South Lake Tahoe House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8-12)

This home is located in the neighborhood of Tahoe Island. It is near the private community of Tahoe Keys in South Lake Tahoe. The beach and Lake are within walking distance. This home backs up to a wildlife area. It is approximately 3 miles to the Casinos. There are plenty of things to do very nearby. All 4 BR's are located upstairs. Upon entering you find the living room with a wood burning fireplace, couches, table with chairs, and flat screenTV with cable and wifi. The kitchen is off to the right where there are double ovens and a huge breakfast nook. The family room has more couches, flat screen TV and a pool table. There are glass doors that go to the covered back porch where you can dine while overlooking the back yard and wildlife area. The 10 person hot tub is on the back porch.

Upstairs you will find 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed and 2 chairs in the seating area. There is a twin mattress for use if needed in the closet. It also has a master bath with shower. Bedroom #2 has a queen and twin. Bedroom #3 has a queen and twin. Bedroom #4 has a king. There is a bathroom upstairs with a tub.

Family Weekend Getaway

I stayed at the property the weekend of Aug 6 for 2 nights. We had 6 adults and 2 children. The other 4 people in our party that were suppose to go canceled so we had PLENTY of room. The decor is simple and yet comfortable.We enjoyed the pool table and the hot tub each night we were there. The house was well maintained with all the comforts of home. We booked on a last minute and i was thrilled at the help the owner gave me in getting everything set up so quickly. If you are a large family with small children i would suggest this house to you. We drove a few minutes to go rafting in Tahoe city and the beach was about a 5 minute drive.

Just a negative experience.

Sad to have to write this review, but it is necessary and hope it will help a family to better choose a place to enjoy their vacation time.

As soon as we arrived I had to call Carolyn, she's the person that processed our reservation. Couldn't get the front door to open, she kept telling me that I had to read the info she provided, questioning me like a child, it was bizarre, I had made an honest mistake and had read the code wrong and all she could say was "oh, tough one!" With a sarcastic tone. Nice welcoming!!

The house seemed clean at first, but we found some dirty clothes under a bed and the grill was really dirty as well so we decided not to use it. Kitchen, not updated!

We had two main problems. The first one was the garbage disposal in the kitchen didn't work. We love to cook therefore lots of dirty dishes to wash! We turned on the switch for the disposal any it was a water explosion all over. We informed her immediately, this time it was my husband that called her and again the same kind of treatment from this Carolyn lady, accusing us of not knowing how a garbage disposal works and that we were going to get charged for it instead of just doing what any landlord should do, apologize and send someone over to fix the problem. My husband said the same thing I did when he ended the phone call. Just plain rudeness!! She never sent anyone to fix it so we just had to deal with it throughout our stay, grandpa was napping while all this was happening so the next day when he decided to help with the dishes and turned on the disposal, yes, you know what happened!

Another mayor issue was the door in the upstairs bathroom. It kept getting stuck. You could only open it from the outside. First, one of the kids got locked in and everyone was downstairs, not a happy camper, and then grandma in the morning while everyone was still sleeping. Also reported that to her to what her reply was "it works perfectly well" I guess we must be from another planet and don't know how a door works either.

My suggestion to her is to fix the issues with this property (lots of other little things too) and then list for rent.

Last but not least, not sure if Carolyn was just having a bad week or what, but honestly, who wants to have no choice but to deal with someone like that during your "relaxing" vacation time that you work so hard for and are looking forward to all year!?!? She was supposed to be our go to for help and assistance and it was just the total opposite.

Owner's Response: Juliana, It is sad that I have to write a response to people who do not feel the need to be accountable for their actions. Juliana was extremely rude to me when she called accusing me of giving her the wrong code for the door. Please note..the correct code was given she just read it wrong and was extremely rude and upset with me thinking I had given her the wrong code. She said she had tried repeatedly to use the code given and seemed upset and distraught that she couldn't open the door. Usually when guests call me hours upon checking in or prior to checking in with problems it is because they are not reading all of the instructions for check in. I never said "Tough One"! I received another call from the guests husband telling me the plumbing wasn't working in the kitchen and that the garbage disposal wasn't working. He described the problem to me. He said the water was spraying all over the place and that water was leaking under the sink into the cabinet. I informed him that it sounded like they had clogged the disposal. He said that they had put food down it but it wasn't clogged it was my plumbing not working! I told him it had been working properly and that if I called the plumber and it was determined that the issue was from a clog that he would be responsible for paying the repair. He told me he would look at it and call me back if he couldn't clear it up. I never received another call from them therefore the plumber wasn't called. Apparently the guests fixed the issue because the disposal and plumbing were working after they checked out. I am sure the kitchen cabinet has suffered some damage from the water leaking under the sink caused by the guests negligence. I have suffered damage in some way and the guests have not been charged for such issues. The bathroom door lock was getting stuck because someone had put toilet paper in the door jam where the cylinder falls in. My housekeeper simply removed it and the door lock works fine. I am extremely tired of being blamed for others ignorance. When you rent a home you assume responsibility. You need to be aware of common issues they may arrive from your own use and need to have some problem solving skills. Do not blame me for issues that are caused by your own actions. I am not rude but when I or my staff is accused of something wrong my response might not be what is expected. Please check the facts first.

fully equipped house, but need little more improvement

The heat is not warm enough during the night. Definitely needs more blankets. Wi-fi was out during our stays. Except att, other wireless carriers couldn't get any receptions. My friends were totally disconnected with Internet, phone, and tv..

Good location but needs some updating

Great location and fun place

We had a blast at this place. It's close to everything. We did sledding and tubing, shopping in heavenly village, emerald bay with the hike to the castle, and just had fun together at the house playing cards and watching sports. Lots of dishes/pans and plates to help with dinners. Kids loved the hot tub and walking around in the snow in the back.

We definitely want to stay again!

Owner's Response: Great to hear! Thank you. The month prior to your arrival we renovated the kitchen with new counters, new glass stove top, sink and paint. We changed the bedding in a few bedrooms, added curtains and polished the bathtub. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Looking forward to hearing from you in the future.

We had a great time

We had a big group get away to Lake Tahoe and we all had a great time. Despite all the other bad reviews the home was pretty decent. The kitchen cabinets could be updated but we didn't have a problem with it. The parking space could be a little wider, it was hard to try to fit 4 cars into the parking spaces. The hot tub and pool table was a plus because we had something to do to keep us company. Overall I would definitely come back especially the price for our stay was worth it and it felt like home. Thank you.
