Sink into a large, sectional sofa after a day of swimming, hiking, boating or sightseeing in this new home. Nestled in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, this cottage is loaded with amenities including WIFI, a big-screen T.V, wrap-around deck with hot tub, iPod compatible stereo system, ceiling fans with remotes and air conditioning. The hot tub comes with the property and we ask renters to put in bromine daily. We are a pet-friendly house, but ask for pets not to be on our furniture. In lieu of an extra pet deposit, we ask for dog owners to be sure to vacuum after their pets:)
This cottage is within walking distance to Acadia National Park hiking trails and the ocean, and it is close to the nearby town of Southwest Harbor where plenty of restaurants and shopping are available. Stars light up the night sky, with the cool breeze that coaxes you to a sound sleep. It is truly a memorable vacation destination!

My husband Dave and I have been coming to Mount Desert Island for years. I grew up coming to Maine as well in the summers and never tire of this wonderful location. We have three children and a dog, and plan to retire here when they are all through college!
Jennifer Higgins purchased this cottage in 2008
This home is built for comfort and has mostly one floor living. Mount Desert Island is a wonderful place to spend time in the summer and the climate and surroundings make you feel healthy and rejuvenated. It has a variety of amenities including hot tub, pool table and ping pong. A huge wrap around deck, ceiling fans with remotes and wall-to-wall carpeting in the bedrooms make it very comfortable.
In Southwest Harbor there is something for everyone! Young children enjoy exploring the rocky coastlines and hiking and swimming in our nearby lakes, adventurers enjoy hiking, boating and biking on amazing carriage trails, and older visitors like to drive throughout the park, golf and visit gardens and exhibits.
This was our first time traveling to Maine, and we are so glad we chose this home for our vacation. The house is located in a quiet location, which is semi wooded. The house was very clean and well stocked with everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. The location is perfect for exploring Acadia National Park as well as the other Towns in the area, and is close to many restaurants. We spent most of our time exploring Acadia National Park and did a lot of hiking daily. It was nice to come back to the house and relax in the hot tub on the back deck. The house has a gas fireplace in the living room and we used it nightly, it was nice to relax on the couch watching TV and the fire. The owner is great to deal with, she always promptly answered any questions I had prior to our arrival. We will definitely be renting this house again when we come back to Maine. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone visiting the area.
We arrived on a cold, rainy day:with 2kids, 2 teenagers, parents and grandparents. All of us loved this house ,(with garage, fireplace, hot tub plus bank beds for the kids), from the check in to the last minute. On the first evening the owner promptly answered our call with help how to start the fire place. The house is great for hot or cold weather, clean, beautiful and well maintained. Excellent location for even just hanging out and/or exploring by foot or on bicycles the beautiful surroundings and close by hiking trails. To all of the previous reviews I would say now, Yes and Amen. I would recommended this rental to my friends and family. Danuta from Las Cruces, NM
We had an excellent vacation! This house is in a quiet location with everything you need. Just a short drive to Acadia Park and Bar Harbor. There is plenty of room in this house for kids and adults to coexist. Our teenagers loved having the space in the basement level to play pool and watch TV. The hot tub was a plus after a long day of activities. The owners were very accommodating and great to work with.
I would highly recommend this house for your next vacation.
This home was the best! It really was everything we could want in a vacation home. The teens were having a fit about not going to the beach as usual, so they were a hard sell - but even they said this was one of the best vacations ever. Jennifer was extremely receptive to our questions (even the dumb ones). The house was located in a great spot close to Southwest Harbor. A main grocery store was at the bottom of the hill, and the town was minutes away by car. We were so glad we didn't stay in Bar Harbor - it is a lovely place, and we went there twice, but the crowds - forget it.... Southwest Harbor was quaint and had everything we needed. Good restaurants, ice cream, bike rentals and fairly close to all the places we wanted to visit on the Island. We were two families - we stuck the teens up in the bunk bedroom (top of A-frame). It wasn't until the 3rd day we realized there was a pool table in the basement! The porch which runs the length of the house was just gorgeous, looking out over the woods. There were a few homes up on our road, but you couldn't see them through the forest. The stars were amazing, especially from the hot tub. We were there the 2nd week of July and the weather was great - never had to use the AC, always a breeze... We called the house "our green cabin", but it was far from a cabin! I have done many vacation rentals over the years, and it was so refreshing to stay in a home that was really someone's vacation home - not an investment property with zero personal touches. Fun stuff we did on MDI: rented bikes and road around the ponds, having lunch at Jordan House (we timed the ride with help from bike store in SW Harbor and made reservations outside) - beautiful! We enjoyed sunset atop Cadillac Mt., after enjoying a lobster meal at one of the roadside lobster pounds (near north entrance to park). We spent an afternoon at Echo Lake for a "refreshing" swim. A special highlight was going to Sand Beach on the loop road, views were breathtaking. We took a lunch, left our stuff on the beach and hiked up and around Great Head Trail - a little challenging for some of us, but well worth it. I would highly recommend Eat a Pita restaurant for any meal in SW Harbor. My thanks to our hosts, and should we go Northeast - Downeast again, we will be sure to rent this special home.
Comfortable, very attractive house with a large deck looking out at forest. It was private, quiet, very convenient to Southwest Harbor, grocery shopping, Acadia. We discovered a way to walk into town over the causeway and through a forest path. There is every kind of glassware you might want, a
large fireplace in front of which it's lovely to sit at night, an Acadia mountain right down the road. We really liked SW Harbor, and this house made our 3 weeks even more of a pleasure. Owners were quickly responsive to questions and helpful, even leaving a vase of flowers to greet us. We would be happy to rent this house again.
Acadia National Park is the biggest feature of the area. The beauty is hard to beat and the park surrounds the area.
