There is dim-able lights and also a TV in this bathroom, in case you like a little entertainment with your bubbles and long hot soak.

The master bedroom is just that, built for a master, it is not small by any measure and takes up the same amount of space as the living room bellow it. Great location for exploring Queen Village & historic Philadelphia

  • 5 of 5

The apartment, as pictured, consists of the entire 2nd and 3rd floors of a building in the midst of the South Street corridor. To reach the levels, steep steps must be negotiated and there is no elevator. As soon as you enter, you feel the "luxury" of the apartment's name.

Once in the apartment, you find a huge living room containing 2 large sofa/sleepers together with a high-end kitchen/eat-in dining room area; up another steep staircase is a huge open plan room with a desk and fax/scanner/printer at one end and the bed at the other. The former came in handy for a business issue that had to be dealt with. The refrigerator and kitchen were filled with staples such as coffee, a great tea selection, a welcome bottle of wine, etc. There is a small grocery store next door if you need more basics.

Both floors are flooded with light from the windows facing the street. It was also well lit. We had fun figuring out which of the many light switches controlled which lights.

The bed was very comfortable, with luxurious linens and pillows. There is a washer-dryer room off the bedroom available to people on a long stay (be careful getting out of bed on that side not to misstep from the platform the bed is on into the entrance to the laundry room). We hung our clothes in there, as the closets in the bedroom were not available.

The bathroom has a large whirlpool bath plus separate shower with multiple showerheads. Plenty of large, soft bath towels are available.

There are TVs in the dining area, living room, bedroom, and bathroom; the bedroom's has Roku TV with Netflix and Hulu. We stayed during a major snowstorm and were snowbound for a day and welcomed the chance to binge-watch Netflix. Because of the weather, we did not experience any of the noise from the street, no one was out there. Likewise, don't know if sound carries up the stairs to the apartment from the tattoo parlor on the first floor, which was closed, so I can't comment on that issue raised in other reviews.

Within 5 blocks in any direction are many restaurants and bars ranging from the Ishkabibble's take-out window to a creperie, pizzeria, several bars, some with "new American" food, the 4th Street Deli, and more. It took us ~10 minutes to walk up 5th Street to the Independence Hall/Liberty Bell area for many museums and Revolutionary War and National Park Service sites. Once we parked the car in a garage a block away (expensive), we didn't use it until we left.

When can we come back??

  • 5 of 5

I don't even know where to begin with our was FABULOUS! From the ease of check in with Kate (Anna's assistant), to the comfort of this adorable place, to the fun location in such an eclectic part of Philadelphia, I would not hesitate for one minute to stay here again. There was so much comfort from the furnishings to the massive amounts of linens. And I can't say enough about the kitchen!! Although we didn't cook in the kitchen, it had EVERYTHING you could possibly need. The washer and dryer were perfect for two parents traveling by backpack only with three teenagers! The location of this south Philadelphia gem is perfect. You are within walking distance of colonial Philly, downtown Philly, but can step right out the front door and be right in the middle of funky shopping and food! On a side note, I highly recommend eating at Tattooed Mom and then enjoying Thai ice cream at Ice Max - walking distance, super fun, and super yummy! Thank you Anna and Kate!!

Beautiful home, convenient location

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in Anna's home and plan to book again next time we are in Philadelphia. The apartment is beautiful and comfortable. The neighborhood is fun for going out and is convenient to dining, walking to old city, Passyunk, and the Delaware river. Museums are convenient by bike share, a longer walk, or taxi. We ended up spending more time than we thought we would just relaxing in the apartment because it was so comfortable to just stay home! Anna's assistant Kate was very responsive and helpful checking us in.

A great place for a weekend away!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our long weekend in Anna's lovely apartment. We live in Pittsburgh and hadn't been to Philly for years--decided it was time to change that. The apartment was walking distance to pretty much everyplace we wanted to go and the 2-story layout of the apartment made it very spacious. Kate met us when we arrived and was very helpful when we had questions. We also really appreciated the ability to stay a bit later than the check out time to accommodate our transportation needs home. We didn't do any cooking at all, but if we had wanted to, there was absolutely everything there we would have needed. Lots of great eating places nearby. Would definitely recommend the apartment for other visitors to Philly!
