Perfect Location

  • 4 of 5

This was the perfect spot for our Maine vacation. My teenage boys and husband really enjoyed the fishing. It was excellent! Great hikes nearby and close enough to Acadia National Park. The home was cozy and rustic, but perfect for our needs. Karen was easy to work with and available as we needed. We enjoyed a fantastic dinner at The Fish Net our first night there. You really have to try that place! The village of Blue Hill is quaint and lovely.

Perfectly rustic and private cottage

  • 5 of 5

West Acres is a lovely rustic and very private cottage located on Third Toddy Pond near Blue Hill, Maine. Karen West goes way beyond being a gracious hostess in providing yummy, to die for five cheese dip, blueberry wine, crackers, and a sensational blueberry pie right out of the oven. The camp can sleep at least seven with the loft, and provides an amazing view right on the lake. This cottage has all you need for amenities as well as a canoe and paddle boat. Also, the swimming is excellent. Blue Hill is very close if there is a need to get to a market or just to enjoy the beautiful Maine coast. The price is very reasonable and the value is terrific. If you're looking for a fancy house on the lake experience, this place isn't for you. If you want a pleasant, relaxing, and enjoyable week on one of Maine's best lakes, this is the place for you. I'm booking for 2017 now.

Perfection on the lake!

  • 5 of 5

This was by far one of the best vacations my husband, dog and I have ever had! Perfect location, perfect lake, perfect hosts. The swimming, sailing and sunrises were amazing. The surrounding areas were beautiful as well with so much to see and do! The homemade goodies that were provided by our hosts were the "icing on the cake!" Can't wait to go back!

Great cottage, location, and hosts. Poor communication prior to stay.

  • 3 of 5

The cottage, location, and hosts during the stay were great - 5 stars. Everything was clean, the pond was clean and swimming by the cottage was great! The hosts provided a tasty snacks for us. Getting to nearby sites and events was easy - Blue Hill Fair, Acadia NP and Bar Harbor.

FYI The water in the taps is from the lake - but bottled water is provided for drinking and cooking.

Getting a hold of the owner prior to our stay was a bit frustrating (why I chose 3 stars) - phone was never answered and calls never returned. We eventually worked everything out through email, but it took longer than it should have.

A perfect vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Our family - including two teenage girls - spent a wonderful four days on Toddy Pond. Everything was perfect. Quiet, secluded and peaceful. The property was as great as we imagined it would be, and Karen and Mark were extremely helpful, kind and generous. Karen had the cabin stocked with a bottle of wine and snacks, and with coffee making things for our first morning - how thoughtful! And on our last night, the best blueberry pie with ice cream. The fishing, kayaking and deck were wonderful. We enjoyed visits to Blue Hill, Castine and Deer Isle - all easy trips from the cabin. The deck and waterviews (and loon calls) were extremely relaxing. We look forward to visiting again!

Fantastic, relaxing vacation.

  • 5 of 5

My husband, 15-year-old stepson, and lab spent one very relaxing week at the camp at the beginning of July. The property is lovely - at the end of a dirt road with complete privacy on all sides. The camp has everything a family needs for a week, including homemade baked goods by the owner and coffee/milk/snacks for our first day so that we didn't have to go back out to the store. These special touches were especially welcome. While we brought our own kayaks, we also used their canoe and thoroughly enjoyed swimming every day too. The fire pit was fun to use at night and there were plenty of outdoor and indoor games and books to keep us "busy". The camp is also conveniently located to easily visit a couple local towns (about 20 minutes away) to get a sense of the area and to see the coast. I highly recommend the camp and would definitely come back here in the future.
