About Matthew Freedman
We're back! You'll see that we got great reviews from our former guests (2010-2014). Then we took a break. But now we're up and running again, beginning July 2017 - offering the same down home experience, a peaceful getaway. AND a newly renovated kitchen space. Brooksville has been our home for over 30 years. With more than 50 miles of coastline, the scenery is fantastic, but it's also the strong sense of community and sensible pace of life that make it a great place to spend time.
Matthew Freedman purchased this Cabin in 2010
What makes this Cabin unique
You can pay more for a water view. But if you're happy with a quiet, slightly inland spot (within 1/2 mile of the saltwater), sitting on the screened-in front porch enjoying the woods and wildlife, this may be the economy choice for you. The cabin is clean and comfortable. We enjoy welcoming guests and orienting you to our beautiful corner of the world and what it has to offer.

Wonderful Maine cabin
We enjoyed a wonderful month-long stay in Kathleen and Matthew's lovely cabin. It is neat, efficient, and very generously outfitted with everything visitors might need or want. The kitchen is well provided for cooking all meals and there are more than ample linens. It was great to have the washer and dryer for our long stay. Matthew and Kathleen are communicative and thoughtful hosts, friendly and available, never intrusive. When Kathleen stopped by with laundry one morning, we mentioned that a footstool might be a good addition. We came home a day or two later to find they'd brought one by. We enjoyed the Blue Hill peninsula and nearby Deer Isle, Mt Desert Island and Acadia National Park, and the Maine coast from Pemaquid to Great Wass Island Downeast. We ate all the seafood we've missed and attended local summer concerts and festivals. We've been away from our Maine home for many years now and it was such a treat to come back for this great vacation. Thank you, Matthew and Kathleen!
Peaceful and comfortable
I would recommend this cabin to anyone. It’s a just a very pleasant place to stay, sitting on the porch, you’ve got your kitchen, laundry , anything you need right there. I slept the best I have in months...it was very comfortable. Thanks
They have everything you need and more. Things you'd forget to bring ! Very lovely cottage to stay in for a vacation!
We spent 4 days here after my grandsons wedding at Sunday River Resort, the perfect spot for relaxing and taking in all the beauty that this area of Maine has to offer. Loved the muffins and pastries at Bucks Country Market. The cabin was cozy and very comfortable.
Great getaway place
Kathleen and Matt’s cottage was a great home base for our Maine stay. It has a nice layout, with kitchen and living room together. Having stayed on Deer Isle in the past, the location made side trips to Belfast, Acadia, and New Brunswick a bit closer. It was nice to meet Matt one morning. Unless you have a larger party, this is a great choice.
Lovely; tidy ,clean and efficient. Suited our needs. Even mailed my glasses that I left behind.
You will find many opportunities for canoeing, kayaking & sailing within minutes of the cabin.Summer offers plenty of live music - from chamber music at Kneisel Hall to weekly steelband street dances. Need a mooring? Call or e-mail for more information.
