Whistling Duck a Romantic One Bedroom Cottage, One Full Bath, Porch and Deck.
About Cheryl Paddock
The best part of being the contact person for the cottages is that I love the interactions with people of every inquiry I receive. Each story is unique and the reasons for coming to LI - anniversaries, birthdays, getting married, or just plain kicking back to relax, are all to be celebrated and I love being a part of it. Many guests we have met and they have become friends to both Barry and I. We always look forward to meeting up again and rejoice when our paths do cross at the same time.
Why Cheryl Paddock chose Clarence Town
From the first moment visiting Long Island and the Lochabar area, Barry and I felt we had found home. The amazing beauty and safety of the harbor, the local people & neighbors who have become close friends and the sea life plus the surrounding vegetation make this the ultimate place to relax or enjoy numerous water sports & activities. The 3 cays in front are accessible by kayak to beach comb for shells, bring a picnic or enjoy solitary pursuits. It also makes the water calm with the amazing colors of turquoise and many shades of blue. Simply amazing!
What makes this Cottage unique
Sea life with turtles & rays plus the birds, butterflies and flowers surround you with their presence to enjoy. The cottage location makes it easy to dine out. There are 2 local restaurants close by that serve Bahamian style meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner and there are several stores within driving distance if you wish to eat in to enjoy the view.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Perfect location to unplug & relax. Privacy, outstanding views, plenty to take in around the beautiful scenic island, snorkeling & diving, fishing, kayaking, sailing & beach combing. Friendly, helpful locals. All good!!!
Whistling Duck Cottage
We had a great time. It was just what we wanted for a memorable 50th wedding anniversary vacation. The cottage and nearby vegetation were beautiful as were the views of the ocean from the cottage decks. We especially enjoyed happy hours on the front deck with our friends who were staying in the Passionate Pelican cottage. From the deck we could see turtles, sharks, barracudas, and rays cruising the waters near the cottage. Outings including walking the beach south of the cottage and kayaking to the remote beaches which form the southern border of the Lochabar blue hole area. Evening dinners at the restaurants near the marina were excellent.
Amazing oceanfront views!
We had an amazing visit! Everything we needed was there! The cottage was perfectly nestled offering privacy and relaxation galore! We loved the bedroom deck and outdoor shower and front porch! It was as if we were wrapped with incredibly aqua colored views and calming Breezes. Was never windy and the water was calm. The sunrises were amazing! Our favorite grocery stores were Seaside (closer) and Hillside ( further away... north near Salt Pond.. but offered more choices snd also had some vegan options.) We loved the Museum! So many hidden treasures on this island! Get a small jeep.. u will need it for some of the off beat roads to places u don't want to miss. Compass Cove road is trecherous but worth it and if u walk beyond the first spa pool... over the dunes you will find a hidden Heaven... a large perfect clam shell shaped pool with crystal blue water! Worth the ride and trek! Also, our boat adventure with John at Everything Under The Sun in Mangrove Bush was out of this world! We saw pigs, sea turtles and the most amazing waterscapes! We also met a sweet old dog named Butch on side of the road living at a shelter his family made for him. He lives on the foundation of an old store where his owner once lived. Some awesome people who live on the island have known him over 7 years and take care if him. He is friendly and likes any treats u may have. We dropped off a big chunk of ice in his water pot and shaped up his space some with a new tarp. Again, he is loved and taken care of there since he does not want to leave his home where his owner was. Great trip, great locals and great island! Drive slow and watch out for the goats on side of road and on road. This is the best cottage and best location on the island. Thank you Nancy and Cheryl! jenn and tonya (SC)
Beautiful place! Very responsive owners! Can't wait to go back!
My wife and I had an amazing 10-day stay at Whistling Duck! The owners were very responsive, the place was immaculate, and the view of the gorgeous water from the cottage was simply amazing! It was an easy drive to whatever we needed (be sure to ask about Molly). You are steps from a beautiful beach, and water so clear, you can see the bottom. We really enjoyed kayaking across to the islands just across the way. As we were exploring the Island, and we did quite a bit, we were struck by how friendly the people there are, and how everyone seemed to be so happy living there. We are certainly looking forward to our next trip to the Bahamas, and our stay at Whistling Duck!!!
This was our 1st time to Long Island and couldn’t have been more pleased.
We lived the cottage with our ocean front view.
Clean, beautiful. Relating was exactly what we were looking for and we found it in this extremely friendly island. People here are amazing. Can’t wait to come back
Third visit, as wonderful as ever
My husband and I have stayed visited Long Island multiple times, staying in Whistling Duck three of those times. The cottage is perfect: not too small, not too big. The kitchen is well appointed, the bed is great. There are two outdoor porches, and you're very close to the water. There is another cottage on the property but Whistling Duck is the more private of the two. You won't be disappointed with Whistling Duck!
