute walk and Tanglewood really close, so easy to get anywhere in the area from here. Amy was very responsive and easy to deal with. Hope to return!!
