Overview

About the property

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 2-4)

Just 15 min. from historic Beaufort, 5 min to Hunting Island State Park; 57 miles to enchanting Savannah, 69 miles to thriving Charleston and 12 miles to Parris Island. Beaufort offers all the down-home charm of an older, southern city minus the really big crowds. (However, with more than 2 million visitors per year, it's not entirely disregarded.) History, architecture, the waterfront, a healthy local arts scene and great local restaurants separate Beaufort from other low country locales. Named the cutest town in SC by PowWow.com as the poster-child for adorable towns, it has all the Southern charm you could ever dream of: friendly people, a low-country culture, a slow-paced lifestyle, Antebellum architecture and Spanish moss as far as the eye can see.

Décore: Ocean Blue ceramic floor tile, rattan living room furniture with futon, sailor blue bedroom furniture with a queen pillow-top bed and a nautical theme. This first floor vacation condo features a screen porch overlooking one of the island's 3 pools with a view of 3 mile long private, uncrowded beach and morning sunrises. Just 70 yards over the boardwalk, over the sea oats/sand dunes and you're on the beach!! Pets must be well behaved and preapproved. Pet owners planning to bring pet(s) must reserve with a credit card. Pets may require an extra cleaning fee, especially long-haired pets. Pet owners should use curtains instead of vertical blinds at patio door. Active pets may accidently pull blinds down off track and on to floor.

Close to rookeries with hundreds of herons and egrets.

We love to relax and enjoy the warmth of the sun, cool water and carefree attitude in a quiet neighborhood atmosphere with 24-hour security guards at the gated entrance. Take long walks on your own sandy beach. All the pleasures and privacy that a hotel cannot offer.

11 GOLF COURSES WITHIN 15 MILES.

And golf is only one of nearby Beaufort’s drawing cards. Just 10 minutes away Camelot Farms provides Equestrian Adventures. It won’t take long for you to discover why movie makers so often choose the Lowcountry as a movie set. Forrest Gump, The Prince of Tides, and The Big Chill are but a few of our credits.

Spend a week, especially when there's a festival going on or you can get a taste even in a few days thanks to well regarded tours. Festivals include:

What a relaxing, peaceful vacation. The condo was like a home away from home, very clean and inviting. It rained our first night there but the screened porch was a great way to spend a rainy night. We even got to enjoy watching a school of dolphins swim while lounging on the beach. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful, serene place to enjoy some down time!

A PIECE OF HEAVEN!!

About Ty gilmore

I am retired from the Cooperative Extension Service where I enjoyed a 30 year career as a 4-H agent, Home Economist and for the last 5 years a Cluster Director. I am widowed and have one son (Ty), and six grandchildren ranging in age from 28 to 12. I enjoy dancing, reading, gardening, water aerobics, crocheting, sewing and traveling. And I'm an active member of the Baha'i Faith sharing it's message of Unity.

Why Ty gilmore chose Beaufort area

Once I felt the gentle breezes and saw the flowing waters, sandy beach and spacious views of Harbor Island, I was hooked enough to find my property.

What makes this condo unique

Remarkable sunrises and sunsets, access to swimming pools, collecting sea shells, walking among the terns, pelicans, egrets, herons and horseshoe crabs, 24-hour security, graceful sand dunes covered with sea oats and coastal grasses, peace, tranquility and a wonderful place to take the grandchildren.

Nice location, unit needs some updating and work

  • 2 of 5

The location at Harbor Island was great. Private beach and very low key. The unit is not in very good shape and the furniture is cheap and outdated. The futon reminded me of my dorm 40 years ago. Repairman came into the unit 4 times during the week. The master bathroom sink wasn't working until day three. The linens and towels were cheap and thrown in the many WalMart type cabinets in the unit. Someone needs to learn to fold. Several bags of trash sat outside in the parking lot the entire week of our stay. However, overall, the location is wonderful and we can overlook the flaws in the unit, but they really should look to upgrade clean up some.

Owner's Response: The whole island is still under construction from damage caused by Hurricane Matthew. The work was slowed down because the first construction company could not work out a contract with the HIOA and a second construction company had to be hired. The present (2nd) construction company is much more responsive to owners and appear to be working as fast as possible given the scope of the work. The bathroom sink was suppose to be in working order Saturday before guest arrival the same day but we are sorry it didn't happen. The sink was installed and the toilet put back in place and working before guest arrival and the sink was working before guest left. There is a sink and toilet in the half bath and we are sorry for the inconvenience of not have the main bathroom sink working upon arrival. The scope of the work included roof repair/replacement, a new HVAC, a new sink in the main bathroom, replacement and painting of walls/ceilings. These are all upgrades. We understand when all units have these and any other items finished, the work on all floors will begin. Since our unit has tile on all floors there is very little floor work to do in our unit compared to others. We appreciate all comments and will be happy to look at the linen and towel issue when all work is finished.

Big Chill Beach Weekend

  • 5 of 5

This is our new secret spot and an excellent alternative to camping on Hunting Island. We loved the porch and corner window. The beach , ocean and communal pool were are all within visibility from the porch and living. This is a quiet community and a super easy get-away.

BEST ROOM IN THE HOUSE

  • 4 of 5

My trip kind of started off on the wrong foot. But, with a phone call to Annette, I received the help I needed. Fell n love with the screened in porch, so did my furbaby, Buddy. Sitting out there in the evenings with the ocean breezes blowing, being serenaded by crickets and frogs, it quickly became my " happy place.". I packed way too much. Both with clothes, etc. and items that might be needed in the kitchen. Everything 's there and more.

Became a beach bum, daily attire swimsuit, cover-up and flip-flops. Took off my watch, put phone on the chager when I got there, lived on island time. Got off the grid for awhile.

Great RELAXING time!!!!

  • 5 of 5

This is the 2nd time I've stayed in this condo this year...HIGHLY recommend, very relaxing and all you need to just enjoy the beautiful island! The place is so low keyed and not noisy or a lot of people. So much to see with the "sea turtles" and beautiful homes and friendly people! You can bring your 4 legged kid and no worry...allowed on beach, too! Downtown Beaufort is so sweet and lots of friendly folk and good places to eat!

Very CLEAN and AFFORDABLE Condo!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED our stay here and plan on returning again. The condo was very clean. The close access to the washer and dryer, general location to the pool and boardwalk were real bonuses. And since I was cooking almost all of our meals there, it was great not having to pack pots ,pans, dishes and such. We loved being able to look out at the pool and see whether or not it was busy before having to get dressed and walk there to find that out. The beach was absoulutely gorgeous and CLEAN and not croweded! I really enjoyed being able to see the ocean from the kitchen, den and porch. Oh, and we were told by the island that no white lights or camera flashes are allowed on the beach at night from May-Oct (because of the turtles). We found out from a couple that lives there that you can cover your flash light with a colored (but still translucent) solo cup or colored saran wrap or just use a red or blue light if you want to walk the beach at night. They said that is when you find tons of shells and crabs and conch shells all over the beach. We didn't find that out until our last day there, so we weren't able to try that. The owner was quick to respond to any emails that we sent asking questions....even during our stay. I would definitely recommend this condo to anyone wanting a QUIET beach getaway. If you want to go on vacation and just go to the beach or spend time in the pool, then this is your place. The closest grocery store is 15 minutes away so make sure you take your food/spices/drinks and condiments with you. Wal-Mart is about 20-25 minutes away. The grill is located in a communal area just behind the pools, but it is in full sun during the day, so keep that in mind if you plan on grilling out for lunch. For entertainment out, we went to the HWY 21 drive in theater one night. Can't beat being able to watch 2 new release movies for $7/person! We went out to eat one night at the Foolish Frog. My husband says that they were the best fried scallops he has ever eaten. We cooked the rest of our meals there in the condo. And for a sweet treat, we stopped at Crave CupCake Boutique in downtown Beaufort for cupcakes on our way home. We also went to Hunting Island State Park while there and climbed the 167 steps up the lighthouse and spent time on that beach as well. It is also very clean. WE LOVED LOVED LOVED our time there. Pack your clothes, toiletries, food, spices, condiments and drinks and head on down there! Check FB for pics that I took.
