'Spruce Lodge at Hadley Point' Totally Captures the Feeling of Maine!

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 4 - 5 nights

About the property

Absolutely Charming 3BR/2BA Home just Minutes from the Beach Sleeps 6

Maine is called 'Vacationland'--Mt. Desert Island, home of Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park, is an incredibly beautiful place where people come to relax, to play and to appreciate all that nature has to offer. 'Spruce Lodge at Hadley Point' has been designed so that you and your family can stay in a wonderful and comfortable environment while you explore and experience all the beauty that surrounds you! Our charming 3-level home has a bright, open floor plan where the living room, dining area & kitchen share one big space on the main level. Just down the hall is a lovely bedroom, full bath and laundry room. Upstairs is a private loft with a balcony and large separate bedroom. Downstairs there is the family room with game table, beverage refrigerator and a really CUTE bedroom that we call 'The Rose Room' and another spacious full bath. Spruce green (of course) is our theme color & it accents 'miles' of natural pine, fun wallpapers & clean painted walls! The furniture, dishes, art & collectibles were chosen with the Maine Woods in mind!

Activities:: The beach at Hadley Point which is only a block away is a public area where you can launch a boat, have picnics, sunbathe, skip rocks and watch for seals and other wildlife. This is a favorite spot for the kayak rental companies to start and end their day trips-it's fun to watch them come and go- you might want to join them! You can swim, boat, hike and ride bikes on your own or go out on a whale-watching tour or sunset cruise on Frenchman's Bay. There are fantastic restaurants, great shopping and even mini golf courses nearby. There is an awesome 'Art Deco' movie theater called 'The Criterion' located in downtown Bar Harbor and two evenings a week there are band concerts on the Village Green. Several art shows are held during the summer and cruise ships come into the harbor weekly! Mt. Desert Island is truly an Unforgettable Place with something for Everyone!

About Lorie Wiebrecht

I was born in Bar Harbor and my entire family lives or works only 5 minutes from our rental homes. My husband was born in Wisconsin and he fell in love with MDI the first time I took him there in 1996. He knew even before I did that we MUST have our own property there so that we would always have an excuse to go north whenever we could!

Mt. Desert Island is such a beautiful place - we both are so thankful that we can experience it many times a year and I must say that we are struck by the beauty and the solitude every time we go 'home.'

We hope that you truly have a wonderful time whether it is your first experience or you have been visiting for 20 years.

My Dad's motto is...'If you come to Maine one time it won't be your last time.' Of course he is pretty bias on the subject - having lived in Bar Harbor all his life! I wish everyone could get one of his Island tours-they are awesome to say the least!

He started working as a chauffeur at age 15 and he can tell some stories. He and my Mom owned several restaurants and motels and even developed the largest campground on the Island, Bar Harbor Campground which my youngest brother now manages.

Seems like our family has been in the hospitality trade forever and...with all that experience we have certainly learned how to take good care of our guests!

Lorie Wiebrecht purchased this house in 2002

Comfort and Space for a Family of Six

  • 5 of 5

We have spent a week at Spruce Lodge for the past two years. The home is immaculate and well stocked with everything you could possibly need for a wonderful Maine vacation, including a lobster pot with its own propane burner and all the plates and utensil you need for a lobster dinner, (including the bibs!). We are a family with 4 kids under the age of 12 and there was plenty of room and things to do even when the weather was inclement. It is conveniently located near Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park and Schoonic Peninsula. Hadley Point is a short walk and we were able to build a campfire and enjoy dinner right on the beach. .The owner is a pleasure to deal with and goes out of her way to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. We look forward to returning to Spruce Lodge.

Thank you for a wonderful vacation

Owner's Response: When you love it... I am so happy! When you come back...I am thoroughly honored! When you share your experiences of Maine and Spruce Lodge...I am beyond ecstatic! It is a total joy for me to listen to people and hear what they need from a vacation AND a vacation home and to do my best to provide it to them! With each year that goes by I try to get even more sensitive to your needs as travelers and it is so rewarding to hear that it is working!! Thank you so much! We would love to have you stay with us soon. If you have any questions or comments please call me. Lorie

Location, location, location!

  • 5 of 5

The Spruce Lodge at Hadley Point is located in the perfect spot to explore Mt. Desert Island and Acadia National Park. On the northern tip of the island, with a leisurely stroll down to Hadley's Point Beach, it is also just a short drive to Bar Harbor, and convenient to Southwest and Northeast Harbor and also to Trenton, where the Trenton Lobster Pound is located. Speaking of lobster, we must have enjoyed it just about every day! The owner was thoughtful enough to provide a large lobster pot and propane burner. From the pot to the picnic table on the deck in @12 minutes, a gourmet treat!

The Lodge was so well stocked, we kept trying to see if there was just one supply item that wasn't there, and we never could, as everything we needed was there, a wonderful consideration for guests!

From this perfect location, we explored Acadia National Park, hiked the Wonderland Trail, the Jordan Pond Path (with dinner and popovers at Jordan Pond House), took a half day trip to the Schoodic Peninsula (beautiful!), rode bikes on the Carriage Roads, went fishing and lobster hunting from Bass Harbor, took a leisurely stroll through Asticou Gardens, and then a drink and an appetizer at the Asticou Inn. The hike across the Bar Island trail at low tide is a must-do (see how Bar Harbor got it its name). A carry-out lobster dinner from C-Rays (across the street from the lodge) was a perfect way to end our last day.

We definitely recommend this vacation to anyone interested in the natural beauty of Maine, and the accommodations and hospitality of the owner made this vacation one of the most memorable we have ever had. Many thanks!

Even better than everyone says!

  • 5 of 5

This was easily the nicest location we have ever rented. Not only was everything one would need is there, is is high quality and very well maintained. We travelled with our daughters family and the downstairs apartment was perfect for us. Every detail was tastefully done and very inviting. The customer service was beyond compare. We would highly recommend Spruce Lodge to Friends and family (and anyone else who asked!) Add all that to Acadia and it was a wonderful vacation.

We arrived to find a cozy cottage with everything you could possibly need for a perfect vacation, there were clean, neat comfortable bedrooms, a kitchen stocked with staples for cooking, nice flat screen TV's for a cold rainy day, blankets on each couch to cuddle up and so much more!

The host of this house offers you so much great information to help you get the most out of your stay.

We visited Acadia National Park, Cadillac mountain, so beautiful! Bar Harbor, great restaurants, walked the sandbar for shells and wildlife as well as a whale watching excursion.

There is a beach 3 minutes down the hill from the cottage with the best view, this cottage is the perfect location.

I think we ate lobster and blueberry pie 3 meals a day and never got tired of it!

This was a great family vacation with lots to do and such friendly locals,

The pictures of this place don't do it justice. We stayed there bc nothing was available in town. This was WAY better than being in town. It was bigger (spread over 3 floors) and was immaculate! It was quiet, had everything you could imagine in the pantry, walking distance to the water, close to Bar Harbor and the National Park. Even more $500 deposit was waiting for me when I got home. Lorie (the owner) is fast, efficient and a pleasure to work with. She answered any questions we had and the property was very well maintained. We did a lot of hiking at the park and browsing in Bar Harbor. We were there a week and still did not have enough time to do everything. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

Conveniently located, clean lodge

  • 5 of 5

Spruce Lodge was conveniently located to the park, Bar Harbor, and just steps to Hadley Point. The house was clean and provided the appropriate amenities for our week long stay. The owner was absolutely terrific. I would recommend certainly recommend this property especially for families. The free shuttle stops about a quarter mile from the lodge which was convenient for visiting the park. Be sure to grab some lobster at C-Rays Lobster pound just up the street and wine at nearby Bar Harbor Cellars.
