About Shelly Ervin

We are a family of five in the SE area of Michigan. My husband and I have three children who keep us plenty busy with hockey. We both work full time and have each been with a Fortune 500 company for many years. This home is our favorite getaway and we are glad to share it with others. It has all the comforts of home and is a great place to make beautiful memories!

Shelly Ervin purchased this house in 2004

Why Shelly Ervin chose Northern Michigan

The view, the beach, the water! We have been all around Michigan and you can't beat this stretch of Lake Huron for pure sugar sand and great swimming. The home itself has so many views of the lake, you can't beat it. We put a lot of time and effort into decorating and upgrading the property. We have been very fortunate with wonderful guests who treat our home like their own. We promise you won't be disappointed.

What makes this house unique

Million dollar views! The layout of the house and windows gives great views of the lake. It's also beautifully decorated with all the comforts of home.

The home is nestled between the piers of Oscoda and East Tawas so access to both towns is quick.

The AuSable River is just minutes away. Enjoy fishing, canoeing, or tubing on the river.

Wonderful Vacation Home for Couples and Families

  • 5 of 5

This fantastic beach-front home has great views of Lake Huron from the patio, living room, family room, dining room, kitchen and master bedroom. The home is fully furnished including a very nice game room. Our vacation experience actually exceeded our expectations.

We enoyed the long walks on the beautiful beach and the evenings around the fire pit. The fall color change provided great views all along the AuSable River scenic roadways.

Oscoda is a nice little town with many little shops and several good restaurants to enjoy.

Peaceful, tranquil, heavenly

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at Ervin's Escape over the Thanksgiving holiday. It was a wonderful respite from our everyday busy lives. The home was beautiful, clean, and provided us with fantastic views of the lake and was a true testament to God's goodness and beauty. We would recommend this home to everyone.

Beautiful vacation home for a Fall getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a wonderful Fall visit staying at this beautiful beachfront home. The view of Lake Huron from the very large Living room windows is spectacular. It’s the perfect spot for morning coffee or to just sit and watch the water while being entertained by the squirrels playing. The spacious house is tastefully furnished and decorated throughout, giving a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.

Sleeping in the comfortable master bedroom is very pleasant as we were lulled to sleep each night by the gentle sound of the waves on the beach. If you leave the blinds open, you can take a peek out the window at night and see the stars or maybe spot a passing ship way out in the lake. Be sure to wake up early so you don’t miss the sunrise.

We found this to be a great spot for a Fall getaway as the neighborhood has few people around this time of year, the bugs are gone, and the weather is cool and comfortable. The nearby River Road scenic byway is a great Fall color tour. And most of the shops in downtown East Tawas are open and uncrowded.

We can’t wait to go back again.

Great family get-a-way!

  • 5 of 5

This lovely vacation home was everything we expected plus more! There is plenty of room to spread out ( open floor-plan) and the windows across the back family room allowed for beautiful morning sunrise views on Lake Huron. We loved our trip and want to stay again!

Perfect Access to the Beach for Families

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time at Ervin's Escape and Lake Huron. The house has perfect access to the beach, making it easy for families with kids of all ages. Instead of planning for a day at the beach and having to pack, we could just walk right out the back door. We enjoyed the fire pit, the volleyball net, and of course, the soft sand. The sleeping arrangements were also lovely with plenty of room for our family of six.

Unfortunately, the black flies decided to make an appearance, but a friendly neighbor came over and offered us her "skin so soft," which worked wonders.

Our kids were super excited about the "game room" and play structure, but the room was locked and the play structure seemed to have aged past usability. Neither mattered in the end, though, because the best fun was had on the beach.

The booking process with Shelly was fast and easy and the instructions were simple to follow.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the lovely review! I do want to clarify the game room situation. We recently turned the North Garage into a screened in lounging area - but since the electrical is not finished we have not advertised this room (you won't see it on my listing) and it is locked for safety reasons. The actual "game room" is the room you walk into from the entry door of the driveway. It includes Foosball and bumper pool and it also has sleeping accommodations (it's a large room). That is how we advertise in our listing. Once the North Garage is complete we will change our advertising and open it to renters. I hope that clarifies things. As for the swing set, this will be resolved for next season. We are still deciding what to do. Thank you again for taking the time to write a review and we are so glad you enjoyed our home! :-)
