My husband and I spent a wonderful long weekend here. This place felt enchanted with the view of the river and the little screened-in porch that we called "the magic room." We took turns reading and relaxing in there, out on the deck, and on the lawn overlooking the river. We caught a spectacular sunrise over the river on our last morning. The place was very clean but also felt cozy and lived-in, in all the best ways—just a classic Wisconsin cabin experience. The A/C and internet worked great. It felt private and secluded but we also liked knowing we could walk over to the dam and across the bridge if we wanted a change of scenery or be social. Still, we stayed put nearly the whole weekend. Chris and George were very responsive and helpful. If your ideal vacation is sitting someplace with a great view, reading, watching the birds, listening to cicadas, this is an excellent place to do it. We recommend and we'll be back.
My husband and I spent our honeymoon in this little cabin. We are not beach people, but love the water, so this place was perfect. Our immediate reaction when seeing the cabin was: perfection. Chris and George really thought of everything for this place. All of our creature comforts were met. They have games to play, cards, wifi, dish network, towels, blankets, a fireplace, they thought of everything. There is a private dock that you can go fishing off of and a couple of boats to use. It was absolutely perfect and we really loved our stay here! We highly recommend this cabin.
What a wonderful getaway. Very quite with lots of trees and amazing views of the Rock River. Short drive to Edgerton for groceries, but secluded and set back on the property. Really enjoyed watching the many birds at the bird feeder. Big fire pit and serviceable kitchen. It was a great place to get away from it all and just relax. Will be back very soon.
this cozy place is very nice, has everything you need, inside, our favorite was the awesome screenhouse overlooking the rock river....and or outside you can have a bonfire ,fish off the pier for catfish even walleye, and nearby free boat launch off of Ellendale rd.you can tie your boat off to the pier too, and take a 20 min boat ride up to lake koshkonong a nice calm lake, you can also enjoy some stops around the lake at sunset bar n grille/nice bar/outdoor seating/bands,or stop at lakeview campground has nice bar/outdoor seating/beach/bands,if you like fish ,the bluegill breakfast is excellent at bluegilleys pancake house!!on the down side if you come up to fish do your research first the fishing is probably best in spring and fall... summertime can be tough ,the shallow waters get very warm and algea blooms make swimming a bit uninviting, the locals may know the secrets to fishing success too!try the indianford dam across the road off shore for catfish ,walleye and a mixed bag, try crawlers or leeches, youll get fish but expect snags too, other than that a good time to be had...near the cabin walking distance is trepps bait shop and a a cozy little bar/grill, off the hook pub n grub resteraunt, have a cold beer and walk across the road to fish off the rocks...if you go into Edgerton ,try two brothers pub n outdoor patio for some great food!,george and chris are very helpful with any info you may need!.....enjoy
We are very tardy with this review but had to comment. The house is small but well-appointed and we particularly loved the deck where we could sit outside with our coffee and watch the water. The pier was a perfect spot to stand under a full moon, listening to the water lapping.... Chris was so very kind, both in making the arrangements and answering our questions. George went above and beyond the call of duty coming out in a downpour to help with the VCR when we were so obviously challenged in making it work properly. He came out on his own accord and it was a very nice thing to do. Just delightful people who have a beautiful home to rent to those of us who pine for the midwest and an easier life.....thank you again, so very much. Linda and Bill
First off, both Chris and George are very nice people. George greeted us as we arrived, showed us the place and then got out of our way. He had a lot of great information for us so we enjoyed talking to him. We had a great time watching the numerous birds at the feeders and the river. People watching as well with the Indianford Dam close by we could watch the comings and goings as people fished and had a picnic. Very secluded but nice view of the river down below. The cottage had everything you need but food. The deck is awesome to relax and the screened in porch came in handy for the one day we had morning rain. We even saw a Barred Owl right in a tree close to the cottage. We will be back if the owners will let us!
