Welcome to Kailua, one of the most beautiful places on Earth!
We are located in the quaint beach town of Kailua on the windward side of Oahu. We are a 25 minute drive from Honolulu and the airport. Kailua beach, is a breathtaking 2 1/2 mile stretch of white sand and turquoise water. From our place you can walk to the beach in 15 minutes(less than 1 mile). At the beach, you have the option to rent surfboards, kayaks, wind surf boards, and stand up paddle boards.
You can also walk into Kailua town in 15 minutes where you can grab a bite to eat, enjoy a cup of coffee, or check out the local shops. For the early risers, watching the sunrise over the Mokulua Islands is a must, completed with the sun setting behind the majestic Koolau mountains. Kailua is the perfect place for those who enjoy activity, and those who love to lounge on the beach and bask in the sun.
Our large studio has its own private entrance. There is street parking out front that is always available. The entrance to the cottage is a wood chip lined path that is a bit narrow. If you are elderly or use an assistive device for walking, this may not be suitable for you. Although the trade winds provide a nice gentle breeze, there is also a ceiling fan and AC to ensure a comfortable temperature. There is a fully stocked kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave, toaster, hot plate, and coffee pot. We have a newly remodeled bathroom with granite counter top and a larger tiled shower. For those of you who prefer to stay in and cook, there is an outdoor dining area where you can enjoy the warm air and trade wind breeze.
We also provide masks, snorkels, and beach chairs. For your travel convenience we have shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen, and lotion available. The studio is very spacious, has a king size bed, cable TV, wireless internet, a gas BBQ, iron and it's own washer/dryer. A basket of local coffee and chocolates will be waiting for you upon your arrival. It is a perfect place for those visiting Oahu!
NO SMOKERS please. We reserve the right to ask you to leave if you are smoking anywhere on the property.
**As a courtesy, we do want to let you know that we have 2 children ages 3 and 6. Our 6 year old goes to school everyday and our 3 year old is either home or with the nanny. While, they are good kids, and we try to keep noise down mostly in the early morning, they are kids and therefore tend to make kid noises. If you are not fond of children, this may not be the place for you.

My husband and I have lived in Hawaii for 15 years now. We love the Hawaiian culture, the tropical weather, and the outdoor life style. We enjoy meeting new people from all over the world. We have 2 children ages 3 and 6. Our 6 year old goes to school everyday and our 3 year old is a long napper. Lisa purchased this studio in 2008
We have always grown up vacationing to Hawaii and are happy to have finally made Kailua our place of residence. We have the vacation rental available for our parents when they come to visit and rent it out when they aren't here. Kailua is truly one of the most beautiful places in the world and I hope that one day everybody has a chance to experience Kailua.
The cottage's proximity to Kailua town, the beach, restaurants, and shops. The cool breeze of the trade winds, the topical weather, and the comfortable feeling you get while staying in the cottage.
I am late at writing this review from over a year ago, but it's the right thing to do considering the great experience we had at this rental. First of all, I went to college in the immediate area, so know the town very well and the prices of most rentals. Considering the price AND the great, clean amenities, this was an ideal place to save money and spend it elsewhere, as they were running a special rate at the time (the regular rate is still affordable considering hotel costs). The kitchen had enough for morning coffee and any other food prep you desire (however, considering I was in Kailua, I vowed not to cook in this food paradise--there is so much good food nearby). The location was very clean and the bathroom looked newly remodeled. Parking was on the street, but always available. Lisa was kind enough to loan me her jogging stroller as I brought our 2 year old (once I heard that there were children making noises occasionally, I knew this was a great place where I didn't worry about disturbing a family either with our own noises). Regarding what others have reported as "negatives": yes, it's on a busy street, we found the window AC unit drowned out the street noise (you can also prepare with earplugs). However, if you have ever stayed in Waikiki or any other urban resort area, this is much more peaceful as the trash trucks alone will make you jump out of bed. The walkway is narrow, but have you ever walked through a parking garage, through a hotel lobby, up the elevator only to have the last room down the hall? I can guarantee you this is much easier. And, you are navigating a walkway with a washer/dryer that you will be thankful for towards the end of your trip. Finally, she is honest about having small children. We rarely heard them and didn't find it to be distracting at all. If you are home all day listening to her children, you need to get out more anyway, you are in Hawaii and if the sun is shining you should be under it! Aloha and thanks for a great stay, would return in a heartbeat!
Lisa thought of everything a visitor may need. The cottage was clean, roomy and in a great location. Just like hotels, there was a list of attractions, shopping and restaurants. The beach, shopping and eateries were so close and convenient. Great location and very inviting. Owners live on site and were very accommodating and helpful. We would recommend this property to everyone.
Lisa was great to deal with while booking the rental. The property was clean and had access to beach towels and chairs which was nice. We were aware of previous reviews left on this rental property and wanted to chance it ourselves. We found the road noise extremely loud and began at about 5:30am every morning. With the room being feet from the road, we found it extremely hard to fall back to sleep because of this. The air conditioner was very noisy but needed to be on due to the road noise being worse if the window was left open. The property was smaller then we expected and we found privacy very limited as we were literally fenced off in an area of their back yard. Getting our luggage into the property was very snug (we were informed of this prior to booking). It was handy having a washer and dryer. If you are just planning on sleeping here and not spending a lot of time here, it is the place for you.

We had a very nice stay here in this studio recently, using it as a home base for our first visit to Oahu. It is convenient to Honolulu and Waikiki (under 30 mins drive), and if you don't have a car, there are buses that will take you from Kailua. The best part is that Kailua itself is a wonderful small town, and has lots of places to eat and shop, and many miles of beautiful beaches close by.
The unit was nice and clean, and well-stocked with dishes, towels, etc. It is small, with just one room, though with a nice large comfy bed, and a small kitchenette area and bath. Lisa and her husband were very friendly and helpful with all our questions, and they solved the few problems that arose very quickly. A few things to note - the walkway/path to the door of this unit IS very narrow, and it is difficult to negotiate with luggage of any size. If you can only roll your luggage, and not lift and maneuver it, then you may have problems. Even walking without luggage through it, over the grass, stones and lava rock can be tricky. The path leads from the street, which is where you must park your car. Finding a space was never a problem for us, although we did have to park across the street once. This unit is attached to the owners house, there are thin walls between the two, and your front door faces their kitchen window, so you WILL hear family noises from them, and they, most likely, will hear you. The noise we heard (from the kids mostly) was minimal, and didn't bother us really, but we DID hear some every morning. All of this is explained in the owners' description, but we just wanted to reinforce it for future users. One thing that is NOT mentioned in the description however, and the only reason e gave our stay 4 stars instead of 5, is that the unit borders the street, and it is a quite heavily traveled street, meaning that there is LOUD traffic noise, all day and most of the night (from about 5:30 am to nearly midnight.) If you are bothered by noise, you'll definitely want to bring a good set of earplugs. With these caveats, we think you will enjoy your stay here in beautiful Kailua.
We loved the location, the layout, and the cleanliness and facilities. Large bedroom with sitting area, nice kitchen and bathroom. Washer and dryer came in handy. Lisa was a great host, we made a last minute reservation. Easy access to the beach and downtown Kialua. On the windward side of Oahu, so a nice break from the busier Honolulu side of the island. Beautiful Kialua beach just our speed with less glitz (read no glitz) than Waikiki. We had a rental car, easy parking right in front of the rental property. We live in the country, so were not used to listening to traffic on street.
