Inquire today for a Memorable Lakefront Vacation in NH. While we're booked almost solid until October, That is just when prime Leaf peeping and Fall Fairs start!

A Stunning Lakefront home on crystal clear, sandy bottomed, 110 acre Forest Lake at the junction of NH,VT,& MA will be your long awaited retreat in the whispering pines, shimmering lakes, and beautiful foliage of New Hampshire. Bring the kids & dogs or just enjoy by yourselves.

The Great room with 25' high natural pine cathedral ceiling, skylights, entertainment center and fireplace is comfortably, casually, and uniquely furnished. Winter Time is terrific for a relaxing break from the Holiday season or go cross country skiing, snowshoeing or hiking from our door.

It looks out over the pristine Forest Lake that lends itself to a memorable vacation with family and friends. A fully equipped gourmet kitchen that incorporates a Jennair oven/range/grill, refrigerator/icemaker and dishwasher with ALL utensils, equipment, spices, condiments, etc. will make it difficult to try the eclectic restaurants in Keene, New Hampshire or historic Brattleboro, Vermont nearby.

The Four Bedrooms are 2 Queen beds, a Double, and the 4 season sun-porch with 2 single beds & Queen hide a bed (Great kid or teen suite with their own TV and VCR) and a Queen hide-a-bed in the living room and crib allow for a peaceful nights rest after a nice bath in the Jacuzzi tub or sitting in the private outdoor Hot Tub overlooking Forest Lake!

An additional living room/ sitting area with wood stove, AC and new half bath with full size washer & dryer gives you a chance to plan your day fishing, which is superb because the state stocks Brown & Rainbow trout to complement the numerous Large mouths, Perch, and Horned Pout. Enjoy swimming off the 150 square foot floating dock, using our canoe,3 kayaks, 4 person paddle boat, rafts on the lake, cross country or downhill skiing, snowmobiling on marked trails, antiquing and shopping in sales tax free NH, playing golf, hiking, biking, leaf-peeping, or attending one of the many auctions, flea markets, concerts, shows or festivals in the area.

For a little exercise and a 100 mile view, climb Mt Monadnock, the most climbed Mtn in the world and only 18 miles from the house. On a clear day you can see Boston! Horses and trail rides are less than a mile away and afterwards, rest those weary muscles in the Hot Tub with the Sunsets right into shimmering Forest Lake and the crackling campfire right in view.

Winter brings cross country skiing right from the door,(10 sets of skis, 12 sizes of boots & lots of skates, snowshoes, hockey sticks and Ice fishing 'jigs' for your use!)big time downhill skiing within an hour, snowmobiling on marked trails, ice skating, sledding, ice fishing or just relaxing around the wood stove, propane fireplace, or pellet stove.

Maybe best of all, just grab a book, snuggle in a chair by the fire,or on one of the 3 outdoor decks and just let your cares drift away as the sun slowly sets out over the lake!

About Paul & Anne Harris

We used to run a Country Inn and Spa in Canada. While we certainly enjoy our homes when we can, we really have fun providing an enjoyable and relaxing time for our guests, who do seem to return year after year. We'd like you to be one of them!

Paul & Anne Harris purchased this house in 2002

Why Paul & Anne Harris chose Monadnock Region

The town of Keene, NH, 9 miles north has a wide and constant variety of things to do, with it's 3 universities and very active merchants assoc. The main downtown, with 60 shops & restaurants, with no national chains is very unique. There are all the 'Big Box' stores on the outskirts of Keene. Funky Brattleboro, VT is only 14 quick highway miles away.

What makes this house unique

Forest Lake is very protected from prevailing winds, so it warms quickly in the Spring and freezes quickly in the Winter. As a mostly summer seasonal lake, from early fall to late Spring, you own the lake! We have all the boats and sports equipment for a fun filled vacation any time of the year! We always have a current list of things going on in the area, restaurant menus , maps, hiking guides etc.

Exceeded expectations

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Paul and Anne's place, anyone would. Plenty of space, the house is very well maintained, comfortable, and includes all the comforts of home, and more. We spent most of the week on the lake, in the hot tub, or on the front porch chillin', but did venture out to Keene and Brattleboro, as well as downtown Winchester for a little in town exploring. It was wonderful to have such a private home base for the week, minutes from these towns. One thing to be aware of, there is a long staircase down to the water, so the young and elderly might need a bit of help going up and down. BUT, there are two decks along the staircase that provide a place to rest along the way. When walking back up with my 78 year old mother in law, we stopped at one of them and drank a lemonade while she watched her grandchildren swim in the lake; a very sweet moment. Plus, all those foot falls on the way back up knock the sand loose before going back into the house. In the end, those stairs are actually a pretty cool feature of the property.

While we mostly hung at the house, here are a few local spots we recommend checking out:

- New England Sweetwater Farm Distillery: Go, take the tour, taste some samples, buy some product and support this new business. Say hi to Robert for me.

-Mt Pisgah Diner: Old school, classic dinner. Nothing fancy, eggs over easy, hash, home-fries and toast washed down with mediocre coffee. EXACTLY what I want out of a greasy spoon.

-Kulick Market: Close, convenient, and adequately stocked for a weeks worth of groceries. Plus, the State Liquor store is next door :)

-Gomoralo's Food & Circus: We bought some outstanding rib-eye steaks here for the grill

Perfect Vacation for our group

  • 5 of 5

We came to this property with 4 couples (each with at least 1 dog) and 1 child (who also has a dog) so 9 humans and 5 dogs. The house was big enough for all of us to be comfortable at all times. The dining room hosted all of us at dinner time, there were enough kayaks and canoes for us to all share and adventure together. We had great weather and loved being right on the water. Being on the side of the lake that we were, the sun didn't hit the dock until about noon or 1pm while we were there, but after that, it was so nice to be out there all day.

The owners were incredibly responsive and helpful! There is a leash law in the town so if your dogs are prone to wandering, I'd recommend keeping them on-leash if you're out in the front yard (and the neighbor across the street will remind you to leash anytime he sees your dog in the yard off leash) as we did end up with a few wandering dogs in the yard with no owners in sight.

Great property! Looking forward to booking again!

Wonderful, quiet vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

We were surprised when we arrived at the house! The pictures do not give full credit to the house, the area and the lake. We felt at home within a few minutes of surveying the inside. There was nothing we needed - it is fully equipped, kitchen and all. The landscape is gorgeous and so quiet. The outside decks allowed us to enjoy different spaces and views. The kids could play a game on one deck, adults could read on another and I could work on another. The lake is crystal clear. It was so nice having coffee at 7:00 in the morning watching the tiny fish eat breakfast. The weather was perfect - sorry, can't thank the owners for that - but if it wasn't, a trip to VT or Keene NH could provide plenty of things to do.. We also picked 10 pounds of blueberries at a local farm - delicious! It was a wonderful and memorable vacation. Would recommend this to everyone.

Only word to describe: PERFECT

  • 5 of 5

This was my 2nd time at Paul and Anne's lake house. Last year I only stayed for 3 nights, which was simply not long enough. I week isn't really long enough, but that's all the time I could take off of work.

The first few days were chilly and rainy, but we entertained ourselves with the movie and game collections. We did venture over to the relatively new Sweetwater Farm Distillery, which is located 2.5 miles away in the heart of Winchester. Highly, highly recommend. The owner, Rob, is an interesting and passionate guy. The spirits are delicious. Check the hours before you go, though, because they are not always open.

After the first few days of not so lovely weather, I spent the rest of the week camped out on the dock from about noon until the sun went down after 8. Leaving was incredibly difficult. I booked next year's visit before I even left. Yes, it's that great.

The property and house have literally everything you could need. We would joke because every time we needed something (scissors, tin foil, etc.) we would open a drawer or cabinet or two and find exactly that. Forest lake is clean, beautiful and quiet.

Paul and Anne are incredible hosts and have thought of everything. If you do need them, they are easy to reach and respond quickly.

I can't wait to go back!

Lake heaven

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely everything is in place here for multi-season enjoyment of the home and its beautiful natural setting. There were 4 of us, but I can see how a couple of families could easily be comfortably accommodated. The sunny porch is a great perch from which to see the lake below, but there are 2 other living rooms besides the porch. One can tell that the owners are seasoned VRBO participants by the preparation and planning they have afforded the guests. A fabulous vacation place!

Dream vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

My review is so late, but I was just looking at this property again for this year and realized I never reviewed it!! This home was literally everything I could have wanted and more. We had a few set backs, propane fireplace was not working (honestly, did not care! Mostly wanted to contact the owner to let them know that we hadn't done it! Haha), hot tub was pretty algead and scummy, and the most unfortunate issue was some sort of bugs that caused severe bites and scarring (I believe it may have been fleas 😕.) All of these things, I assume, were from the previous tenants. The property owners were BEYOND helpful and offered to head over and fix anything! We used the wood burning stove instead of the fireplace and were absolutely fine with it, I just happen to work in a canine pool and do the pool chemistry myself so was able to balance the hot tub back out with the provided chemicals, and we slept in the other bedroom and avoided any other bites (we had our own dog with us but he slept in his crate in the great room to avoid getting fur and dander all over the owners' bedding! So luckily we avoided bringing ANYTHING home with us!) Even with all the stuff, that could ONLY happen to us (no, really. We hadn't taken a vacation in TEN years, so there was just no way it would have gone smoothly for us haha.) But the property owners just made everything so easy and picked up each call starting with "hiiiii...sooooooooo" with such enthusiasm and genuine care that nothing else seemed to matter. I DREAMED of that hot tub in the snow and great room for weeks after! We will try to do this every year from now on, but will bring all our own bedding in the future just to be safe. Thanks for a GREAT stay! Can't wait to do it stay again for our anniversary!
