Our family cottage is a single level ranch style layout with (2) bedrooms. The master is lakefront where you can hear the waves lapping the shore. The second bedroom is kid friendly with a rustic log bunk bed. A futon in the family room offers additional accommodations for 2 more guests. One full bath with tub/shower is available. The living room has a cathedral ceiling and knotty pine walls. The family room also displays local area taxidermy including an owl, a pheasant, a bear and a Lynxx that complete the cool "Up North" feeling. A gas stove heater warms on chilly nights, while a 32" flat screen with cable and premium movie channels, DVD/VHS combo player stands ready to entertain. Cute gaming table and a mixture of cards and board games are available for family bonding. Wireless high speed internet service is furnished to please those needing connection to the city life. A modern well equipped kitchen and dining room table helps make meals and entertaining a breeze. Laundry room offers a washer and dryer on site. Outside towards the lake you will find a wood deck with a new gas grill, and a built in fire pit for late night camp fires. The deck overlooks an awesome beach, dock and swimming area. The 113 foot sandy, rock-free swim area tapers gently from shore to the deeper water. Our private dock extends out 64' over the water. There is room for docking a boat (up to ~21') or other water toys. This side of the lake usually receives a breeze, so few bugs are ever present. Enjoy bonfires as the sunsets and the breeze come through the signature birch tree at Leaning Birch Lodge.

Leaning Birch Lodge was our choice for our family's only get-away this year. We only had 5 days and we really wanted to make them count. What a perfect choice this cottage was! Our children are 4, 2, and 6 months, and this place was just the right size: not too big, not too cramped. The living area was spacious enough to spread out on furniture and the floor for games. Both bedrooms were large, giving the kids another area to go play. And our kids LOVED the really special log bunks with log ladder - this was major highlight for them! The sunporch was my favorite place, especially after dinner until bed time . . . peaceful and bright and wonderful. One of my very favorite things about the cottage was all of the artifacts from my youth, or even my parents' youth! Life Magazines back to the early 60s, beautiful furniture serving its purpose for decades, perfectly functional kitchen utensils from the 70s. The whole place was old and cottage-y enough to feel really special and relaxed, but the amenities were modern enough to make it all comfortable. Very clean, too. The sunsets were breathtaking. It felt like Leaning Birch Lodge was the most perfectly situated property in the entire world to see a great sunset. And due to our dates and the up north locale, I stayed outside reading a book until after 10:00 one evening . . . with no other light. The days were looooong on Otsego Lake! For the price, the comfort, the location, and the ambiance, Leaning Birch Lodge was IT. We will go back!
What a wonderful stay we had as a family for a father's day/birthday combo. Perfect sunset, my daughter adored the bunk bed room. This cottage literally had everything you need to be able to relax and enjoy some time away. We will definitely be staying again but next time for a longer amount of time. 4 days wasn't enough for this adorable getaway. 5 stars for sure.
Once again, your cottage was a welcome sight for us weary charred Texas folk.We met up with your sister Nancy and Ross for a good visit. The weather was great and the colors just got more vibrant day after day.Jodi must have taken a bazillion pics.We played alot of golf, visited with friends that we've gotten to know and just plain relaxed. When we pulled in the drive, Jodi commented that it felt as though we were coming home. That's how comfy it is for us there. Thank you for letting us enjoy your place. Scott and Jodi
Thanks for renting us your little lake cottage. We had a wonderful week. The colors from across the lake
were awesome, as were the sunsets. Took some killer photos with all the colors mirrored off the still water.
The cottage was just right for a couple of tired country folk from Texas. The R@ R was much needed.
