My wife and I have owned our condominium at the Romar Place since 2004. The unit was not affected by hurricane Ivan. We enjoy staying in the unit but unfortunately, our busy schedules do not allow us to spend as much time at the beach as we would like. Being a vacation rental owner has become a hobby that has allowed me to communicate with people throughout the United States. It is a pleasure to serve our customers and it is a pleasure to introduce people from other states to our beautiful Alabama Gulf Coast.
Warner Pinchback purchased this condo in 2004
I chose to buy a condominium at Summerchase because it is a great location and the view of the beach is spectacular.
This condo really needs some maintenance and TLC. This is partial list of things that need attention, which was sent to the owner during our stay (with no response)...
-Master bathroom toilet lid needs replaced.
-Master bathroom tub drains very, very slowly.
-Master bathroom shower curtain is moldy and dirty.
-Master bathroom vent has water stains around it and the ceiling looks like it is breaking down around it.
-Pillows are quite nasty under the cases. It is time to replace them.
-Water pressure in the showers is very poor, and it comes and goes.
-Balcony sliding doors need repaired. Either hard to open or do not lock properly. Handle is very loose and about to break.
-There are several broken tiles on the balcony that could be dangerous and need repaired.
-One lamp in living room has a loose connection.
-Floors need cleaned good. They were very dirty.
-Furniture was sandy and dirty. Used and abused.
-Doors to laundry need replaced. They are not even connected and one has a screw sticking out of it.
-All of the blinds are in bad shape and should be replaced. Dirty and broken or missing parts.
-Master bedroom dressers have water blemishes and drawers are crooked and broken. They should be replaced.
-Silverware was dirty and in cabinets and drawers as if it was clean. Dishwasher does not work properly. Dishwasher soap dispenser does not open during cycle.
-Towel racks in bathrooms need to be secured properly. They fell off multiple times.
-Chairs on the balcony are plastic. Some are cracked and broken.
-Only half of the inside latch is on the entrance door. One part is missing.
-Some remotes are missing backs and need batteries.
-Sliding closet doors do not stay on tracks.
-HVAC system could not keep up well. During the day, it ran all the time and the temp stayed around 76. We were conservative and conscientious of not opening doors for too long. The filter didn't fit the unit and it was full of dirt and lint. It actually quit working all together. Called the owner and he called maintenance. The repair man got it going again. Same performance though. Very discouraged about this.
We have been going to Destin or Gulf Shores for over 15 years now. This condo is advertised as a very nice place. For the money, I was expecting a much nicer unit. Romar Place is a nice facility, but this condo needs work.
The location is probably the only positive amenity this condo has to offer. Being right on the beach is a definite plus. Otherwise, I'm not sure we got our money's worth. The place is extremely outdated, especially when compared to other rooms in the building. The air would barely work-and was never cooler than 74, which makes for a very hot evening. There is absolutely NO water pressure in the guest bathroom shower so all 6 of us ended up sharing the master-which again, is not ideal. The linens were ripped and very "used." Upon arrival, we contacted the owner to inform him of a few problems and he assured us that they would be fixed while we were there-they weren't. We were never able to connect to the internet, which is not a huge deal, but there were times when we needed wifi and were not able to connect or even find the server to connect.
It was a really nice unit. I was so glad it had an indoor pool, because it rained during a lot of our stay. The view from the balcony was beautiful. It could have used a little bit better cleaning, especially since we paid a cleaning fee, but it wasn't anything that took away from the experience greatly. The owner responded VERY QUICKLY to a repair that was needed on the kitchen sink, and even had a repair person out to fix it on a Sunday. We would rent this unit again in a heart beat.
Great end-of-summer getaway condo. Spacious master bedroom and bath with gorgeous gulf view. Wrap around balcony with panoramic views that is shady most of the day and perfect for relaxing and watching the tide. The children really enjoyed taking advantage of the indoor and outdoor pools in addition to the beach. Fantastic place for a vacation. We would definitely stay here again and strongly recommend it for a wonderful experience.
Great place for an end of summer vacation. Fantastic, panoramic view of the gulf from the 9th floor balcony is relaxing, and almost always in the shade. Master bedroom and bath is large and once again with gulf views. Grandchildren enjoyed indoor pool, outdoor pool and gulf beach. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to everyone.
