About Nancy Renee
My mom and her friend, two teachers, went on a trip together, travelling around Puerto Rico during a school vacation. When they discovered Rincon, they fell in love with it and decided to come back with their husbands. The two couples had discovered their perfect Caribbean refuge. The following year, they decided they wanted a place of their own in Rincon. They knew what they wanted and looked for a house on a calm beach but close to everything. They found our other house, which they named Casa Serena, it was in the perfect location. They bought the house, totally gutted it, rebuilt it and spent winters here together. They vacationed at Casa Serena as much as they could and eventually started renting it when they weren't there. When my husband and kids and I went to Rincon for the first time, it was love at first sight! We fell in love with the laid back atmosphere and friendliness of everyone in Rincon. It offered something for everyone; my daughter likes to sunbathe and swim and relax in our garden, my son likes all kinds of water sports, my husband and I like to try all the new restaurants, relax and do some sightseeing. So my mother and I decided to buy the land next to Casa Serena and build a new, larger house. When we built Casa Tamara, it was designed as a rental home from the beginning, but since our extended family loves Rincon so much, we often reserve Casa Tamara or both houses for our own family and friends and have lots of room for everyone. My mother's friend who originally discovered Rincon with my Mom, moved to Rincon permanently when she and her husband retired; they loved Rincon so much that they never wanted to leave.
Nancy Renee purchased this House in 1991
Why Nancy Renee chose Stella
My mom was early to discover Rincon and really found a house in the perfect location. We are on the best beach for swimming and since it is in a residential community, it is not filled with tourists, so most of the time the only people on the beach are the people renting the houses along the beach. It is almost like having a private beach and yet we are close to a supermarket, shops, restaurants and a short walk down the beach from a small family hotel with a beach bar, restaurant and equipment rentals. If you anyone wants to surf, it is a short drive to the surfing beaches.
What makes this House unique
Besides the best location in Rincon, our homes have other unique advantages. We have a fenced in garden yard, great for children to runaround and play without you being worried that they will run right into the water and also great for sunbathing or reading on our lounge chairs and hammocks. Our homes are not built right up to the houses on both sides, there is a private driveway for off street parking for each rental. AND it is a short walk to Villa Cofresi, with beach bar and restaurant and rentals of kayaks, jet skiis, paddle boards etc. And 3 blocks to the supermarket and a few restaurants and shops. Really the best location.

Post hurricane review /great stay
Our very recent stay upstairs lat casa Tamara was just great. Our family of two little kids (9 and 3) , their parents and a set of grandparents found it to be perfect for our needs. Bedrooms large, and well equipped, even bedside reading lamps. - which we often find annoyingly lacking in other rental vacation homes. Arrangement of rooms allowed for privacy for the grandparents, and easy access between the other two bedrooms. Kitchen well equipped, both inside dining option and outside porch great for family meals. Views from the porch amazing, straight out to the ocean. Also there was no sound transmission from the downstairs apartment. Apartment was very clean, lots of information re restaurants, shopping etc. all the positive stuff in other reviews accurate
As others have said, Nancy was very available and responsive.,Gladys the onsite manager super pleasant and always available .
We were of course concerned what shape Rincon and the beaches were post hurricanes. Some businesses right on the water had significant damage but were open and and busy repairing the damages.
We found very good restaurants up and running, local fruit and vegetable trucks fully stocked, businesses like surf schools, ocean related rental places (think renting snorkeling gear) open for business.one could still see some effects like downed trees off to the side of the road and folks still working on house repairs, but town felt vibrant and residents expressed optimism that things were getting back to normal. They certainly were pleased that we were there
During our stay there was a series of nor’easters which impacted the waves in Rincon , making it a little rough for swimming. The grandkids however had a wonderful time in the water with their parents and the beach still good for sand play and beach combing. It was too tumultuous for snorkeling, tho snorkeling was good at Tre Palmas, the marine preserve off Steps beach. (Go early, like before 10, if you want to find parking) calm swimming at the local public beach (I think it is the balerno)
In sum we found casa Tamara to be the best, so close to the water, super well equipped, beach great for little ones, fun for grownups. We enjoyed watching other renters riding boogie boards right out front of the house. Rincon was fun. Check out farmers market on Sunday morning Highly recommended!
Dear Paul and family,
Thanks for the great review, very thorough and informative. I am sure that people searching for a great house on the beach will appreciate your details. We are very happy to have had your family enjoy our home and our great town. We hope you come back again for another visit soon.
Best Family Vacation for 3 generations
Our family consisting of grandparents, parents and two teenagers had a great time and found that Casa Tamara was comfortable and well equipped for all of us. The grandparents spent a lot of time walking on the beach, relaxing on the terrace and swimming in front of the house. The teens took a surfing lesson, tried paddle boarding and swam and snorkeled a lot. the parents did all of the above and took everyone on a couple of day trips. We cooked a few meals in the very well equipped kitchen and ate on the porch watching the sunset. Our family has been to Rincon a few times and love the town and the beaches and the great, friendly atmosphere. Casa Tamara was in a great location, great beach, and great house. AND, when we needed some help arranging an outing, Gladys was extremely helpful and very pleasant. Thanks for a great family vacation.
It was great having your family as our guests. We look forward to your next visit to Rincon and Casa Tamara.
Beautiful house! Electricity is on!
My family and I stayed at Casa Tamara 2nd floor during the week of Christmas 2017. The house was in great shape and the electricity was on! It was truly amazing what a transformation took place over the ten days that we were there - landscapers were working hard to make things right and they did a beautiful job. Rincon is green again and all the restaurants, grocery stores, shops are open! The Art Walk snd the Farmers market were both in full swing!
It was our pleasure to host your family for their holiday work vacation. Rincon thanks your family for spending your vacation volunteering, working on repairing the damage caused by Hurricane Maria. Thanks so much for choosing Casa Tamara for your vacation. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
The Best Family Vacation We've Ever Had!
We have just returned from a fantastic vacation in Rincon and I wanted to write to thank you before the glow and tan wore off! Last year my husband and I and our two children, 3 and 6 years old, stayed in Casa Serena. We know that you usually rent the houses separately, but we thought that they might work well for a big family reunion. We reserved both homes, Casa Serena and Casa Tamara and were hoping that having our whole family together, but in 4 separate apartments, would not be too much for all of us. It worked out better than we had imagined. Nancy was great to work with and the caretakers were so helpful - they even brought us fresh fruit from their garden.
We had our family, our three siblings' families and our parents, 19 people in all.
Each couple had a master bedroom with a private bathroom, quite a luxury, and there were enough bedrooms for all the kids. By the way, the beds were super comfortable. The houses are beautifully furnished, had all the amenities and the kitchens were very well equipped. Since each apartment is totally separate, each
family had their privacy, when they wanted it and yet we were all together, when we wanted that. Since Casa Serena and Casa Tamara are right next door to each other, we could wander back and forth easily. We did barbeque twice and had a great time having dinner all together.
That's all about the houses and the convenience for a big group, but since most people don't come in a big group, I want to say that the main attraction of your houses is the location. We found out last year that your houses are on the best beach in Rincon, maybe in all of Puerto Rico! And the beach is right there. We could roll out of bed and jump into the beautiful, clear, calm water of your Caribbean beach. The older kids loved snorkeling right in front of the house and the water was calm enough for the younger kids. And my parents, in the late Fifties, loved the fact that the water was calm and shallow for a good distance. Also, we were all very happy that you have a fenced in grassy back yard so that the kids could run around without running into the water, and some of us older folks could just sun on the lounge chairs in the backyard. And then the hammocks were a great attraction, the teenagers tended to monopolize them.
When we weren't on the beach or relaxing at the house, we enjoyed
Location, Location, Location!
Just back from a week spent at the upper unit of Casa Tamara.
We've been to Puerto Rico many times. This is just a beautiful spot. Fantastic, spacious porch overlooking the ocean (loved the gravity loungers!) Gorgeous sunsets every night where we enjoyed plenty of cocktails (our apologies to our downstairs Canadian neighbors for that off-key sing-a-long that one night ;-)). The apartment itself is roomy and well-equipped. Beach towels and chairs to carry down to the beach, just yards away from the house. Ample natural shade on the beach. Outside shower to wash off the sand and salt.
Nancy Renee is an excellent, very attentive host and it was nice to know that we could call her if we had questions about anything.
While we cooked all of our dinners at home, we went out for lunch several times. We highly recommend the fish tacos at the Pool Bar at the Lazy Parrot. Ate there twice. We also had lunch out at El Fogon De La Curva a few times (take a right on Rt. 115 and it's about 3 miles up on the right). They never had enough fish to open the fish market attached to the restaurant but they did have very basic but very good food cheap. ($9 for a piece of fish with two sides.) Try the grouper, red snapper, lion fish and roast pork.
One other recommendation is that you might want to consider bringing good ear plugs (I'm a light sleeper so I came prepared). Puerto Rico is an island with lots of roosters and dogs and cats and they begin their symphony in the early morning hours.
We ended our trip Saturday morning by getting up for a sunrise swim in the ocean. I highly recommend this! The water was warmer than it was midday (and midday was a comfortable temperature). It's hard to describe how spectacular it is to wade in the calm, warm ocean as the sky reflects pinks, purples and yellows. Heavenly!
Thanks very much for choosing Casa Tamara for your visit. Since you have been to our area many times, your positive opinion of our house and location are particularly meaningful.
We look forward to welcoming you back for your next visit.
our home away from home
This is our 16th year at this house and it remains as a paradise for us. We travel frequently, all over the world, and we're always happy to return to our three weeks at Casa Tamara on this wonderful stretch of beach, in this lazy town with friendly people. The house is well equipped and beautifully situated, well cared for and as always, we're content.
