The home sleeps nine in a first floor queen bedroom, second story bedroom with queen bed and en suite bath, lower level bedroom with full/twin bunk, and a futon sleeper in the lower level rec room. The home has tongue-in-groove paneling throughout, wood floors, a wrap-around deck and walk-out finished lower level. The whole family -- and your four-legged friend -- will love watching for local deer, eagles, and turkey. Sandy beaches are a convenient 10-20 minute drive.

About Nicole

We're a family of five that have the great blessing to live in the Upper Peninsula. We started with our frequent visits to the area from our Detroit suburbs home, then eventually relocated to the peninsula full-time.

Nicole purchased this house in 2005

Why Nicole chose Upper Peninsula Michigan

We love the space and the privacy our vacation home offers. Plus, there's plenty of room for the kids! I grew up in Escanaba, just over an hour from the home, so it really feels like I'm back to my roots. My kids have loved being a part of the culture on the Garden Peninsula. Our favorite summertime activities have always been the 4th of July Parade in Garden, Fayette State Park and beach, and Big Springs, just north of Indian Lake. In fact, we love it so much up here, that we've settled in the area permanently. The kids love our K - 12 Big Bay de Noc school system! And, living so close to our vacation home helps them learn the value of hard work -- we clean the cottage for guests ourselves! We always like to know how we've done -- it's our goal to deliver it to you as clean and fresh as we like to have it ourselves.

What makes this house unique

The Garden Peninsula is full of the friendliest people you'll ever meet. We hope you'll be able to enjoy the local culture and activities within 20 minutes or so of the cottage. And you'll be just ten minutes from the Garden Mini Mart -- and in our opinion the best meat counter ever! We love everything about the cottage -- the layout of the house, the privacy and nature of the woodsy vacation home area, and the amazing location on the beautiful Garden Peninsula.

What a gem! If you like your peace and quiet BUT with all the nature you can think of this is your spot! Cabin is very nice and has all the amenities (nice job owner). View is over the top....sits right on Lake Michigan but not on one of those boring sandy beaches...this beach is an adventure! Beautiful shoreline to explore. If you get the chance check this one out.

Lovely, Clean & Secluded

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at this property was a perfect escape from the city. It was only my husband, our small dog and myself so we didn't need nearly as much room as the property provided but it was perfect for our needs and very secluded because almost none of the neighboring properties had guests. Keep in mind, we stayed for 5 days in December/January so I can't comment on bugs or beach or anything related to that but for a winter getaway is was really lovely with the gas fireplace (one switch and it was on!), TV, spectacular views, outdoor grill, etc. We enjoyed wintery hikes around the area and walking on the frozen lake. The property owner, Nicole, was very nice and responsive throughout the process and left a helpful binder of tips and departure cleanup directions. Two tips: 1) If you don't like 'up north' water, then I suggest you bring your own for drinking but we didn't mind it. 2) If you go in the winter, make sure you have all wheel drive as you can't predict how much snow will fall during your stay and you don't want to get stuck! I absolutely recommend this property and would stay there again.

Great house with beautiful sunrise views.

  • 4 of 5

The home itself was big, beautiful and clean. It had all the amenities and supplies of home. We enjoyed the propane bbq and the fire pit on beautiful starry evenings. The sound of the waves at night lulled us to sleep each night. It was a little further from the nearest grocery store than I expected and it would have been nice to be able to actually get to the waters edge and walk along the shore.

Thanks for a wonderful vacation!

Peace...Tranquility

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at this lovely cabin for a week and it was incredibly peaceful. The home was very clean with comfortable beds! The lake shore is not for swimming, after some rains we could not walk out to it even with water shoes due to sinking but the sandy beach access was not far and we went to it daily. We watched eagles soar over our place daily, I woke to a breathtaking sunrise with deer in the shores in front of the home. There is one neighbor right next to the house and that didn't make it as private as I had hoped. There were no corn cob holders available but we made due. ;) This home was a great home base for our day trips to Munising and Escanaba where we took the kids to the fair. What a great time! We ate at the Jack Pine Lodge and loved the food and atmosphere of this rustic cabin restaurant. The campfire pit was wonderful. We did have a black bear cross our path while two-tracking on Indian Head trail..awesome! This was a wonderful getaway for all of us! (Two adults, three teens and our 7 year old.) Thank you!

Owner's Response: We are always amazed at the changing lakeshore. Just a year ago, you could walk a hundred feet or more from the tree line and still be on dry land. Now Lake Michigan is rising back to its original levels and we're glad to have the water returning to the level it was when we bought the place, but realize it will be another year or two before the vegetation and land settle back to their original state. Whether the water levels are up or down, the lake is what makes the area so beautiful and peaceful.

Peaceful and away from it all!

  • 4 of 5

Great place for teenagers and young adults that like to explore the marshy shoreline and have wonderful bonfires with s'mores and tons of stars! We enjoyed our stay at Sunny Shores. We ventured to the Agawa Canyon Train Tour, Tahquamenon Falls state park for hiking, Indian Lake State Park for swimming and exploring the local dirt roads and paths. The house was clean and large enough for the 6 of us to cook, play games, explore and laugh a lot. Thank you Nicole!
