Excellent home, great kitchen with all you want. Lots of space to gather as a family or sit alone to read.
Concierge was very helpful and cheerful. Nice walking path around the island. Good dock.
Loved our stay! Our two small families have children ages 14-16 and it was a fabulous time! The house is perfect for them to enjoy some separation from the adults yet we still had plenty of family time around the dinner table and around the outdoor fireplace on the patio. We started and ended each day on the porch around the fireplace. We prepared the most fabulous summer meals all day long in the beautiful kitchen, complete with separate bar and wine refrigerator. We did a lot of cooking which is a pleasure in the spacious kitchen. Boating, tubing, skiing from sunrise to sunset and tie up at the dock for cocktails and a great meal and fellowship. The island is great for brisk early morning walks and we played horseshoes in the front lawn with the kids. Lake glenville is just an unbelievably beautiful vacation location! Staying on the island is a perfect mix of seclusion/privacy yet only 15 minutes (including boat ride) from Cashiers. We hope to return soon! Awesome.
We were 3 generations with 4 children 9 and under. The house was perfect - beautiful, clean with incredible view of mountains and lake. Children slept in lower level bunk beds and had their own tv room. The huge double living room had an area where children played their games(although we were outdoors most of the time) and where the adults could talk and relax. The outdoor porch with the fireplace was a great gathering place after meals or while we were grilling dinner and/or eating on the porch.
For this city lady, the fact that here were no mosquitoes was amazing. The children who were strong swimmers would dive off the dock and loved the tube ride behind the boat. We were there 4th of July and saw the fireworks display on the lake - just beautiful. Explored the lake and viewed all the waterfalls.
Highest praise for Danny the caretaker. We had lots of gear to be brought into house and he was always available for all other needs.
Wi-Fi was spotty but we managed with personal Wi-Fi adapters.
Can't stop talking about what a great house and vacation we had.
This house is very fun and unique. We were greeted by the island's caretaker who was so helpful on everything. He handled everything we needed help with the entire stay including getting our boat launched, getting our family settled into the home, etc. The home is beautiful... it is better in person than the pictures!! We started our days on the outdoor porch with a fire and ended our day on the outdoor porch with a fire. We did our water sports during the day, we also explored the lake including the two awesome waterfalls. We were able to get out for a couple of dinners/lunches in Cashiers as well which is only five minutes away. The basement is not completely finished (95% there) but we never really hung out down there. We would definitely go back for another visit.
We had a great time in this beautiful home on a wonderful lake. We were greeted by the caretaker who took us and our baggage by boat the the island and looked after our needs. The house had all amenities that we needed and provided a great place for family get together. Being on the island promoted family activities and outdoor and water adventures. We definitely will consider returning.
Prior to my visit the owner was always prompt and thorough in answering any questions I had. This helped us prepare for our trip. We rented this home as a girls weekend to celebrate a 50th bday. The lake and surroundings were beautiful. The lake was very calm and had few people on it this time of year. We had plenty of peace and quiet. Several of us kayaked to nearby waterfalls and took tons of pics that could have been on a postcard. The house itself was stunning, absolutely stunning. Every single detail had been attended to. The rockers on the 2 story front porch, extra tables, and chairs provided breath taking views of the mountains and water. There were lights surrounding the deck as well as down to the water and dock that made the evenings more special. Inside and outside fireplaces, and a firepit in the yard provided plenty of places for our group to gather and listen to music on the ipod docking station. The covered outdoor patio with rock fireplace even had a small string of lights that made that sitting area esp. nice. Each room had a comfy matress and oversized tub and or shower, with a view of the lake. The rooms all had plenty of closet space and there was a washer and dryer on the main floor. There were bathrooms on every level and conveniently located. The large sitting areas on every level provided gathering areas for all. The main living room had a u shaped couch that could fit 3-4 people laying down on it. It was so comfy a few fell asleep there. Plenty of blankets werer in a nearby basket. The place we spent most of our time was the kitchen. And oh what a kitchen! It was a dream!! Indoor grill top, plenty of wine and martini glasses, trash compactor, wine fridge, ice maker, two sinks, an island, large fridge, lots of cabinet space to store food, and plenty of kitchen appliances/utensils to make any meal you could dream of. Aside from the scenery, and perfect vacation home, we were treated like royaly. Upon arrival the owners had left a gift and card for our bday girl. The property manager checked on us numerous times and fixed anything we needed. More hot water, how do you work the tv, we might need some batteries, stocking firewood, directions, do we need anything in town, he answered numerous questions abt the history of the island/lake, et... He was easily one of the best parts of our trips, taking care of us like family. I cannot say enough good things about this place!! In fact, I am already looking at the calendar for this fall!!!
