About Daniel and Linda Hrycyk
We have owned and operated "The Compass Rose" since 2003. Our vast professional experience in customer service enables us to have a thorough understanding of our customers' needs and concerns and to give them a worry-free, high-quality rental experience.

Why Daniel and Linda Hrycyk chose Captiva
Our family first started renting properties on North Captiva Island in 1999. We immediately fell in love with the island and, after 4 years of renting, decided to build our very own house in this piece of paradise!
What makes this House unique
"The Compass Rose" is the ultimate family vacation getaway with something for everyone! We are very conveniently located only 50 yards from the Gulf of Mexico beach (at the only public access on the island to the Gulf beach) and have numerous amenities including a private heated swimming pool with adjacent dining area and vast ground floor sheltered lounge/games area including a ping-pong table, a foosball table and a corn hole (sandbag) game. Also located right at the house are 2 Sun Dolphin Aruba 10' kayaks and 2 Mongoose Brutus 26" fat tire beach bikes. Hot Springs Hydromassage hot tub on screened bedroom deck. We have high speed wireless internet, 4 flat screen TV's with over 200 DirecTV channels/Netflix, various board games and a selection of books.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
What a great vacation. Everything was too notch from the time we were picked up by Pine Island Taxi, to an easy stop at Publix and then Island Girl Ferry. Jenny and The house was beautifully appointed. Travis were wonderful to work with. The views were soul rejuvenating. Best burger I have had on Cabbage Key. Dan was great to work with and provided every detail we needed. We will be back.
So glad that your vacation at "The Compass Rose" was memorable and that we met your expectations!
So much fun at the Compass Rose
We were first time visitors to North Captiva Island and we had a blast. The Compass Rose, including the owners and support staff, were phenomenal!
So glad to hear that your first experience to The Compass Rose and North Captiva Island was a blast! We do our very best to ensure to make sure that all goes smoothly and that the only thing left to do is to have a great time. Hope to see you again in the future!
Three generations of our family stayed in this beautiful house for one week (which wasn't nearly long enough). We couldn't have asked for a better house on this wonderful island. This house wasn't missing a thing. From beautiful views to a fantastic pool area. We couldn't have asked for anything more. The Compass Rose is highly recommended. We've been to many beaches and tropical islands. This is now one of our favorites. Well done!
The owners and VRBO made everything so simple. My family was blow. Away at the house, the views and closeness to the beaches.
Definitely would recommend!
Thank you for the review Kim! We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the house and the island. We do our utmost to ensure that our guests have a great and hassle-free experience and appreciate the feedback!
The property was by far the nicest place I’ve ever stayed on this island.
Property is absolutely gorgeous. This island has a special place in my heart. Compass Rose was an amazing place to stay! They had everything you could possibly want and more!! Only issue I had was with the people who came with us to the island. Supposed to be mature and grown up but a few friends acted like animals and had me stressed out the entire time. Some people just cannot handle the island life. I will be back but will only be bringing my immediate family back to this place.

We had a wonderful time in this beautiful home on this beautiful island!
Thank you for your kind comments! Glad you enjoyed your stay!
North Captiva Island is the best-kept secret in Florida: only four miles long and half a mile wide, North Captiva is a Caribbean-like barrier island accessible only by a 20-minute boat ride. There are No Cars and No Paved Roads (transportation is only by electric golf cart on sand roads!). Nearby Captiva Island and Sanibel Island were once just like North Captiva until bridges brought traffic and hordes of tourists to their shores.
One word describes North Captiva Island best: Nature! On our pristine white beaches, you will find all kinds of rare and exotic Seashells. We also offer world-class Sport-fishing for tarpon, snook and redfish. A large part of the island is a 700-acre State Land Preserve for the protection of endangered wildlife: migratory and nesting birds include osprey, herons, egrets and pelicans. Manatees and dolphins are regular sights from our shores!
Other Activities: shelling, nature walks
Golf: Alden Pines Country Club is a Bermuda grass semi-private course located on nearby Pine Island. It is easily accessible from Pineland Marina (take Island Girl Charters ferry service from North Captiva Island). Water comes into play on many holes and narrow fairways make for a challenging game.
Fort-Myers RSW Airport, a private optional shuttle service is available to bring you grocery shopping and to deliver you to the water taxi. Once on the island, you will be greeted and brought to the house. Porters will assist you with luggage and groceries.
