Exploring some of the back country terrain near Sun Peaks.
The Owner purchased this townhome in 2010
This unit is located right off of the Mt. Morrisey Connector, making it a convenient ski in/out base and removing the need to climb into a cold car at the end of the day. Compared to other properties at Sun Peaks, it's set back from the main Sun Peaks road so it is extremely quiet and peaceful.
The private, 8 person, hot tub is set on the back patio, nestled next to the trees. The townhouse backs onto the valley walking path, which leads into the village (a four minute walk).
We were a group of 8(3 adult,5 kid).
The unit is on 3 levels, which definitely helps keep the peace w/5 kids.
LOCATION:Not within the ‘village’, it is about a 10 min walk from the Sunburst/Sundance lifts & tubing. Mt Morrissey lift is very close. It is about 100m walk to the end of the complex road to access the ski trail. From here skate along the trail, under the underpass, across the bridge to the Mt Morrissey lift. Save yourself some time: this lift has a ticket window - you don’t need to walk to the village & back like I did!
MASTER:Lots of windows&natural lighting, slider door looking over the back to the trail and other complex behind. A closet on either side of dresser with TV on top. Bed was reasonably comfortable, w/nice linens. We were unable to work the TV, even after switching sources, just a message ‘no inputs connected’ on the screen. I have no idea why it failed to work. The ensuite is small& serviceable -sink, toilet, tub/shower. Very limited counter space; there is a drawer under the sink and a shelf above the toilet.
MAIN BATH:Similar to ensuite.
2ND BED:Has a dresser, night stands, closet. Window to the front
GARAGE:We never came through the front door, and always accessed the unit via the garage, which is well set up as an equipment room: hooks for clothes,tie-offs for skis, and some shelves for boots. (at least that’s what we used all that stuff for!)
1/2BATH: as expected
KITCHEN:Well-stocked with multiple pans, pots, rice cooker, crockpot, coffee maker and grinder, etc, etc. It’s all here. I personally found a slow 2-slice toaster in a place that sleeps 9 inadequate.Similarly, the kettle is small, and slow to boil. Dishwasher saw a lot of use, soap is supplied; the kitchen has small amounts of things like sugar, oil, salt&pepper. The foot switch for the built-in vacuum port (to sweep to, instead of a dustpan) is in front of the sink, so we hit it accidentally a lot. Like, all the time. It became the big joke of the trip.
Couch, two comfy arm chairs, some tables. Gas f/p, over which sits the smallest TV I’ve seen in years (19”?). Very high up, my hubby found it hurt his neck to look up to from the couch. This was the only TV that we could get to work (having said that, we were busy w/ skiing, tubing, hot tubbing, board&card games, homework, & Nintendo 3DSs, so whatever)
FAM RM/KIDS’ BED:
This room has the 2/1bunk, sofabed access to hot tub.
LAUNDRY: W/D in good working order and soap supplied.
Stayed with a family of 5 over the Christmas holiday. The house itself is perfect. Everything in nearly new shape. Complete kitchen. Comfortable beds, great garage, and lots of space.
It was my first time at Sun Peaks, so can't compare well to other locations. It's a little bit of a walk to the village, but not bad and we did multiple times a day. The townhome isn't right on the slope so to ski-in ski-out it takes a little effort down a path (and then you ski out to the southern chair lift, and ski in from the northern). Fine for teens and older, but easier to go straight to the village if you have little kids. Overall, I'd definitely go back and the owner was terrific. Even responded on Christmas day as I was inquiring whether I could extend!
Wonderful place to stay. The home is very clean and very well equipped with everything you need. Our family had a great stay and 3 great days of pure powder skiing.
Thanks for sharing your home with us. We will be back again.
We just finished a fantastic week at Sun Peaks and this was just the spot for our family of four. The home is large, clean, comfortable, and well-equipped (everything from sleds in the garage to coffee filters and plastic cling wrap in the kitchen). It really is a ski in/ski out property, even for our 7 year old, and the village was an easy walk for dinner or groceries. In fact, we didn't use our car one time during the week. The owner was very easy to reach and promptly answered questions for us as needed, and gave us the good advice to shop for food in Kamloops, as the offerings in Sun Peaks are pretty limited. We will definitely consider this property for our next Sun Peaks trip!
The property was in excellent condition, very clean, and nicely located. It was perfect for two couples and two to four kids; with separate spaces and bathrooms for all. The ski in - ski out and no driving while there is a great point for us. We would highly recommend it as a great place to stay.
Our family of five, plus two grandparents, had a wonderful time staying in this house over Christmas and New Years. The townhouse is perfectly situated -- close to the village, the ice rink, the pool and the lifts. The set up worked wonderfully for two sets of adults upstairs with the three kids on the ground floor. There is plenty of room for entertaining and gathering on the main floor. The unit is beautifully furnished and fully equipped with everything you could need. The garage was an unexpected plus and a great place to keep all our our ski gear. The kids loved the hot tub. The owners couldn't have been nicer -- very helpful and always responsive. They even added some holiday decorations before we arrived. We can't wait to go back!
