Upon arrival and walking into this cottage, it was obvious that it had not been cleaned. It was filthy with baby diapers in the baskets, trash bags out front on the lawn, dust balls everywhere. This surprised all of us (two other couples) because when we received the rental agreement there were very strict instructions on cleanliness because of family allergies. Well I travel around and this was by far the dirtiest place I have ever stayed and would not go back. I usually don't write negative reviews but I need to let others know about this one.
We booked the house for a weekend trip to Tanglewood in July 2016, with another couple. Upon our arrival late in the evening we were unpleasantly surprised to find the bathroom in appalling condition. There were wet towels on the floor around the sink and toilet, and when my husband brushed his teeth, water ran directly from the sink onto the floor. The bathroom sink was unusable, as the drainpipe was not connected, which explained the wet towels on the floor. It smelled nasty. I called the owner, and she seemed surprised to hear this. How could she have been, though? Someone (presumably the cleaner) had put the towels down prior to our arrival. If the leaking was a new occurrence, surely the owner would have been called.
We were told it was impossible to get a plumber in (it was now the weekend). So for two days, the 4 of us had to brush our teeth, wash hands after using the toilet, and shave in the kitchen sink (the same sink in which we were preparing food and washing dishes).
The plumbing was scary for the whole weekend. It made weird, loud gurgling noises when we used the shower. It sounded like something was ready to explode in the bathroom. Every time one of us flushed the toilet, we crossed our fingers. Needless to say, I would never stay here again! This place was disgusting; a health hazard. These people were dishonest to rent their place on in this condition. While it did make for a somewhat amusing “bad travel experiences” story, that is not what I was expecting or hoping for our Tanglewood get away.
We stayed here for a few nights....beds were comfortable, pool table was a nice touch...wifi / sat tv were great to have. Would definitely stay here again
We were very happy with our stay at this cozy cottage!
My husband and I and our pre-teen son stayed here very happily for three nights in mid-July. Attractively simple, clean, spacious cottage in a quiet neighborhood. There's a lake across the street with a place to swim (though we swam in lovely Lake Onota, Pittsfield). Between excursions to nearby scenic and cultural spots we slept comfortably, loafed in the house, bought locally grown raspberries and corn — and had fun playing pool! We thank Kim and Joe for offering this delightful vacation spot -- perfect for our needs!
The property was as described, and was convenient to Tanglewood and everything else you could want in a Berkshires getaway. Had a lovely time walking down by the lake.
Affordable and convenient, with communicative owners. Thanks!

The Berkshires, in Western Massachusetts, are known as a center of cultural activities, including but not limited to Tanglewood (the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra), Shakespeare Theatre Festival, Jacobs Pillow, Williamstown Theatre Festival, plus numerous recreational opportunities for hiking, swimming, fishing, kayaking, both in Berkshire County, and in Columbia County, just over the border in New York State. Our cottage is a six minute drive from Tanglewood, and close to the scenic towns of West Stockbridge, Stockbridge, Lenox, Lee, and Great Barrington. Within 'day-trip' driving distance are Hudson, New York, Williamstown, MA, the 'Hill Towns,' northeast Connecticut, and Shelburne Falls (including the Bridge of Flowers). There is no end of things to do and see from Richmond, MA.
