Be enchanted with this island where there are no high rises, no traffic lights and no crowds. A two lane road runs the length of the island with pristine beaches on the west side and Lemon Bay on the east side.

We are just steps from Stump Pass state park and wildlife sanctuary where you will discover a pristine, uninhabited shoreline.

Shops, restaurants and boat rentals within walking distance. Grocery shopping, more restaurants and golf courses all just a short drive away.

We bought this house in 2002 because we love the location on the beach. The state park is within walking distance and you can walk to restaurants, too. The whole area is relaxed and laid back. Best of all, you are surrounded by nature!

This house has 3 separate rental units. If you have more than one or two families, we can accommodate everyone! We're located in a great location right next to a state park with over one mile of uninhabited shoreline.

Idyllic Island Location

This is our eighth consecutive vacation at this location. The highlight for us is its location directly on the beach. Walk out outside and you are on the beach. We can walk south just a few doors to Stump Pass State Park, or north less than a mile to restaurants and Englewood Beach.

The unit is clean and meticulously maintained. Furnishings are stylish, and from my experience, far nicer than other places in the area. We like having the separate bedroom so that an early riser can can read and eat breakfast, while the other one sleeps in. Yet it is priced similarly to nearby studios.

Covered parking is a bonus. Park your car at the door and unload with no stairs. The kitchen is well equipped, and it is designed nicely so we can watch the Gulf while working at our computers or washing dishes. It is common to see dolphins passing through. In the evening everyone comes outside to watch the sunset and a few neighbors mark the event by blowing their conch shells.

We bring our bikes to ride to restaurants, although at 0.8 miles they are well within walking distance. On calm days we launch our kayaks directly in front of the building. On other days we launch onto the Intracoastal Waterway from Stump Pass State Park. We always see dolphins when we launch there.

The owner has been a real gem to work with, patiently and promptly answering my numerous stupid questions. We have never needed to bring up a maintenance or cleaning issue, but if we ever did, I am confident that she would respond quickly and apologetically.

This is the kind of place that Jimmy Buffett sings about. It is so quiet and relaxing that we long to be here. It is far more than escaping snow. We cannot imagine a better place to take beach vacation.

Paradise!!!

This was my third time staying here and I can't imagine staying any place else. The apartments are clean and nicely furnished, the kitchen is stocked with anything you could ever need to cook meals, and most important have comfortable beds. You are only steps from the very warm water and sea shells for miles. It is only a short walk to a nearby restaurant/bar that has excellent food and a live band entertainment at night. I can't wait for my next visit in November.

Can't fault the location but....

Smaller and far less bright and airy than the photos suggest. Whoever took them did a great job. The windows - which admittedly must be difficult to keep clean on the beachfront - were far from sparkling although the accommodation itself was clean. The bathroom/shower room is outdated and well worn and, oddly, opens onto the parking lot. Even the best photographer couldn't have made it look attractive hence no pics in the description. Half the wardrobe is taken up by the air con unit and there is no chest of drawers for clothing - just a few shelves. Quite well equipped (though no kettle - Brits love a kettle) but frankly the accommodation is in need of total refurbishment. It's all a bit tired. We enjoyed the week but that was more down to being on the beach than anything else. By the way, there are two mirror-image units and the photos on the ad are a mix of (the best of?) both.

Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay even though the accommodations didn’t meet your expectations. Yes, we do have an old-fashioned bathroom but it’s clean and works well. We agree that it’s rather odd that the bathroom has a door that opens into the carport but just know that the door can be closed and locked during your entire stay since the main door opens to the living room. When we installed central air for your comfort, we had to sacrifice some closet space. We felt it worth the trade-off and hope you agree. We also chose shelves instead of drawers to make the very most of the available space. We clean the windows every Saturday. If they get salty from the sea air, you can call us and we’ll send someone out to clean them for you! Is our beach house perfect? No. Does it have flaws? Yes, but we’ve been renting this house year ‘round for 14 years and most guests agree that the minor imperfections are insignificant compared to everything else this charming little treasure has to offer. All in all, we're happy you enjoyed the beach, the great location and the friendliness that made us fall in love with this cottage in the first place. Please keep in touch and thanks for your review. Chicken Soup for the soul

My wife and I have stayed here every year for many years for her birthday. We love this place. The water is always amazing, beautiful sunsets, and the perfect amount of everything you need or want. It's just an amazing care-free getaway. We can't wait to get back there. Views are amazing, beach is amazing, love the privacy.

Little slice of paradise

Wonderful, relaxing vacation. Can't beat having a private beach area away from all the activity. Quiet and peaceful. Found lots of shark teeth. Beautiful park within walking distance. Unit was clean and well stocked. Slightly outdated and smaller than I expected but the view was unbeatable. Had 2 twin beds which was different. Overall 5 stars

Million dollar view and great place to stay!

My husband and I love staying here and feel that we found a real gem! We are here with our doggies and the beach is amazing, as is the million dollar view of the gulf! The cottage is perfect for us and that it's pet friendly made it so much fun. You can't tell that any other pets have been here because it's very clean and well maintained. We met the owners who are vacationing here, too. They are both wonderful and very responsive. Amazing stay with access to everything, including a walking trail on Stump Pass Beach Park that's really nice and shopping, restaurants, etc. We're very happy with our cottage getaway!
