This is one of the nicest 2 bedroom condos in Kona Shores. It is completely renovated and redecorated. It has completely tiled floors including the lanais, granite counter tops in the kitchens and bathrooms and new cabinetry. The windows and sliding doors are dual pane glass. The top of the line furniture and beds will be a welcome change from what you normally see in other condos. There are flat screen TVs in the living room and one bedroom and there are 2 sliding doors that go out to the quiet, private lanai. We also own the 2 bedroom unit next door. See VRBO #290416 for our other unit. Don't be fooled by some of the other units in the complex! Please take the time to read all the 5 star guest reviews on our units. The units together make for a great multi-family vacation. Both units have shower stalls only, so they are not suitable for infants and toddlers. We want our units to be very nice because this will be our home away from home whenever we can escape to the Big Island for some rest and relaxation......
This unit is a ground level, small 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom condominium in a low rise (2 story) complex located one mile south of downtown Kailua-Kona. A very easy walk takes you to all the activities. Even if you don't need second bedroom it is a nice room to read or take an afternoon nap, and we have priced our unit to provide affordable vacation accommodations.
Both bedrooms have new queen size beds and an conditioner in the larger bedroom. The lanai has patio furniture and is a great place to enjoy dinner after a busy vacation day at the beach or sightseeing!!Relax and watch the new 40' flat screen TV in the living room. We provide free wireless internet (bring your laptop or tablet), but bring your cell phone as there is no phone in the unit. There is also an AC unit in the living room.
The updated kitchen is well equipped with brand new appliances and everything you should need to cook. 4 ceiling fans appoint the condo..An assigned parking space is only 30 feet from the front door. Beach towels, coolers and lawn chairs are also provided for your beach days. The complex pool is AWESOME!!!
Kona Shores is an ocean side complex centrally located on Alii Drive which is the oceanfront road that goes to Kailua-Kona. It is a short walk for shopping, dining, people watching or just to go and have an evening cocktail. The Big Island has just about everything you could ask for...Great Beaches...Golfing...Deep-Sea Fishing...Snorkeling...Diving...an Active Volcano and Much, Much More!

We bought this condo in May 2010 in a small 80 unit complex. We also own the unit next door which we purchased in January 2010. We bought both units for us to use and to have as vacation rentals. We wanted to appoint them very nice as they will be our homes away from home when we escape to the Big Island for some rest and relaxation. The friendly attitude of the people (both local and tourists) make this a great place to visit. We are both retired and are looking forward to spending time at our new place with the kids and grandchildren... Doug & Evie

My husband and I (both newly 60) and my sister thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The 2 bedroom unit was updated, clean, comfortable and quiet. It was well equipped with everything we needed including A/C. We especially enjoyed our time spent watching the sunset from the ocean front pool and bbq time at the charcoal grills! It was a great opportunity to meet the other guests, share ideas on places to see and food to try. It's a very well kept and friendly complex made up of short and long term tourists and locals. The owner, Doug, is very helpful and quick to respond to any questions. Enjoy your stay and don't forget to pack water shoes...you'll need to wear them at most of the beaches.
We spent 12 days in this unit and enjoyed many of its amenities. It is very clean, well-decorated and well-equipped/stocked. The bed was very comfortable and the unit is well-located within the complex. We were surprised at how quiet it was! The small dining table may present a problem for families, but otherwise it is a unit that is worth a second visit.
This is the second time we stayed at this condo. It is even better than our first visit about 5 years ago. The kitchen and bathroom have been remodeled and all of the floors are tile now. The kitchen was well stocked. The unit was so clean and neat it was a pleasure to return. The kids loved the pool which is right beside the ocean and we spent our evenings enjoying the Kona sunsets from the poolside. Most days we were out exploring the island and its beaches. We didn't make it to the volcano this trip but I would recommend it to anyone visiting the island. From start to finish you will spend a whole day if you visit this volcano. I recommend this condo very highly and hope we will return for a 3rd visit.
This condo had everything we needed for a pleasant stay in Kona. It has been updated and includes lots of extras. The furniture is more comfortable than other properties I've stayed at in Hawaii and felt like home. Beach supplies are stored on the patio; the umbrella came in very handy! There are only two beach towels provided. I would stay here again.
We enjoyed a wonderful week at this condo. It is completely upgraded and furnished and decorated to very high standards. The unit was very clean and we received our security deposit back 2 days later via paypal. The pool was right beside the ocean and we viewed the awesome Kona sunsets almost every night from poolside.We met some nice people at the complex (both locals and vacationers) and the overall feeling was very laid back and friendly. We even got to see another 2 bedroom vacation unit which had virtually no updating and was rented at a higher price than ours. It was an easy 3/4 mile walk in to town for dinner or drinks. We would recommend this unit highly.
After a bit of a rocky start, this ended up being a great place to stay. Through no fault of the owner, the unit hadn't been cleaned after the last use. He made it right. Paid for our dinner while condo was being cleaned. The beds are amazingly comfortable which is so nice after a day of walking, swimming, driving, and shopping. The unit is nicely appointed. Awesome shower ! Living room couches nice to sink into after a long day. The AC was great after a day in the sun. The beach chairs, umbrella & towels were a bonus. I loved sitting on the lanai in the morning watching geckos, and watching the sunsets at the pool. It was a bit further from the pool and ocean than I thought it would be, but not bad. We met a lot of nice people poolside, many of whom mentioned we were in one of the nicer units, and the owners had noticeably done some higher end renovation.
Virtually no road noise from Alii drive. The only down side was being on the ground floor, we occasionally had noisy people above us. And that was just the thumping feet, no TV or loud voices. I've already recommended this property to friends and would love to stay again myself. It was perfect for a girls getaway.
